Viognier Ratings and Reviews
I came here with my husband, 1yr old daughter, a friend and her husband. This isn't a place to bring a young child, but the restaurant did everything they could to accommodate and make sure we had an enjoyable time.
The food is exceptional. We ordered the seasonal 7 course meal. Everyone at the table has to order the same set 7 course menu. It was well worth it.
We had arugula salad, beet salad, pumpkin soup, scallops, wagyu beef, dates cake, and macaron and lychee dessert. Every dish was awesome. The beef salad was phenomenal because I've never been a huge fan of dates but the dates and ricotta cheese dish was really something. The wagyu beef was also tender and delicious. Scallops were also exceptional. And the macaron dessert.
The service was great too. The meal included a complimentary polenta bite in the beginning, plus bread with ricotta cheese and flavored butter, plus raspberry sorbet. All complimentary. Plus they served us champagne and a minichou cream with blueberry filling inside and a bite of chocolate since I had written in the reservation that it was our friend's 4yr wedding anniversary.
The entire meal took about 2 hrs, which was a bit too much for my daughter to handle, but it was well worth it. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a nice dinner out with excellent service, excellent food, and an excellent experience.
Food and presentation never fails, always exquisite. We have had this waitress before and she always is so accommodating and friendly. We had a couple of vegetarians that have other peculiarities and each one was accommodated. My friend is from the East Coast and just loves dining here before she returns home. Thanks to the chef and staff for always doing their best, we all really appreciate you efforts and professionalism. Btw the rolls are fantastic!
I love dining at Viognier. Simply put, Viognier is one of the few fine dining destinations in mid peninsula. I had the three course tasting menu. Everything was delicious. I had the fennel and arugula salad, wagyu beef and baby beignets as dessert (of course the menu is a lot more sophisticated than that) and my daughter, who is celebrating her birthday, had lamb and chocolate mousse cake. The service was always impeccable; wait staff would provide complimentary tasters to bring unexpected pleasure. This place is my go-to restaurant for fine dining close to home. Their menu, changed year round, gives me abundant joy to look for round the year!!
We had been longtime regulars, but things started to slide a while back and we stopped going there. After seeing recent positive reviews we thought we would try it for our anniversay. Very glad we did as they are back at the top of their game. Incredible food, service, and presentation. They were kind enough to acknowledge our anniversary with a complimentary glass of champagne. Our server Cam was professional, warm, and gracious.
Every dish was excellent with the fried oysters and rib eye being exceptional. My wife's dessert had an almost sculpture-like presentation. Highly creative (and delicious). Expensive yes, but worthwhile for a fine meal. It was wonderful to see them back in form and looking forward to a return visit.
Because it was a special occasion I did not raise the question that pork was substituted for lamb shoulder...definitely a no no, as lamb is so distinctive...
The rib eye came rare even though the wait help emphasized that it will only come as medium rare...
Additionally the cut was so tough it took effort to cut and chew...Rib eye?
Service was wonderful with a wonderful wait staff. Our server was Mary. Her knowledge of the menu and the beverages was spot on. Then, her attentiveness and friendliness made the evening quite enjoyable.
The occasion was a birthday celebration. We had a lovely celebration.
I have one suggestion: there should be a little more flair for special celebrations, e.g., a little bon bon, truffle, etc. One little candle on the dessert plate just seemed underwhelming.
We opted for the 7 course tasting prix fix with wine pairing. While the wine was good, the food was completely underwhelming, especially for the price. Each course wasn't explained and toward the end the sommelier was no where to be found. We had to ask for our wine pairings. We would have expected more for the check price tag.
Loved the ambience, the decor, and the spectacular knowledge of our server, who was also the acting sommelier. He made our tasting-menu dinner a delightful journey through the foods and wines. However, not all the dishes were well executed, and it was not a good value for the price. I wouldn't do the tasting menu again. But I'd certainly come back for the three-course prix-fixe menu.
We went to Viognier for our anniversary. The food was delicious and the presentation was creative. At dessert we were surprised by two glasses of Proseco to celebrate out anniversary. The service was very good, attentive but not intrusive. We would go back for a special occasion.
Generally very nice, but had higher expectations. My husband thoroughly enjoyed each of his choices. My salad was tasty but soggy. Staff was very nice but made a few mistakes. A large group made a lot of noise during their cocktail hour before going to a private dining room. Manager should have foreseen that. Overall a nice choice for our 26th anniversary, but I expected top notch. Was a little disappointed.
Although I am not a fan of tasting menus the one available at Viognier was exceptional. It was a 7 course menu and quite enough to eat. Every dish was better than the last. The Staff were exceedingly pleasant, accomodating and knowledgable. When they discovered we were celebratiing our anniversary, they provided us with complimentary champagne. The Folsom Pinot Noir was excellent. They provided us with a memorable evening , right down to the 2 desserts that were part of the menu and the port which accompanied them. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Viognier has ambition, and probably a few ideas on how to get there, but they fail to really bring their A game. The host seats guests without giving menus, the menu, one brought, isn't printed right, the wine list binder is falling apart, dishes are brought to the table while a guest is in the bathroom, ribeye is cooked done to well-done... And this is a Friday night! There are now literally dozens of place people would prefer to go in the Peninsula for this kind of money. Piece of advice to Viognier: step it up or this is it!
We enjoyed a very elegant dinner at Viognier. The three course tasting menu had plenty of wonderful options for our whole table. The lamb meatball appetizer was delicious! I could highlight the entire menu. Every dish served was fantastic! Our service was superb, and the atmosphere is lovely. True fine dining on the peninsula!
I am disappointed to write this as we had found memories of this restaurant . We had a party of eight and mentioned we had certain dietary restrictions. We were not told they only have a price fixed menu which was over priced. We had a celiac, gluten free and lactose free people in our party and choices were limiting . There were no appetizers available but the chef did make a romaine salad with oil and vinegar to accommodate. Service was extremely slow due to lack of staff in the kitchen. Our reservation was a 7:30 and we didn't get our main coarse until 9. 😕. To their credit they did give us sorbets between courses to help with the time issue. Portions are small so don't go with guests who have a strong appetite. One suggestion is to have a more varied mention and not just four choices in each category. Our waiter did the best he could given the limited menu and staff.
