Violino Gastronomia Italiana Ratings and Reviews
Both my wife and our friend were glutton & diary free. The staff and chef were very knowledgeable and friendly and accommodated our food issues. This is a great restaurant, one of my favourites in Edmonton! Great ambience, food and an overall great experience
One of the best dining nights we've had. The staff to the food to the scene are all AMAZING!! Our server was INCREDIBLE!! His recommendations were spot on. He was super attentive and helpful. The rest of the staff was also super helpful.
The food was INCREDIBLE. I am so happy we finally made it to dinner at Violino.
Celebrated an anniversary here for the second year in a row. Highly recommend for an occasion, lunch or dinner with a group. The service is always spot on and lovely. The location could not be more better for Edmonton, And then there’s the food.....it’s one of my absolutely favorite meals. If seafood and Italian are your thing then Violino is for you. Share plates to start, order a pasta for yourself and an entree. Best bite of our trip.
This was our very first time to this restaurant, it was everything that it showed on the website. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better, very romantic and cozy. The service was great and the staff was very helpful.I would defintly come back to this place and recommend it to a friend.
I’m not from the area and was not aware of this gem. The reviews were great so I decided to try a new place for our anniversary. The service snd quality of the food were outstanding. Could not recommend higher. We had bruschetta, the stuffed chicken, and the halibut. All top notch. Service was fantastic and unrushed. Prices are steep, but this is a special restaurant. Not a place I would visit regularly but perfect for a date night, or special occasion. Warm and inviting situated in the mansion. Cozy and yet, there is still a feeling of intamacy. Do not miss this establishment.
My husband and I recently went to this restaurant with some of our friends. It was a first visit for all of us and we would definitely recommend it to others. We all ordered something different and we all enjoyed our meals. The waiters/waitresses kept changing but that was not a problem as they appeared to know what each one of us had ordered and all were very attentive while not overbaring. We never felt rushed between courses. I was not sure which white wine to order as I usually drink red wine and the waitress was very obliging and gave me 2 taste testers from which I was able to make a choice.
We came here for our anniversary. We were seated upstairs at a nice little table for 2. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. We were never rushed to leave after our supper was over. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special evening out. And we will be back
Parts of the meal were executed exceptionally well whereas others were inedible. It was almost as though the chef was plating parts of the meal and an amateur completed the other half. Worst of all, I don't even want to speculate as to how multi-colored grit (sand?) gets into a dessert.
The poor server was run off his feet so we were kind of forgotten but he was still a very nice man, very knowledgeable about wine.
The signature Violino pasta was good but sadly the surf and turf fell short- the meat was good but too "saucy" (took away from the nice aged flavor) and the "surf" was non-existent- a half lagostine lobster tail the size of a medium prawn, a small scallop, and a rubbery shrimp with overcooked corn was not what I had in mind. The rest of our party did not rave about their food but did not complain either so I think it was just meh to them.
The house is lovely though, very pretty. Don't think we'd return unfortunately.
Great setting and service. We had a very nice waitress, and the food was really good. We tried the halibut and the prawn linguini Both great choices.
The only thing that detracted from the overall experience was the price. It's a nice place to be sure, but I thought it was a little over priced.
- We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary (married in 1992), as well as 26 years since we got engaged (in 1991) in the restaurant that was in the same building (i.e. La Spiga in 1992).
- Service, atmosphere/ambiance, and food were all superb!
- Table location (which we'd requested) was nice and private without being isolated.
- A great way to celebrate our 25th!
