The only concern was that the Solf Shell crab dinners were overcooked. Was disppointed with those entrees.
We have friends that dine there regularly and love it. Two of our party ordered the Flounder, which is a staple on the menu. It’s been delicious when we dined there in the past. The flounder was dry and the breadcrumbs were so thick that there was a layer of dry breadcrumbs between the top layer and the fish. At $31 for the dish, we were quite disappointed. I did point it out to our server. Everything else was very good—bbq plate, steak, crabcakes, guinness ice cream, coffee, cocktails, etc. Would have to go again before I’d recommend it to anyone. The restaurant price structure demands the highest quality food preparation.
Wide variety in menu from seafood to pork to beef. Tasty variations for each. A great value with lots of atmosphere!
“ Dr. J” as he is called was amazing. We had visited Riverstons several years ago and were not impressed. We were told by a few friend to check out Vintage Tavern and were blown away. The food was absolutely stunning... the barbecue and slaw was phenomenal...that’s putting it lightly. My husband got a crab cake and was blown away... I had him try a bit of my barbecue and slaw and he was literally almost in tears it was so good. We will be back, soooo delicious!
This was my 2nd year in a row celebrating my anniversary with my husband at Vintage Tavern but I don't think we'll be back next year. The service, food, and drinks were all excellent but the classy ambiance of the dining room was quickly ruined by a table that had 3 babies and some of the adults in the party wearing gym clothes. Everyone else in the restaurant was dressed nicely and there were about 2 other tables also celebrating anniversaries. I don't want to dress up and spend $200+ on a dinner just to hear children screaming in the dining room next to me. It was also obvious that other guests were annoyed by this table as I made eye contact with some of them every time one of the children screamed. Perhaps Vintage Tavern should seat children and guests dressed in gym attire in the bar area.
Great food and as always great service!!
The Restaurant Week menu was affordable and all large portions. Can’t wait to return
An imaginative and appealing menu (try the chai grapes, you won’t be sorry) staff with just the right balance of attentiveness, all in a cozy, picturesque setting.
Love Vintage Tavern. Have celebrated many events here and will do so in the future. Along with Riverstone and Decoys, Vintage is one fine place to eat, socialize and celebrate.
The food was fantastic! We ate inside but took dessert outside. No bug activity at all. Ken was a delight to talk to! Great 34th Anniversary experience.
The restaurant is beautiful. The bar area is show place. The service was excellent. The wait staff was very upbeat, knowledgeable of menu and evening specials. Everyone was very friendly. Food was so good. It was a great Father's Day dinner. Can't wait to go again.
Excellent choice for dining in Suffolk. The service is good, Lively bar scene, very nice outside dining.
This restaurant has excellent service and flavorful food. I will definitely come again and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great meal.
Vintage Tavern is our go-to place for different reasons in different evenings. When we want nice adult beverages and upscale nibbles at the bar we head to VT. When we want a slower meal and to linger over a delicious meal with professional staff and beautiful wines we eat in the dining room. It’s the best in our area for ambiance for an anniversary or celebration. We highly recommended VT to our friends.
Always a pleasant experience, great service, delicious food and nice ambiance.
Atmosphere excellent. Service lacking. Tenderloin stringy. Lamb chops tough. House wine by glass lacking. Close on all counts but the overall experience just not memorable. Would not recommend and probably won't return.
We had a very pleasant dining experience celebrating my sons birthdays. The service was superb and the meal was delicious!
We Choose to eat outside on the Patio in the back. The weather was Very nice. we started with drinks and appetizers, I had a Bourbon with muddled fresh strawberry and my GF had the strawberrMargerita.
for food I had the Brazed pork belly over grits and she the fresh strawberry and goat cheese special salad.
Both were superb. For dinner I opted for the daily special... Two Large softshell crabs fried in a very light tasty batter. She Had the Stuffed flounder and grits,
the service, the food wer top notch with no rushing at all and timed so perfectly. Hats off to Our cook and our waiter. Tastegasim ……….
Vintage Tavern is our absolute favorite place to take or friends and family. It is also our go to for date nights. We have had about everything on the menu in the last two years and nothing has ever disappointed us. Everything about Vintage Tavern is amazing, the staff, the food, the venue, everything! I would highly recommend Vintage Tavern to anyone, can't find anything better!
The restaurant was spectacular. They were out of a few menu items i.e ribs and mac and cheese. We will be returning to try those items. My mom had the steak frites and I had beef tenderloin.
Great food. I also like their seasonal menu and special meals they offer throughout the week.
We have benign going there since it has opened and have always thoroughly enjoyed the experience and food.
My husband and son took me there for Mother's Day brunch, so the menu was somewhat different than the evening fare, but some dinner items were offered. We started by sharing the Taste of Southern Goodness (on the dinner menu, as well): smoked sausage, Edwards ham, deviled eggs, fluffy biscuits, strawberry jam, pickled okra, pickled pink beets, and a goat cheese bruschetta. Each of us chose a different entree and all three were outstanding! Mine was a perfectly-cooked rare tenderloin with a side of fluffy, moist scrambled eggs and a well-seasoned hash brown potato cake. The other entrees were Shrimp and Grits with a slightly spicy Andouille sausage and a beautifully plated Eggs Benedict--also served with a hash brown potato cake.
Because it was Mother's Day, the restaurant was full. Even though we had reservations, there was about a 20 minute wait. No problem! The hostess brought us complimentary Mimosas!
Our server, Brian, couldn't have been better! His timing was perfect--no long waits, but no feeling of being rushed to decide on our entrees, either. He was so professional and pleasant!
We thought we were finished and had already given our server our card when, suddenly, I remembered to ask if they still made "Brian's Favorite" (named after the owner, not the waiter). It's a Guinness stout ice cream, topped with Bailey's Irish cream and served with sugar-cone-like wafers. It's absolutely the best and most unique dessert I've ever had!
Our server Brian had to go back to redo the tab and did so very graciously. This was especially significant because we were the last brunch seating and the staff had only a few hours to clean everything up and reset for the dinner service.
Typically, the noise level at Vintage Tavern is fairly low, but there were a lot of large families there that day, so the noise level was a little more than usual. But it did not detract from a wonderful dining experience!
Great food. We go there a few times a year. Love it.
The Scallop Rissoto was extremely salty. You could also tell it sat under a heat lamp for quite some time. Also the service was extremely slow.
Just marvelous! It's only taken me 6yrs to visit since I'm no longer local. I will be sure to visit again soon :-)
Had a beautiful evening ! Our delicate meal was amazing! The elk and scallops were cooked perfectly! Such a wonderful ambiance to spend a special night with loved ones!
My wife and I ordered strawberry salads but we received Caesar salads. They exchanged them and the salads turned out to be the the highlight of our dinners. I ordered the Elk Chops which were good but small and only 2 of them. I expected more for $59. My wife ordered flounder which was good. Overall I thought the meals were good but not what I expected from this very upscale restaurant.
A great date- night.
This is one of our favorite places. Celebrated our 30th anniversary. There were a couple of minor glitches that the staff more than handsomely compensated for. The food was excellent, as usual.
Another fantastic dinner! With 6 of us, we kept the servers hopping but they handled it all efficiently. We got the southern app spread--all wonderful: our ladies from the Appalachians were thrilled to find ramps on the plate; ham biscuits were *fabulous*, with bourbon-apple jelly. Cornbread was sweet and moist with nice kernels of corn. Mussels were wonderfully prepared. Scallops were perfectly cooked, with risotto and a nice sauce. Flounder was tender, with a brightly-seasoned, crisp coating. Bread pudding was luscious. Great wine selection.
25th Wedding Anniversary. They made it very special.
A lovely evening spent with visiting family celebrating being together with Vintage Tavern provided the perfect setting. From the moment we walked in the door, the hostess' smile and friendly greeting set the tone for the rest of the delightful night. A lovely meal with attentive service. When one of the dishes did not quite meet expectations, the wait staff immediately addressed the issue and quickly brought a new dish out ...with a smile and real concern of wanting the guest to be happy. Could not have asked for a better dining experience! Kudos to the Vintage Tavern staff. We will be back!
Have been to Vintage Tavern many, many times. Have never had a bad meal; never had anything but exceptional service. I always recommend it to friends.
We visited your lovely restaurant for the Easter Sunday Brunch. It was also in honor of our daughter and son-in-law's 25th wedding anniversary which comes up next month. We were delighted to be seated at our favorite table--the round corner table by the back window overlooking the patio. Our server Dr. J was totally attentive and entertainingly amusing. The food was delicious. Our only request would have been more vegetarian selections for our granddaughter; however she found something suitable (she picked the crab out of her crab omelette--ouch!) Arriving earlier than our reservation, we began with a Bloody Mary on the patio while we waited for our table. Loved with tangy horseradish in it, though we could have done without the limp asparagus on the celery stick. The appetizer combo plate was enjoyed by all. My Shrimp and Grits was delicious. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their entree choice. All in all, we were very happy that we chose your restaurant for our family event. We will return!
Too long a wait for service. Both appetizer and main course were overdue.
We normally enjoy Vintage Tavern. However the last few times have been hit and miss. I had guest in from out of town and wanted to show off a cool place. This was a very disappointing experience.
It was a Saturday night at 7:30. There was a decent crowd but tables were available. There was a party going on upstairs. The wait staff was friendly.
The temperature in the restaurant was way too cool. People were in sweaters and all at my table were complaining to me. We had an appetizer. It was nice. Ordered meals. They took over an hour. Came to the table served cool to touch. I was a server as was my wife many years ago. This is what happened. The kitchen and wait staff kept it cool for their own working pleasure. The food sat while they ALL served the Party. Poor Management. Sorry, They've lost my business.
Food was very good. Bryan our waiter was excellent. It was our anniversary and the staff was very welcoming to us. First time we've been there since the renovation. Nice job!
The elk chops are out-of-this-world! Vintage Tavern provides a fabulous dining experience!
Great food great ambience kind of loud with people talking and food prices were just a bit on the high side but overall it was definitely a 5 star dining experience!
