Vintana Wine & Dine Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent as always. But all aspects were very, very slow. Very difficult to get water refills, salad dressing, food took a long time, etc. I believe there were two large parties scheduled, so the wait staff was just stretched too thin. But the food is always dependably excellent.
Meh. Usually so good, but on this occasion we all noticed the food was just ok. I had the 3 filet trio and while we discussed it being prepared med rare plus, it was very rare and cold inside. It also lacked the usual flavor of the 3 sauces and desperately needed salt. Our “beet salad” was 90% greens, and - not exaggerating - only about 6 small chunks of actual beet. When the waiter took away a plate full of greens, he didn’t ask if we’d enjoyed it. The sea bass is always good, and was this evening. We had guests with us so we didn’t mention it, just bit the bullet. We had a 6pm reservation and they tried to seat our party of 4 in the side “banquet room”. We dine at Vintana for the elegant ambience and view seating. This room lacks any charm and is very stark. We once had Thanksgiving in there and it’s just not inviting. We screeched to a halt when they tried seating us in there and very quickly she was able to seat us in a nice booth in the actual dining room. We dine at Vintana quite often, enjoy the lanai and the bar as well as the restaurant. Last week on the Lanai my burger was dull and dry. The last 2 dining experiences were definitely lacking. We noticed Deborah Scott has not been there in a while and our waiter pointed out the male chef walking around the dining room. Perhaps that’s it?
We enjoy going to Vintanas because the food is well prepared and the staff is very attentive. We don't go often because it is a bit pricey for us but we go when there are specials such as during restaurant week or other type of specials such as the $20.18 special for the beginning of the year.
Vintana is a nice place with a good view and terrace. I think the menu needs to be updated/changed. The food is usually good but pricey considering the choices are uninspired. Service was a big problem. Slow, really slow, and check was done wrong, twice. Was happy to leave.
This is our go to place for special events in our lives. This time it was a birthday and the service was superb. The General Manager of the restaurant was stopping at tables to be sure we were well served, and we were. If you want to celebrate a special occasion, Vintana is the place to go! Our server, AJ, was personable and very attentive.
We dined at Vintana during Cohn's 2018 anniversary dinner. What an amazing bargain. Appetizer and entree for $20.18. Also happened by accident to book on Wed, which is half-price wine day. Double bargain. Food was amazing; service is always above par. We live in East County but make the trip to Vintana because the venue is so beautiful, food always great, and service impeccable.
The menu was uneventful with the same old selections as the regular menu. The steak was full of grizzle and was a glorified breakfast steak. The charge of $69.95 was way overpriced for the quality of food provided. The desserts were closer to what you would get from a buffet. I have dined at Vintana's for years and this was by far the worst dining experience ever. I'm not in a rush to return to the same old menu that has been offered for the past few years.
The popovers are always great!
Dined with friends and were not impressed. My wife had stake that was tough; I had seabass that was prepared well but could have been found elsewhere could be found elsewhere for a third of the price. The glass of courtesy champagne was less than half full.
In general the meal was overpriced and althout the service was good we will not be going back.
We went to the restaurant because it was supposed to be one of the best in Escondido. The setting is unique, above a Lexus car dealership. But, the food was very disappointing. We shared a Caesar salad and ordered the lobster stuffed potato and the pork chop dinner which was supposed to be 14 oz. The salad was presented fairly quickly after placing our order. The main course arrived one hour later and was COLD. We told our waiter and he said he would have the meal replaced. We received the exact same plate minutes later and they were warm. About the only thing that was enjoyable was the bottle of wine that we ordered. I would never recommend this restaurant for dinner. The manager never came to the table to apologize for the meal we received. The waiter did not charge us for the main course.
Went to lunch for girls day out after a wonderful Christmas Dinner a few days earlier. I generally don't like going out for holidays as the atmosphere is hurried, the main chef has the day off...you get the picture of what I'm saying. Well not at Vintana...they had their "A" game on!! Excellent servers, outstanding food choices with large portions and always a lovely ambiance. We were made to feel special!!! At lunch a few days later their lobster avodaco toast was to die for ! I can't wait to go back and have that dish again! Although listed as an appetizer it was an ample lunch portion. I must admit I am also addicted to their delicious ice tea. You can't go wrong if you want to impress or just treat yourself to a great meal, service and ambiance.
The ambiance was superb. the food tasted good, but was a bit skimpy. I ordered the portabella mushroom sandwich and the flavor was good, but the mushroom was lost in the bun with the lettuce and condiments. I shared that with a friend and we shared the Asian salad. I liked that they split the items for us. However, the salad had very little chicken and thevery tiny pieces were hard to find under the greens. there were 4 pecans and one piece of orange in my portion. so I was a little disappointed.
We celebrated Christmas with a friend and where somewhat disappointed, we visited La Vintana many times before and really liked it, so we thought it would be a festive occasion, but unfortunately it didn't quite come up to our expectation. Noise level high and a baby just behind me (mother held her in arms) shrieked into my ears for at least one hour and half (I am not making this up.) The service was good but waiter seemed disinterested, no connection at all. The food was ok, perhaps kitchen was overwhelmed to do their best, as usual. I thought, it was overpriced for what was offered, I wouldn't return for a holiday dinner but certainly will dine again some time at the "Vintana" because I know they can do better.
