We made an 8:15 p.m. dinner reservation; despite being five minutes early, we were not seated until 8:45 p.m. We were asked to wait near the bar, but there were so many other people waiting for tables at this point that we were crammed next to the bathrooms and kitchen (where we saw kitchen staff drop tongs to the floor and place them back in the food preparation area). We looked at this point on OpenTable to find other reservations in the area, which were unfortunately limited, and I was pretty upset to see that this restaurant was still taking reservations for 9, 9:15, etc. when they clearly could not honor reservations from an hour prior to that time. When we were finally seated, our table was less than one foot away from the adjacent tables -- so close that the server literally read the specials to our table and the table next to us at the same time. It was so busy in the restaurant that the server never refilled water glasses, etc. The food was average for the North End, and the prices just weren't commensurate with the overall experience.
Sometimes you want to go back home for dinner, I go to Monica’s. I always have a great time. I’ve brought friends, family & business and never been disappointed. Big menu, full bar, impressive wine list.
Service was a little slow especially on drinks. Accoustics are poor so very difficult for us to speak and listen to casual business chatter. Food was good.
Came in after the Boston Marathon. We were seated right away. The food and service were great!
We love Monica's. Great homemade pasta. Excellent veal dishes and always some tantalizing special offerings. Friendly and accommodating wait staff. Sometimes a bit cramped but we get it. They want to host as many people as possible!
The food was absolutely outstanding and will bring me back. However the service was terrible, and the bar/hallway area where we waited for our reservation was way too crowded. But I’m still dreaming about that veal Parm.
Our server was wonderful, but the restaurant clearly has difficult handling a request to order a different entree when an entree is not good. I ordered their pasta with black truffle. It had absolutely no flavor. No truffle aroma. No truffle flavor or any other other taste. When I told our server, she left the plate on the table and said she had to get a manager. It took the manager at least 15-20 minutes to come over. When he did, his comments were “well, black truffle doesn’t have much flavor” and “I really don’t want to take back a $40 dish.” Needless to say, he begrudgingly took back the dish, but he was rude and the entire situation was not handheld appropriately or in a hospitable way. Not sure he realized that Monica’s has plenty of competition in the north end and throughout Boston. We will not return.
The food was really delicious and well prepared. Our waitress was peppy and fun. Loved the little annex we where we were seated. Such a lovely restaurant. As we are new to the area, we will be back
Atmosphere was great, great service and food was delicious !! My favorite part was they let you do 2 smaller entries instead of 1 so you could taste a couple different authentic northern Italian dishes. Loved that !!
Food was great. Service spot on. I’d recommend any day.
We asked for a 7:30 dinner reservation and were seated at 8:15. Waiting staff didn’t acknowledge our wait and denied us any sort of compliments to our meal. Overpriced, and you can definitely find a better meal in the north end
Just outstanding! Early dinner with our 3 children, first time all 3 have cleaned their plates. Our waiter, David, took great care of us.
Food was not great. A little bland. It was quiet, very few parties dining there, yet still took a while to get our food. Staff was very friendly and attentive but overall would not recommend.
We had Sunday brunch on Easter. Every dish the four of us ordered was amazing From the fruit waffle to the create-your-own omelet, this restaurant was a hit! We will definitely go back when in Boston.
Easter brunch, perfect choice! Full menu- pleased everyone! Service was friendly and always welcoming!
Only thing I didn't like was their salad. The calamari pasta was amazing! They also had really good wine. Our server was super nice, and they were understanding about us being 20 minutes late for our reservation.
We really loved this restaurant. The food, the fantastic waitress, the decor, the whole vibe - absolutely loved it. Really look forward to the next time we go there. If I lived in the North End it would be every week.
Nice pre-game dinner, but not very memorable
Been going there since 1999. This time, as always, we bring out of town guests and family there. Wonderful place; delicious everything.
What a lovely place to dine and dine well. The atmosphere was relaxing and elegant at the same time. Warm colors and lighting made the environs feel cozy and welcoming. The servers were attentive without being cloying. The food was fantastic. We were a table of four that ordered four starters and four entrees and we shared liberally with each other. The smoked mushroom crepe was viewed the best of the four followed by the flavor-filled involtini. My shells with lamb ragu was so delicious with a great depth of flavor and perfectly cooked pasta. The shredded chicken tortellini were creamy and rich. Wine prices were wide ranging and we had a delicious wine of a varietal I hadn’t had before. It was crisp and delicious. Highly recommend this Little Italian place in a sea of choices.
We were blown away by the food and service at Vinoteca di Monica. Friendly host and servers, great cocktails from the bar, over-the-top wine list, amazing food, homemade pastas, limoncello to finish off the meal. Loved loved loved it here, I can’t wait to be back in Boston.
Little late getting served but great thereafter. Food and service very good. Manager quite aware of the delay and responsive. Nice north end experience. The Veal Parmesan was best I’ve had in years. Basic preparation. The way it should be.
Had a great time!
Enjoyed my experience thoroughly from start to finish. Friendly greeting by hostess and server. Started off with cocktails, great bartender. Had a special appetizer suggested by the server which did not disappoint. Pasta course perfectly cooked with superb ragout. Well timed delivery of the best Veal Chop I have ever had. The meal was so good, server paced it perfectly. We had room for dessert and port. Great homemade dessert and after dinner drinks. Will definitely be back, my new favorite place.
Vinoteca Di Monica was a wonderful dining experience, and my clients thoroughly enjoyed all the different delicious flavors the dishes offered. The service was top-notch and the environment warm, quiet yet inviting and cool. I’ve been there with friends often, and now clients are raving about the dining experience we shared at Monica’s. Great food, great atmosphere and happy clients — so a win all the way around, thanks to the team at Monica’s.
Had a great dinner here, food and service were superb. Extensive & affordable wine list + a full bar for cocktails. Excellent menu, gluten free vegan and vegetarian options. Will be back soon!
Truly a gem in the North End. Had a reservation on a busy Friday night and our table was ready when we arrived. The food was fresh and delicious. Wait staff attentive and efficient. We’ll be back!
Friday nite reservation and traffic was tough so 2 in our party of 4 were very late, but the restaurant was very accommodating and seated the 2 of us si we could have drinks while we waited. Food and drink were brought in a timely manner. I was a little disappointed with my pasta vongole as the flavor was not as good as I remembered and the same was agreed for the 2 pasta bolognese dishes. The one special of the nite dish ordered was just ok. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but perhaps the regular chef was off that nite.
great place with a nice ambience and delicious food. Excellent veal. Paper table"cloths" were my only gripe. Fantastic service. All around, a great spot.
Such a great restaurant, so delicious I had a Barramundi fish that fish that it’s so hard to find finally I found it at Vinoteca! Impressed about the dish so tasty and healthy !
Service was greatttt!!!!
Rubbery calamari, service was prompt at first but eventually dropped off & we had to flag down someone to bring our check. With the abundance of choices in the North End, I’d definitely give this one a miss.
Server was very professional and knowledgeable. Fruitti di mare and chicken parm were excellent! On the large size for a restaurant in the North End and also has a separate bar area which was a nice bonus.
Yesterday we came early we sit at the bar the bartander he made as such a delicious drinks! And after we had dinner the waitress was very sweet and kind she told us the food is the grandmother’s food! And really was such a great food like a grandmother’s I felt like a home! The Vinoteca is the best I’ll recommend to all the best home made pasta! Best in Northand!!!
Went based on great reviews. Dishes sounded so wonderful and were very lacking in flavor. Wait staff & others made up for the food and offered us free desert. Staff was the saving grace for us
Great staff. Excellent service.
Yesterday I went with my husband for dinner we had a bottle of wine Valpolicella very cheep wine and delicious! Food was unbelievable so good and tasty! We eat so much until we clean the plates that’s how good it was and we weren’t that hungry!
Great service everyone was kind and polite very professional!
The best Italian food that we ever had! Impressed!!!
Can’t waite to go back!!!
Honestly I live in the north end and thought I would switch it up and try this place. It’s terrible.
The homemade pasta was amazing, as was all the food. Service was also wonderful.
I can't say enough about the food. Everything was delicious! Can't wait to comeback.
