Took awhile to get seated, even though we were on time per our reservation. Waiter was a bit ambivalent. Food was above average.

Food was delicious. Was not the typial mediocre italian red sauce joint that is prevalent in the North End. We had some yummy cocktails. I had an old fashion...but it was not made with a Luxardo.....come on its the North End...use the good Italian cherries.

We started with imported buffalo mozzerella topped with sweet roasted peppers and smoky grilled eggplant and San Marzano stewed tomoatoes. ALl 3 were incredibly scrumptious I had the haddock which was very flavorful in a white wine sauce. White fish can be bland...this dish was scrumptious. My husband had the pork chop agrodolce style . He loved it. We skipped the dessert an opted for Cafe Vittoria. Would definitely recommend.

We had a 7:45 reservation for 7 people, one of them being 83 years old. Our entire party arrived by 7:45, we were told that they were getting our table ready. We inquired a couple of times to the bar tender, she was borderline rude/argumentative about our request. The hostess was lovely and came over to speak with us, our elderly guest got a little extra splash of wine... we continued to wait. We were finally seated at 9:30pm. Walking out in search of another restaurant was a thought but not an option. Calamari app was fantastic, ricotta polpette were flavorless - a waste of space, the bruschetta and crostini apps were fine. Most everyone enjoyed their main courses, not sure if they were so starved that a ritz cracker would have satisfied. The amatriciana tasted like a regular marinara sauce and pasta was over cooked. Service was manic. Moments of good, but some very rude moments and strange behaviors. Felt kind of abused for lack of a better term.

Best food we've had in the North End so far. And you absolutely have to have the bread pudding for dessert. It is devine!

Food was very okay... Out of six different plates, only loved one of them (the black linguini). My mom ordered a baked fish and the plate came with mussels all around the dish, the menu didn’t specify and she’s allergic to seafood. AND the server didn’t show the courtesy of not paying for her plate. Overall nice ambiance, but food wasn’t great.

What a disappointment dining at Monica's was! Having been there before and enjoyed the exceptional food, wine, and ambiance, we invited friends to join us. The antipasto was sparse and did not have the peppadews and abundance of cheeses and meats as in the past. Calimari was ok. The 4 different entrees we ordered were mediocre. The tomato basil sauce was extremely salty, the beef ravioli sauce resembled a brown gravy. Both seafood entrees were generous, but, nothing special. Service was mediocre. Upon serving our entrees, the waitstaff disappeared, while we all awaited parmesan cheese and hot pepper as our food grew cold.

This is a very vibrant restaurant in the North End, just off Hanover Street. As expected on a Saturday night, it was very busy and lively (i.e. loud). If you decide to go, just be prepared. The menu has a large selection of pasta dishes, all of which are home made as well as traditional Italian entrees. There is also an excellent wine list with reasonable prices. However, one issue I had with the food is that it all had an unusual spice which I later determined to be sage. Even in the truffle pasta, which I would expect to smell truffles, I smelled only sage. My wife's dish had the same. While sage is a nice spice, it seemed to overpower the dishes we had. Nonetheless, we had a nice dinner with a lovely strawberry dessert. It's a bit too loud for my taste but I'm sure others will enjoy.

I would say Vinoteca di Monica was good but not great. Most of our food was above average, but relatively expensive given the portion sizes (aside from the meat dishes, so perhaps that's the best choice here). The service also left something to be desired; they sat us almost 45 minutes late for our reservation without much of an apology, and the rest of the meal was similarly slow. Our waiter somewhat made up for this in friendliness, but it was still a frustrating experience. I would try it out again in the hopes that the service would be better.

Don’t come here. Overpriced food with terrible unfriendly, slow service. We ordered plain pasta with butter for my two kids and they charged us over $45 for it! Outrageous. There was a misunderstanding with the waitress about two of our orders and the person who appeared to be the manager came out and scolded me. Terrible service. Go elsewhere (Il Panino, Saraceno, or the many other Italian places that are better for the value and food!)

Loud, average/poor service. The staff didn't seem to be able to handle the full capacity. It's a shame that a restaurant striving for a nice ambiance has TV screens at the bar. It felt more like a sports bar in the bar area. Seats at tables in the bar area were way too tight.

The food was good, but portions were small. Asparagus appetizer was unique and delicious, and the pasta with peas and prosciutto was very good. However, the gnocchi with sweet Italian sausage had a too-sweet tomato sauce with it, and it wasn't particularly well-balanced. They offered a weird bean dip with the bread, but didn't explain what it was, and we had to ask. It was super dark at our table, so the menu and the food were hard to see. I was also surprised that a vinotecca didn't offer many options for glasses. The waitress forgot to bring my second glass of wine, so she comped it, which was the highlight of the meal. We'll probably try a different place next time.

We and other members of our family have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and fresh and the waitstaff is very knowledgeable. I was a bit disappointed this time that there were fewer specials than usual. I have always really appreciated the fish specials since we do not live in the Boston area and don’t often have an opportunity to try really good fresh fish.

Food was excellent. They make their own pasta. If you have pasta the prices are reasonable. Good wine list. Service was good not great we shared a dessert and he only brought the one dish. Could have been easily split in kitchen. No coffee refill offered. The reason I cannot recommend and would not return is the noise level is overwhelming. I realize we are seniors and do not like noise like younger people do. But we do tolerate them. But this was so loud that we had to shout at each other
