Vintage Tavern Ratings and Reviews
We have dined here several times and have always been delighted with the meal and service. The food properly prepared and the menus offer an excellent selection. The Taste of Southern Goodness is a great way to start a meal - add pimento cheese. Order this for the table, there is plenty to go around.
The food was delicious; my husband had the elk chops and I had the beef tenderloin. Their Guinness ice cream with Baileys and wafers was also quite tasty. Our server was friendly and super helpful when we realized we were running short on time but still wanted to order dessert.
The duck was fantastic, very tender, with delicious stuffing. The sausage appetizer was also very good, particularly the homemade kimchi it was served with. And always the bread pudding is worth eating even if you are gluten intolerant.
The service was friendly. My only complaint was it took way too long to get our wine
Came for our anniversary. The restaurant ambiance was very inviting and cozy. We sat next to the fireplace on a very cold night. Food was delicious. Must try pimento cheese! Highly recommend! Will have to
Come back during warmer weather and enjoy the back patio seating.
I have dined at Vintage Tavern many times and the experience was fantastic. This time, however, not the case. My family and I were seated upstairs in a very outdated area. Unlike the main dining room that is cozy and has great ambiance especially in the winter time. To get to the restrooms you had to walk through the makeshift service area for the servers. All of this and the meal for 4 of us was over $200. I am not sure I will recommend or return to what was once a favorite of mine.
One of the best dinners we’ve ever had. The food was amazing and the service we even better. We had the pleasure of being served by Dr J, who is a true master of his craft. We especially appreciate the extra mile they went to help celebrate my wife’s birthday. Definitely recommend making a reservation. Make sure you try the housemade pimento.
This was our second time, but never again. Their signature flounder was mushy and too many capers. Waiter brought us bread plates, but what we received were two tiny pieces of pre-cut roll from a lady walking around with a basket and thongs. Kind of funny for such an upscale establishment. Wine by the glass was okay, but not at $11.00. Our bill before tax for two was $147.00...and we were not satisfied nor pleased. We suggest to save your aggravation and money!
we have been to Vintage Tavern three Christmas eves in a row, and other times as well. While the food and service are typically very good, there is usually one thing that isn't quite up to snuff. This time we sat by the fireplace, which was lovely, but in a very dark corner so we all had to break out our cellphone flashlights just to read the menu. We've let them know several times that it's too dark in there, but still not change. The one "off" thing this trip was the side of mushrooms, which were overcooked and completely bland. The staff, however, is open to constructive criticism so we let them know. Still, it is too minor an issue for us not to go back.
A disappointing experience with friends at Vintage. The food was not not up to the standards we have come to expect after many visits. The oyster stew was served with lukewarm broth along with cold oysters and a dap of cold sweat potato. This was followed by a very over cooked monk fish with charred skin and dried out flesh. Hope the main team was gone for the holidays and they get back on track next year.
Celebrated our 29th Wedding Anniversary and so glad we dined at Vintage Tavern. The whole evening from the moment we arrived was perfect and a wonderful experience. Arrived early to make sure we were able to take part in the whole experience. Went to the bar for a pre-dinner drink and met Katie who was charming and provided great conversation as well as drink options. She even made sure we were set for dinner and who would be taking care of us throughout the rest of the evening. Made reservations in advance via OpenTable which was a smooth process and ensure the time and date we wanted was confirmed. We were seated by the fire place by the host who welcomed us and said congratulations on our 29th Wedding Anniversary. Once seated we were greeted by Dr. J who is fantastic, provided great options from the menu and personal experience. The food was well prepared to perfection, the ambiance was over the top and the service second to none and I have visited a lot of very good restaurants in my travels around the world! By the end of the evening the Manager, Tom stopped by to check on us. The entire staff felt like Family by the end of the night and we will definitely return. The menu even had a congratulations message at the top which almost brought my wife to tears. Wonderful location for a special occasion or if you just want a really great dining experience you will remember for a while!
Our foodie friends joined us recently on a Saturday night as they had never been to Vintage Tavern and had always wanted to go. Our server Samantha was excellent, and truly knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu . In addition she was quite a student of the art of wine. Not only was the food excellent, it was matched by the overall level of service from every staff member we encountered. We have visited vintage Tavern many times over the years and continue to find it a place we and our friends want to go back to time after time. We highly recommend it; ask for Samantha.
This was my husbands and my first time here. Even though we missed our reservation, we were still able to find a table In the bar despite how busy they were, which was very nice. The atmosphere was lively and the decor fabulous. Our drinks took a while but considering how busy they were we totally understood. The food was excellent, however the server was not what we would have expected for the caliber restaurant we were in. She was very cold and border-lined on rude. Being first timers we had some questions about the menu, but we got the strong impression that we were a huge bother to her so we didn’t even ask. She was clearly forcing a smile because each time she walked away from our table the smile immediately turned into a scowl. Watching the staff walk around sulking is more than off putting to say the very least. If we do go back, it will be because of the excellent food. I do not want to discount an entire restaurant over one disgruntled employee. Maybe the dining room is better. Very disappointed to say the least.
Restaurant provided a personalized menu to mark the occasion. Hostess and waitress congratulated us on our anniversary upon arrival. Tasting menu had a starter, a salad, entree and dessert, each one paired with a hefty half pour of a particular wine. Good size portions. Great service. Awesome night. The marinatef bison ribeye is spectacular
Your restaurant has become our family favorite for anniversaries and special guests visits from distant family. Daughter lives abroad and the first thing she asks is “Can we go to Vintage?” When ever she travels stateside. She and her husband are real foodies and have traveled all over Europe and parts of Asia.
We go to Vintage Tavern for one double date night every year although we really should go more often. We go during Restaurant Week in Suffolk. This year we all decided to go for the tenderloin and wow! Awesome! Everything else on the plate was just that...mashed potatoes and spinach...the steak absolutely took the prize! Loved it,as usual!
Overall my experience was pleasant. I would have given them five stars had the tenderloin I ordered came out medium rare like I ordered it vice medium. Also they would not allow any substitution for the reaturant week menu so I was stuck with a bowl of mashed potatoes that I didn’t eat.
We had family in town from California and had never been to this restaurant so decided it would be a nice treat. The atmosphere, wine and service were exceptional. The oysters rockefeller appetizer was incredible salty, scallops were delicious. For the price the food quantity was limited.
The food was well prepared and delicious. My wife and I had the Bison Ribeye and the Elk Chops. Both were melt in your mouth good.
The service was great. The staff made sure we were well taken care of.
Music was playing, but was at a level that you could have an intimate conversation.
I highly recommend The Vintage Tavern. My wife and I will definitely be back again.
First time here. The area and interior are very appealing with an old world charm. A rustic cabin feel but plenty of room and well appointed interior. The menu had some interesting items, that may appeal to those with a game animals in mind, such as elk and bison. Entrees of local flounder and bison chop were well prepared. My problem with the evening was with the front end. They do not have any bread service. What was brought to the table were some cracked to pieces crackers on a saucer and only after we asked if they served any bread. We had to ask if they had any butter and that was brought separately. We ordered the appetizer for two, pig feast or whatever the name was. It was disappointing. It was supposed to come with homemade biscuits and the server did not include it either, we had to ask. Two small biscuits arrived. When you enter a restaurant, you get a sense of being welcome right away. This did not have that feel. I would find it really difficult to return here, before trying other places. For those of you, who drink and do not find food your primary reason to come to a restaurant, you might find this location works for you. They appear to have a large bar and large wine list.
Most times we eat here the food is relatively good. Not so much this time. Not that it was bad. It was just meh. DH had the bison ribeye and subbed the side with mushroom stuffing. Ribeye was dry and a bit over cooked. Stuffing tasted leftover from another time. I had Parmesan halibut which would’ve been good had it come to me hot instead of lukewarm. The lemon butter caper sauce was spot on though. The service here is always exceptional and they make you feel special.
The food here is always creatively done. I had the game meatloaf which was slightly overcooked, but still yummy. Our friends shared the chocolate cake and really loved it. The wine list here is extensive as well. It's a bit odd that the server brings your wine in a small carafe rather than just serving the glasses. Each of the four of us ordered a different kind of wine and the server got it mixed up. One of the wines we ordered they were out of, but that happens. We were seated in a booth for four the layout of which does not lend itself to easy conversation.
