Virgil's Real BBQ - New York City
Never saw our waiter. Took a long time to get food...people sat after us got their food well before us. The food was excellent and generous portions are the norm.
Great food and service!
Smoked wings, cornbread and collard greens are outstanding. Ribs, chicken were ok too but no star.
For a NYC restaurant making southern dishes, which I've had in their home states, it stacks up. The Texas brisket and Carolina pulled pork were on point.
the KC fried Chicken became greasy a smaller portion than ever before in addition the french fries which used to be one of the featured foods there they were fresh french fries have been replaced by frozen french fries that was soggy and edition the chicken besides being smaller was extremely greasy
One of my favorite spots late at night. Very chill, good food, good atmosphere
Very good food and good portion size. Massive ribs! Delicious cheesecake!!
been going here for many years and this time was great food as always, right near a concert I was going to
The staff were lovely,
Food and Service was Excellent
Great experience with my group, and with a guest with food allergies - thanks!
Love it my kinda joint.. We visiting from London and the Food here was delicious and American style as expected, I had the Memphis pork ribs and the Texas brisket mix and I loved it... Loads on the plate and you have to have an appetite to finish it all..plus 2 sides and a drink. All for a reasonable price. Service was really good and exceptional and the place & atmosphere looked soo good.. Nothing fke all genuine American style, it up scale not fancy just a good diner to get in and fill up. Lived it loved it and totally recommend it.
we love Virgils ! our go to place when visiting NYC great homestyle BBQ
After theater dinner plans made at Virgil’s. Food was delicious our server was very nice and attentive making menu suggestions. He explain meal and drink options. Came back to check up on us. My husband enjoyed the bbq sauce the waiter let us know it’s was available to purchase and brought a bottle to our table to buy. I would recommend the bbq restaurant not to far from theater district so you can eat after your show.
Our go to place whenever we come to NYC! Always consistently delicious!
Good BBQ and beyond reasonably priced. Really positive experience. Eating in NYC can be hard to navigate. Especially in the Times Square area, where tourist pricing is paramount and quality takes a back seat. Five of us enjoyed a leisurely lunch, excellent service and good food for under $150.00. I would recommend Virgil’s in a heart beat!
Great fun and excellent food
One of our favorite stops when we’re in NYC. The food is delicious, always a good portion and comes out quickly. Even my picky 7 year old fell in love with the BBQ chicken - so moist and tasty. The banana pudding for dessert is a must try. So many great sides to pair with your dinner and the Pig Out is a wonderful way to sample everything for 2. The staff is all very friendly from the front desk through the waiter, bus boy, etc.
Was there for a friend's birthday party he loved it food was delicious and Beyonce's the service is fantastic
We always enjoy our food at Virgil’s.
Food was exceptional. Staff were friendly and couldnt do more to make you feel at ease. A warm, great setting and location. Excellent value for money. Will definately retun.
Waiter Dave very attentive. Food was a little dry.
My husband and I loved the chicken and ribs and the barbecue brisket burger. Waiter was very personable and service was great!
I visit Virgil's at least three to four times in a year whenever I'm in New York. I always bring friends or family with me and we all agreed that Virgil's is a great restaurant venue.
Our server and the host were very kind, accommodating, and answered all our questions. The restaurant itself was too expensive as the food was not up to par, especially the BBQ. Too spicy, not enough flavor.
Server didn't pay any attention to us. I had to go up to the bar and ask for water. We were seated in an area so small, I had to sit at the end of the table because I wouldn't fit on the side.
Virgil's did a nice job on this occasion. The food was tasty, hot and made the folks at the table happy.
We found Virgil’s BBQ when we came to NYC last year. It is now on our list of spots to gonto when we come to Manhattan
Large party accommodated with ease. Reservation was honored right on time. Food took a reasonable amount of time and was served hot. Staff was great and friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Food was very good, our waiter was way less attentive than others around us. He did not do anything other than take the order. The table also was not equipped with condiments, we only realized that after were well into our meal.
Great place to go with large party and kids. Food is good but not spectacular.
The ribs were amazing. Great barbecue!
Great barbecue, the only downside of this restaurant is you have to go to Times Square.
I really enjoy their pulled pork, very flavorful and the brisket is very good, too. The portions are great, not too much, but I was certainly more than full when I left (the appetizers were large, too). It's a little noisy but I expect that for a bar restaurant. I liked that I didn't have to wait hours in line plus it's right by the theater district and Times Square so it's a good meeting place. The staff was very friendly and with just the right amount of attention to their customers.
This time around, excellent service - got us in and out during pre-theater rush with an excellent meal and thoughtful service.
Very generous portion size. Great flavours. Recommend the brisket and will certainly visit again.
I think we were over charged accidentally the waiter got mixed up and did not realize the tip was on credit card. Other then that food was good!
Good place, good food. Enjoyed the experience. Most likely we'll visit again.
Virgil’s never disappoints. The food is always good and, even with its packed house and busy vibe, the service is consistently friendly and attentive. On my most recent visit, our waiter Troy knew the food and drink menu inside out, chatted pleasantly with my son and me, and delivered timely and excellent service all while juggling a bunch of tables.
Delicious barbecue and a fun atmosphere...Virgil's always comes through with a solid performance. We recommend the chicken wings and the baby back ribs if they're on special. Great for groups since they have large round tables. Reserve your spot or you'll likely be in for a wait. It's perennially packed in there.
