Vintage Bar and Grill - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
The service was terrible. When we finally got seated after waiting at the bar and got menus nobody came to take our order until we waived somebody down.
The cowboy rib eye were not worth the price as it was tough and chewy and if this is supposed to be a steak house the quality of the meat was subpar.
The noise level was deafening. Most of the desserts were no longer available. Why bother giving us the dessert menu at all. They put together 2 dessert plates for us to share which I feel they should have been gratis.
When we were leaving we were told it was their last night as the place has been sold and will reopen as another restaurant.
Guess I'm missing the appeal of this place; second visit in a year. Same sort of musty smell when you first walk in. But what really hits you is the absolutely outrageous noise level. Really should invest in some some dampening material on the low ceiling. Couldn't here my wife speak, nor barely the wait staff. Food was just ok. No better than Fanatico near by, but twice the price. I'm sorry, as I really wanted to like this local place. Sort of cool decor, but certainly cannot make up for the noise. Also, at a price point of this restaurant it needs a matre'd, not just a young lady looking to see what tables are full or empty. Missed several marks!
I had made a last minute reservation to Vintage on Sunday evening for my birthday. We have passed Vintage so many times driving, and have never actually been inside. The ambiance was cozy, warm, and intimate. My reservation was with my family, and we had a lovely time. Our waiter, I forget his name, went above and beyond. He made us feel so welcome, and was so attentive the entire time. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but I'm assuming it was because it was 9PM on a Sunday. The food was excellent, and cooked perfectly. The music was wonderful and the overall feel was nostalgic. The only complaint was that we sat by a window in the main dining room on the left. There was no light above us to read the menu! The two nearby sconces were not enough lighting so we had to use our phones as flashlights! Other than that it was great! This place is perfect for families, a date night, or even a night out with friends.
Vintage is an excellent place for any kind of meal. The food is creative and tasty, but not ridiculously expensive. My wife and I shared three "course". First, the burrata, which was delicious. It came with tomato, arugula and ham, with a balsamic vinegar dressing that was wonderfully sweet. Second, we split the angry spaghetti, which comes with lump crab meat and has a great spicy kick. Finally, we had their special steak, which was cooked to perfection and sliced for us. A great touch of garlic was added which enhanced the taste. It was delivered sizzling hot and covered with lightly fried onion strips. Just a great meal.
I ordered the special Rib Eye steak. It was the worst steak I have ever been served. I had to work through fat and grizzle on every bite and at the end, my plate was half full of inedible gnarly fat and grizzle. When I raised the issue the waiter offered me dessert. I have been eating Rib Eye steaks from the Maneros family for over 30 years and have never had a steak like this.
Went for dinner at 745 on Wed night for a business dinner with 4 people. There were about 4 other tables sitting. The restaurant was deserted and the staff was no where to be found.
After getting drinks after sitting there for 10 minutes... Every waiter and bus boy disappeared for about 15-20 minutes. Seeing this as a bad omen of things to come we just paid for the drinks and left. Nobody even cared.
Went down the street to Kashi -- amazing food and service.
Vintage ownership should take some lessons from Kashi.
My second time for dinner last week and enjoyed it thoroughly. First time I had the salmon and it was fresh and moist. Next I had the skirt steak and it was surprisingly tender and very tasty.
The salads were also fresh and well prepared. The service is professional and courteous albeit
less consistent than the food but nothing to complain about.
Crowded on weekends but if you like a bit of a scene it works. If you want a quiet culinary experience go on a weekday night.
Definitely will go back in the near future.
When you go to an expensive restaurant you expect a certain level of service and although the food was good when we eventually got it. Our waiter was missing a lot and I mean a lot. My dinner companion even mentioned to the waiter that he needs to check on us more. Our drinks remained empty for a long time. It got annoying and we left a 15 percent tip which was generous in my opinion
When we arrived we noted a single employee responsible for valet parking and the cars were practically backing up into Jericho Turnpike. I realize that many diners do enjoy valet parking but if there is a staff of 1 it might be best to have optional valet parking.
The bar is small with seating for about 6 and there was an awesome female bartender who had to be excellent. My wife and I began our evening by having a drink at the bar and it was most enjoyable. We were sat immediately after spending 20 minutes at the bar.
Prior to dinner we ordered the thick cut bacon and it was good. For dinner we ordered the petite filet and a bass that was garnished with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The dinners were excellent. There were times where the waiter disappeared for a while but it did make for an easy, relaxed evening. We will definitely consider this restaurant again whenever we are looking for a nice night out.
What a gem. I was craving steak for my birthday dinner, but did not want to spend a small fortune. We started with the tuna duo and the shrimp cocktail and I have to say, both were amazing. For dinner I had the small filet mignon and my husband had the cowboy steak , we shared sides of creamed spinach and onions. Everything was spectacular! We have tried all of the other steak houses in the area (Rare 650, Peter Luger's, Rothman's, Prime, etc) and we honestly LOVED this the best.
It was my Dad's birthday so I wanted to take him to a classy upscale steak house. My friend Matt recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. My dad said his steak was delicious! I had the shrimp scampi which was ok, a little salty but the lobster Mac and cheese was my favorite!!!
Booked a 7:30 reservation 2-1/2 hours prior. Requested a corner table. When we arrived we were greeted right away. We were pleasently surprised at how nice the decor was. We were taken to a table in the dinning room where the bar is located and to a nice cosy booth in the corner of the room. Had a fantastic fresh crisp gorganzolla salad. My wife had the lamb chops and I had the filet minion. Both were prepared exactly the way we ordered it and was delicious. Had a side of cream spinach that was also very good. The service was very good. Since there were only a few tables taken the noise level was quite low. We will most definitely return.
