Vintage Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Your restaurant has become our family favorite for anniversaries and special guests visits from distant family. Daughter lives abroad and the first thing she asks is “Can we go to Vintage?” When ever she travels stateside. She and her husband are real foodies and have traveled all over Europe and parts of Asia.
We go to Vintage Tavern for one double date night every year although we really should go more often. We go during Restaurant Week in Suffolk. This year we all decided to go for the tenderloin and wow! Awesome! Everything else on the plate was just that...mashed potatoes and spinach...the steak absolutely took the prize! Loved it,as usual!
Overall my experience was pleasant. I would have given them five stars had the tenderloin I ordered came out medium rare like I ordered it vice medium. Also they would not allow any substitution for the reaturant week menu so I was stuck with a bowl of mashed potatoes that I didn’t eat.
We had family in town from California and had never been to this restaurant so decided it would be a nice treat. The atmosphere, wine and service were exceptional. The oysters rockefeller appetizer was incredible salty, scallops were delicious. For the price the food quantity was limited.
The food was well prepared and delicious. My wife and I had the Bison Ribeye and the Elk Chops. Both were melt in your mouth good.
The service was great. The staff made sure we were well taken care of.
Music was playing, but was at a level that you could have an intimate conversation.
I highly recommend The Vintage Tavern. My wife and I will definitely be back again.
First time here. The area and interior are very appealing with an old world charm. A rustic cabin feel but plenty of room and well appointed interior. The menu had some interesting items, that may appeal to those with a game animals in mind, such as elk and bison. Entrees of local flounder and bison chop were well prepared. My problem with the evening was with the front end. They do not have any bread service. What was brought to the table were some cracked to pieces crackers on a saucer and only after we asked if they served any bread. We had to ask if they had any butter and that was brought separately. We ordered the appetizer for two, pig feast or whatever the name was. It was disappointing. It was supposed to come with homemade biscuits and the server did not include it either, we had to ask. Two small biscuits arrived. When you enter a restaurant, you get a sense of being welcome right away. This did not have that feel. I would find it really difficult to return here, before trying other places. For those of you, who drink and do not find food your primary reason to come to a restaurant, you might find this location works for you. They appear to have a large bar and large wine list.
Most times we eat here the food is relatively good. Not so much this time. Not that it was bad. It was just meh. DH had the bison ribeye and subbed the side with mushroom stuffing. Ribeye was dry and a bit over cooked. Stuffing tasted leftover from another time. I had Parmesan halibut which would’ve been good had it come to me hot instead of lukewarm. The lemon butter caper sauce was spot on though. The service here is always exceptional and they make you feel special.
The food here is always creatively done. I had the game meatloaf which was slightly overcooked, but still yummy. Our friends shared the chocolate cake and really loved it. The wine list here is extensive as well. It's a bit odd that the server brings your wine in a small carafe rather than just serving the glasses. Each of the four of us ordered a different kind of wine and the server got it mixed up. One of the wines we ordered they were out of, but that happens. We were seated in a booth for four the layout of which does not lend itself to easy conversation.
Food was terrible, served cold. The special as described is not what we received. Supposedly a vegan grits dish, no vegetables could be found except for small morsels of red peppers and tomatoes. Sausage in the grits did not belong in a vegan dish. This is the second time we have been disappointed. There will not be a third.
Our server, Amanda, was very pleasant, polished and efficient. The bartender that evening was awesome, she is in line to be the bar manager, not sure of her name. Super knowledgeable and we enjoyed talking with her. Food was good as was expected but not as good as it has been in the past. Not sure if it was the quality, preparation, or freshness that was a bit off but still a very nice experience.
The Vintage Tavern is our favorite "Special Occasion" restaurant....we love the food...Southern favorites with a seasonal twist. On Sunday evening (my husband's birthday) I really enjoyed the seafood lasagna with ratatouille and my husband loved the Hunter's Plate!! Sherry, our server, was pleasant and efficient.
We celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Vintage Tavern tonight. We also celebrated our 1st anniversary there as well. The service is great as well as the atmosphere. The steak we had tonight was one of the most tender I've had. The waitress brought us a champagne and grapes as a surprise to celebrate. This has become one of our favorite restaurants.
We went here for a birthday celebration and we were not disappointed.
They even printed the birthday girls name on the menu they bring to your table which was a very nice personal touch.
The food was fresh, hot and very delicious.
We will go back again for sure.!!!
Celebrated anniversary and have been for years. Service was great as usual but I ordered the special which was the shrimp/ clams white wine/ red sauce but was very disappointed on that, not a good flavor, was missing something and I think the price was a little high. We will be back.
The Vintage Tavern never disappoints! My family took my Mother-in-Law for dinner and sat in the dining room (we visit often but usually sit in the bar area). The staff were so attentive and courteous to her, wishing her a very happy birthday as we walked in the door and throughout the evening. They even put a candle in her sorbet! The food was superb, as always. It was a lovely evening and we will be back soon!
Wonderful experience!!!! They started the fire pit especially for us. We were so busy chatting and drinking our coffee, we noticed we were the only ones there. I found out they closed at 9pm and it was about 945. We went inside and apologized for staying past 9, the the guy said, " we're here as long as you're here". They never came out to tell us they were closed. GREAT PLACE, GREAT FOOD, GREAT STAFF.
It was 10 years since our last time dining here as we'd moved away. It was as good as we remembered! Service was prompt, thoughtful, and knowledgeable of not only the menu but beverage pairings as well. Personnally, I would like more and wider variety of draft beers, though what I chose was tasty and went well with my entree. The menu has a small but diverse choice of selections and we like knowing that much of it is locally sourced! It is on the high end of pricing, yet the experience, flavors and the quality of the staff really live up those prices. Perhaps best of all, is that you'd be equally comfortable in jacket and tie or khaki pants and a polo!
My guest didn't specify what kind of tenderloin ordered and the server didn't ask which (beef or pork). Pork was served, but my guest wanted beef (the menu has both). He was very disappointed, but didn't want to say anything. The manager checked many tables but not ours.
