We had the worst experience here for brunch last Sunday. Though we have been several times in the past, something has changed. This was caused by the deplorable customer service.
We came in and were seated quickly. The staff was pleasant until our waiter came over to get our drink order. My friend ordered a spicy bloody mary. It was extremely spicy and almost pure salt... we like spice but neither of us could drink it. He asked the server if he could switch to a regular bloody mary and was told it wouldn't change a think, he asked again can I just try it... the sever was extremely rude and said "no I told it it wont change", stormed off and then cam back with just the mix. He tried it and it was not good, so was about to order a mimosa instead, but the waiter didn't even wait we had to ask him to stop so we could order. The waiter responded "Do you want to try that too? Are you sure, you should try it first... have you ever has a mimosa?"
We tried to let it slide, but when the next member of our party joined us five minutes later the waiter came over, he ordered a mimosa and said "Do you want to try it first? Maybe you should taste it..." The table was shocked, this friend was not even here and our waiter was rude and confrontational for no reason... The waiter then turned to my friend (who ordered the bloody mary) and said: "Do you want to try his first?"
At this point, we decided to just leave... I have never been treated like this in a D.C. restaurant, we used to love this place and will never return. Disrespectful, rude, and outright disrespectful.
Poor marks all around do not go here.
Vinoteca serves great food, but the venue is so loud that even the staff can’t hear. This creates a really lousy brunch environment even if the food and drinks are great. Please invest in some sound control for the dining room
We were really disappointed so we just left. There was no host/hostess, and to get service outside you had to go to the bartender who was doing too many things at once. Food might be good, but who wants to pay $20+ a person to essentially get counter service only?
I enjoyed the food, drinks and service!
Food was not that good... much better tapas at other places in the city. Good live music though.
Place was empty yet servers were nowhere to be found...waited 5 minutes to be seated and another 15 for a waiter to come with menus.
It was nice, but they didn’t specify on the bottomless mimosas. Usually it would Come with the entree, not a separate bill.
- Took too long for our drinks and food to come out
- Wish there was some music being played outside
- The outside tables weren't very sturdy - drinks could've easily spilled
The huevos rancheros was excellent. The weather was perfect, so I'm glad we got a chance to sit outside. Our server was a bit inattentive and slow, unfortunately. Very nice, but clearly was not on. Food and ambiance was good though.
Good drink option before a concert
Truly terrible experience this past Sat night. Have been to Vinoteca several times and never had an experience like this. Waited 20 mins after being seated with no server. Eventually host (Not server) came to take order after I pointed it out but said he had “never done this before.” When server finally came over, we asked “are you our server?” Response was “I could be.” Kitchen ran out of staples including burgers, chicken wings, etc. One of the very few other tables in the dining room walked out. I think Vinoteca needs to determine whether it is a full service restaurant or not. If it is not, then stop pretending and set expectations accordingly.
The service was HORRIBLE. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas were packed and they only had 1 server!! We had to wait almost 2 hours to get our food and the waiter was rude. The management needs to fix this!!!
Great place to sit outside for brunch. I came here with my dad on a perfect Saturday and we sat outside. The food was also really great. I had the duck confit Benedict and it was just fantastic. Would definitely recommend.
The food was very good and the ambiance was great! A little pricey.
They were out of the first 4 bottles of wine we wanted to order. Then we told the manager to select a bottle that fit the description we were looking for but didn’t want the price to be outrageous- he brought us a $200 bottle. Food was mediocre, service terrible and what wine bar is out of wine?!
The food was great the service could’ve been much better
Had a reservation and took about 15 minutes to seat us. Sat down and took an additional 15 minutes minutes to take our order. Extremely loud inside. Food is good but service is not.
The food was so good and the service was great. However, a large party was seated in the middle of the dining room and the entire restaurant became extremely loud. Our table had to shout in order to speak to each other.
Food was good and the atmosphere is fun. The place was empty though
It was a nice place to try, but definitely won't be going back. The food was decent - nothing out of this world.
Great food - massive portions - Try to get in Michael's section, he'll make sure you get your money's worth on the bottomless.
Usually a favorite of mine, this Sunday appeared to be out of the ordinary. Our table wasn’t ready when promised and it took forever to get drinks and food. Appears there was only one server. Once we got the food, it was fantastic.
Well...won’t be going back again.
Food was great and drinks were good. Service wasn’t great. Waiter seemed overwhelmed and couldn’t handle. It was extremely loud too.
Our server was outstanding and the food was great.
Waiter was exceedingly unknowledgable about wine service. Bottle was wrong temperature. Food was overpriced and small.
Great boozy brunch!
Food and service were great. The restaurant is very loud (maybe bad acoustics?) so we were essentially shouting at each other to try to have a conversation. Brunch food was delish.
Michael (our server) was fantastic! Great food, great ambience, would definitely go again when in town.
Amazing experience; great food, drinks and service!
Very limited menu...with limited options for substitutions...this place is really for drinks, not dinner.
We had dinner before a show a Lincoln Theater so it was very convenient. Their flatbread is delicious!
The menu was terrible— hugely off season— tomatoes and a “summer salad” ...we had a cheese plate that tasted like nothing. Service was also slow
I did not like that you are only seated when your party arrives. Understandable requirement but this time my party was late so I ended up waiting around for 20 minutes before I could be seated.
I LOVE Vinoteca! One of my favorite places for brunch with the girls. I love that they have a bottomless option, an option for 1 pitcher, and a reasonably priced option if you want to purchase brunch drinks a la carte. Most places pretty much force you to do bottomless brunch, where the option for one drink is like $8 and bottomless is like $15-$20. I love to order their huevos rancheros for brunch. Super filling and somewhat healthy, I might add. Delish. Our waiter, Michael, was the best - super friendly and attentive. Vinoteca remains on the top of my list for brunch!
The burger was horrible .
No one greeted us. We had to track someone down. Our request for a bottle of wine via open table was never seen by anyone. I dont believe they even are aware of reservations that come through open table. Waiter was awesome though which helped make up for us feeling like invaders vs. Welcome guests.
Very poor and slow service and restaurant was barely crowded on a Saturday afternoon. The backyard patio is the only saving grace this place has.
A good find. We had a very good meal, especially the starters and mains. Very good time list. Excellent service.
