Violino Gastronomia Italiana
Violino has the reputation as being one of the most respected and influential Italian restaurant in Edmonton.
The welcoming atmosphere and the sophisticated cuisine steeped in the rich tradition of Italian food culture, refined Violino as an authentic Italian restaurant.
Violino specializes in the rich food and wine culture from Italian Peninsula, creating refined but unfussy food served in a lively intimate atmosphere accompanied with a comprehensive wine list.
Anniversary, they gave us a free dessert so sweet of them. Such a lovely place!
Excellent service and lovely ambience, with a good wine selection. However, the food I ordered was less than remarkable. Caesar salad was just ok, and pork chop was very overdone.
We we having dinner, just the 2 of us, me the bride her the maid of honour, wedding was 46 years ago and we had not seen each other in over 30 years. It was quiet enough that we could visit, did not feel rushed and created new memories. Thank you for never rushing us.
Service was great, ambiance was great, we enjoyed our time. The food unfortunately was a little banal, and underwhelming.
We dined outdoors which was very cozy and likely the last great outdoor dining for this summer. We enjoyed Violino’s cocktails selection and their wine list has a variety of modestly priced wines. The menu was neither too short or too extensive with an interesting selection of appetizers and salads. The pastas and mains all sounded creative and delicious but our party went for the Arctic Char and surf and turf features. The service is professional, crisp and attentive. This is my new favorite can’t wait to bring friends.
Great little find close in downtown by 125st & Stony, renovated large old house adds to the charm although does somewhat feels like you are having dinner at grandmas house so atmosphere is odd but still quiet & relaxed. Service is very good, and the food is even better! First time there, but will go back again for sure!
I have been going to Il Violino for several years. It has always been good. Last week my wife an I went for our anniversary and it absolutely outstanding. Better than usual. The restaurant was very busy but the service and kitchen didn't miss a beat. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
We visited Violino for the first time tonight to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we were blown away! The food was delicious, the service was wonderful and the mood was so romantic!! They have a great wine list for those who love some good vino! Our awesome server Jesser (might not be correct spelling) brought us a surprise anniversary desert with sparklers which I thought was so thoughtful! I would highly recommend this unique Italian romantic spot to friends and family!!
We really enjoyed our dining experience here. The food was fantastic, service excellent. We will definitely be back again.
It was our 10 year anniversary. First time at this restaurant. We really enjoyed the meal.
As always, and we go here frequently, we can rely on quality food. The service is good without attempting over-friendliness. Definetly we will come here again and can rely on it with bring guests.
Great atmosphere in the restaurant. They were friendly and the food was delicious. Our server checked up on us and ensure we are ok. The place was nice and cozy. The price was ok except the drinks was a bit pricey. I will come back and try new other food.
Fantastic supper, service, and table. We will definitely be returning.
Our best dining experience in the city to date. Thanks for a great time celebrating.
The food was excellent and the service outstanding. It is a great place for a special occasion.
We were originally seated inside the restaurant, but we asked if the patio was open. We were told that it was indeed open, and our server and if we would like to sit outside. She encouraged us to go take a look. It has finished raining a half hour earlier, so she helped us look for a reasonably dry table. We found one and she gave it a quick wipe down. From then on, we enjoyed our private dinner on the patio (we were the only ones outside!) and continued to experience fantastic service throughout the evening. We spent three hours there and only left because they were closing. We'll definitely be back!
Our overall experience at Violinos was excellent, from the moment we entered the restaurant till we left with a happy and full stomach.
The food was delicious, service spectacular and ambiance perfect. I had the pasta with fennel, sundries tomatoes, shrimp (6) and a sambuca cream sauce. I am still wishing I had enough room for the last little bit I left on my plate. I finished my meal with a chocolate caramel gelato, which was delicious.
We had an early reservation and we may have been the first guests that evening. My friend arrived before I did. He said he ordered sparkling water. It took a while for our server to arrive, at which point he asked if we wanted water - it may have been the manager/host who took my friend’s order of sparkling water and didn’t bring it. We decided on flat water instead.
Our server was friendly and thorough, hit all the service requirements, asked all the questions, was timely, etc. After I paid the bill, I mentioned it was my friend’s birthday (I didn’t state this in the reservation and forgot to mention it!) and he immediately offered us dessert. We were too full so he brought us small glasses of wine - very nice gesture and greatly appreciated!
I appreciate having a parking area, especially downtown, but the stalls are so narrow, even for me getting out of a sedan and I am a small person.
Overall, very good and I will come back.
Enjoyed the food, outside dining in a quiet location. Excellent service! We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will return as well.
Food was amazing. A great place to bring family. Service a friendly and polite.
An absolutely lovely upper-end restaurant that offers outstanding choices on the menu, terrific service that was a nice slow pace at our request and a very comfortable room. Would recommend Violino to anyone looking for a special evening out.
It was a fantastic meal and the service was awesome. Just the right amount of friendly attention. Love the food here. Service is always top notch. I keep going back and am never disappointed. Go here for special occasions or just a casual meal. It has a pretty varied menu and I can’t recall ever having a bad meal here. Certainly one of my favourite Italian place to eat. The waitress was so awesome. I will be back.
Great service and food
Lovely patio and good food on a sunny day! The little extras like the bread with oil/balsamic make this place special.
I reserved a table here for my friend and I, and good thing I did because the restaurant is quite small but the patio was open and we sat outside. They have by far the best patio in Edmonton.
The staff was so friendly and were open to starting conversations with us. I could tell that they really loved working there and were very excited to be serving us authentic Italian food.
We loved the food we orderehnbd and when they brought us the check, they even gave us free cookies. The value of this food was amazing. The prices are set not too high, so that it's affordable.
this a wonderful restaurnat the food excptyional and the manager is one f the most knowable wine person in Edmonton. but one of the best features itis quiet you can actually have a conversation. very few places in edmonton can say that john
Everything was great from the service to the food. We were celebrating our wedding Anniversary and comp’d our desserts too!
Wonderful lunch with three friends on the best outdoor patio in Edmonton. Relaxed meal with loads of time to talk, linger, and enjoy a perfect summer day.
Our hostess was very kind. We told her we hadn't seen each other for months & were celebrating our July birthdays. We had a lovely, quiet dining experience from 11:30 until 3!! Beautiful patio & great food!!
Mediocre at best. Over-stuffed ambiance. Probably the most marginal negroni I have had in my life. North Americanized Italian food.
I am a return customer and I have always lived this place. My guest that came with it was their 1st time and like myself they will return. We asked for a quieter/private seat and they accompanied us with 2 choices both the host and management. While we were there, they made a point of seating guests further away from us as well which I found very co sideration and going that extra little bit. Food is fabulous as always.
We had such a wonderful anniversary celebration here. First time and will definitely be back! Amazing service, food and ambiance.
My mom was in town from Manitoba! They made the entire evening wonderful!
We love Violino’s so decided to make reservations that afternoon. Last time around, my friend ordered the lamb and it was my turn this time. I wasn’t disappointed. Tender and flavourful. My wife had the Chicken Florentine and also loved it. Our server was attentive and friendly as usual. One minor irritant was the noise level. A couple of large tables arrived that had been drinking before their arrival which made it hard to talk, but we’ll keep going back.
They served the main dish while we were still eating the starter. Main dish was cold so probably it had been prepared while we were eating the starter, which they had expected us to finish earlier. Apparently, they have no idea that rush is the worst thing you want, when going for a dinner with a beloved one. Bad planning and bad service for such a pricy restaurant. Pity!
Decent service, definitely no bang for the buck. Too expensive for less than mediocre food and small portions. Would not go back would not recommend.
Lovely place to go for a leisurely Father's Day dinner.
Great patio excellent quality food.
Our meal at Violino was overall very enjoyable. The ambiance of the room is very pleasant, background noise/music was subdued, service was very friendly if a little leisurely and the food was well-prepared and presented. The menu is interesting and offers plenty of variety within the Italian theme.
