Loved the whole experience until the noisy table of 10 international business people showed up.
A high-end wanna be restaurant. The only thing that is high-end about this restaurant is the high price tag with mediocre food and unwelcome feeling. ($870 for six 3-course meals and a bottle of ok wine)
We have a reservation booked 2 weeks in advance for party of 6. And was greeted with, we could only offer the 3 course menu bc of the late time and the kitchen is practically closed. Why on earth did you offer the time slot and confirm the reservations???? We weren’t late nor were we just walk-ins. We had reservations!
Well to be fair, at the end, we were glad that they could only do 3 courses instead of 5 courses bc the food was painful to sit thru.
Foie Gras (additional charge) was fatty. Not the creamy rich fat that melt in your mouth and leave a mmm after taste to follow with a sip of good wine. It was just running fat that drips on your tongue and gives you goosebumps.
Wagu (addition charge) was the saddest cut of wagu. It was dry (who does that to Wagu?) And tough that u need the extra elbow grease to get the knife thru.
Pork chop: we had 2 and one was under cooked (pale looking and pink inside) and one was over cooked (super dark outside And dry inside). How can u bring 2 same entrees out but look so different?
Swap breast: omg I thought I was eating pure rubber. The skin as so rubbery that I had to give up on chewing and swallow it (imagine swallow a piece if chewing gum)
Desserts were just sad....it would take another page for it.
After 2 hours, almost $900, we were hungry. So we went and get take out afterwards. That’s just sad.
We don’t mind paying $$ for our food if it was actually worth our time and intake calories.
One of my favorite restaurants, they never disappoint!
Best meal I’ve had in years. In the city for business and were looking for a nice meal. Was a fantastic experience!
I went to celebrate my uncle's birthday & we had a great time! Parking is easy & the food is great! I have Celiac's & the waiter was very accommodating with helping me navigate the order.
My second visit and I no doubt will be back. We had a large party and everyone was pleased. Excellent and creative French cuisine at relatively modest prices by today's standard. Our waiter was perfect at making suggestions but not being intrusive although we had varying tastes. Plus it is upstairs and gorgeous market that is worth the detour.
Overall not what we expected. The food was just ok and the service started off poor but got better when brought the issue to their attention.
I used to dine here when they opened many years ago and I thought it was a very nice place. I was not aware they have switched to a tasting menu format. Excellent Service and good food, but the three-course meal is absolutely not worth the price. I do not mind paying high prices for great dinner, but for what it is, you can do a lot better.
I was on a quick vacation away from Vegas and the pastries were superb.
As always, excellent. Creative menu with option for tasting menu with or without paired wines. Something on the menu for everyone.
My wife and I had many restaurants to pick from but we were delighted to celebrate my 70th birthday here. Our waiter David and the sommelier Drew were extraordinary and exceptional! The wine was perfect and my cocktail Twisted Marge was delicious.
Our meal was wonderful especially my Caesar Salad and Breast of Duck. My wife’s vegetarian meal could not have been better.
I can honestly say it was one my favorite dining experiences in a very long time! Our deepest thanks and appreciation to the Chef and staff.
Viognier is a wonderful restaurant that is often overlooked. A great deal of care is given to every dish and every detail. The flavors are fresh and creative. If you haven't been in a while, you should try again. If you haven't been, make your plans now, you will be very pleased with the delicious food and phenomenal staff. The sommelier is outstanding and working with him is a pleasure.
Everything was great, from the food to the service, but there was a party going on in one of the party rooms that was a bit overzealous and loud. Other than that, it was a great night out.
I will start off by saying the service was fantastic, and the ambiance was lovely -- very pleasant. On my reservation, I had asked to be seated by the fireplace. When we arrived, we weren't seated anywhere near the fireplace and there were several tables open. The hostess checked us in and said, yes I see your reservation here. I'm certain she had to have seen my note requesting a table by the fire. I was a bit disappointed.
The food was delicious and the plate presentations were elegant. My husband and I had the 7 course chef's tasting menu. The only big downfall was the portions of each course. Every course was extremely small. We actually left feeling hungry, unfortunately. Although we enjoyed the flavors of each course and dish, the portion size would not bring us back. With a bill just under $350, you don't expect to leave hungry.
We were not aware that they'd changed the menu to courses only. Since we wanted a nice, light dinner that day, it was a bit of a push. Yet most of the dishes were excellent. Beignets were a bit heavy and they poured chocolate sauce without asking. It'd have been nice if we had the choice.
This is a great spot in San Mateo. It’s on top of Drager’s grocery store. We sat right away. Thomas was our server, he was nice and knowledgeable. The menu is prefix (s?). You either pick the 5 course winter menu or 3 courses. You can also have them pair wines with each course for $55 more. Between each course they provided amuse bouche (s?). Overall everything was great. It is very pricey tho.
My executive team members loved the set up as well as how attentive the restaurant team members were to them. I will most definitely use this restaurant for future business meals. Thank you!
Menu is very creative, but my soup was lukewarm and the duck was fine, nothing special. Panna cotta overdone, not that edible. I've eaten here before and it was really good, so this was sort of a disappointing night.
Overall we had a great time - food and service were fantastic. Would definitely come back to celebrate another special occasion!
This was by far one of the worst meal I have ever had in this price range! Such a pity that great french cuisine spot got under new management and became a shame now.... I would not recommend- save your money and go elsewhere!
This was my 2nd visit to Viognier. I enjoyed the food as well as the service by staff. I will be back.
The evening meal was wonderful and our waiter, Thomas, was wonderful. We never lacked for anything. I highly recommend the restaurant and hope you get Thomas as your waiter when you try it!
Service is excellent, menus changed ..nice if you like a limited selection. The food was delicious.
Finally tried here for the first time. Friendly service, except for the GM. He brought our dishes over and was fairly silent in comparison with the rest of the staff - no greeting, no introduction to the two dishes he brought over. Maybe because it was on NYE? Though it wasn't crowded. Otherwise food was good, nice dish presentations.
Good food, nice presentation, attentive wait staffs and easy parking. The 5-course meal was delicious and just the right amount.
Everything was excellent!!! I am really impressed !!!
New chef has upped the food here. Creative California cuisine . Every dish was outstanding. Plus attentive service and a serious wine list. Three stars.
Bad food and over priced. The ambiance of the restaurant is cheap and does not justify what you are paying for. They offer 4 main dishes as part of the three course menu and they were sold out of one of the options even with the place being completely empty. There are much better options on the area.
The restaurant itself is not lovely, the tables by the window might be nice, but we got stuck at a table in the middle of the room in front of the kitchen and it lacked even a hint of ambiance. The service was pretty good, but our server's demeanor was a bit strange, and therefore, distracting. The food was for the most part excellent, but the ambiance made it a less than satisfying experience.
Fine dining in a refined and warm ambience conducive to conversation and enjoyment of the innovative and very satisfying cuisine. Fond memories are made and enjoyed at viognier!
While we found the food was beautifully designed and masterfully prepared, it was the wait staff that made the evening exceptionally delightful.
Fantastic 3 course options.
The restaurant is pretentious with good service and attractive presentations. However, the cook needs some lessons. The wagyu was tough and hard to cut.
The restaurant itself was magnificent. The food and service were top quality. Good thing, as its very pricy. My experience with open table, however, was a complete bust. Reservations were made for the wrong day and time not once, but twice..... moral of this story-- call the restaurant to make your reservation.
Awesome. Great service and a solid wine list. I enjoyed the whole prix fixed thoroughly...
I came here with my husband, 1yr old daughter, a friend and her husband. This isn't a place to bring a young child, but the restaurant did everything they could to accommodate and make sure we had an enjoyable time.
The food is exceptional. We ordered the seasonal 7 course meal. Everyone at the table has to order the same set 7 course menu. It was well worth it.
We had arugula salad, beet salad, pumpkin soup, scallops, wagyu beef, dates cake, and macaron and lychee dessert. Every dish was awesome. The beef salad was phenomenal because I've never been a huge fan of dates but the dates and ricotta cheese dish was really something. The wagyu beef was also tender and delicious. Scallops were also exceptional. And the macaron dessert.
The service was great too. The meal included a complimentary polenta bite in the beginning, plus bread with ricotta cheese and flavored butter, plus raspberry sorbet. All complimentary. Plus they served us champagne and a minichou cream with blueberry filling inside and a bite of chocolate since I had written in the reservation that it was our friend's 4yr wedding anniversary.
The entire meal took about 2 hrs, which was a bit too much for my daughter to handle, but it was well worth it. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a nice dinner out with excellent service, excellent food, and an excellent experience.
Food and presentation never fails, always exquisite. We have had this waitress before and she always is so accommodating and friendly. We had a couple of vegetarians that have other peculiarities and each one was accommodated. My friend is from the East Coast and just loves dining here before she returns home. Thanks to the chef and staff for always doing their best, we all really appreciate you efforts and professionalism. Btw the rolls are fantastic!
The creative presentation of the food was exceptional. You could tell the chef enjoyed what he does. The food matched the presentation.
Had not eaten at V since we moved out of the area 10+ years ago. I had heard local skeptics warn about the chef leaving a while ago. I am happy to say the new chef and our meal was excellent. I recommend it highly for California Cuisine fans!
So glad they went back to the prix fixe menu. Food was outstanding and wine pairing was delightful. We continue to enjoy this restaurant for our local fine dining experience.
