This is small intimate ristorante in the North End of Boston. It has a small bar area in the next room. There isn't a lot of room to maneuver about and definitely nowhere to stand when waiting for a table. We were in the way of the servers and other guests while we were asked to wait until the rest of our party arrived. I think it would be much better to sit a guest at the table as they arrive even if the whole party isn't there to get them out of the way of the traffic. Our server, don't know his name because he never introduced himself, provided just OK service. It seemed sometimes that we were more of a chore to wait on and that he wanted to turn the table as we sat there. We had a nice bottle of Banfi wine and a couple of appetizers. The grilled calamari and the stuffed artichokes were very good. Everyone enjoyed their entrees...veal chop, lobster diablo, baked haddock. I had the lobster salad. The taste was very good, but I would have liked larger pieces of lobster over the very chopped lobster I received. We ended our meal with limoncellos snd Zi also had a cappuccino that was perfectly made. I gave this place a higher rating due to the yummy food that we enjoyed, but would have liked to be treated like they were happy we chose their establishment to dine at.
The food is very good, the menu extensive, and it’s a good find for the North End. Our server made the night. She was professional and personable.
Food was outstanding as usual. Think this was our 2nd or 3rd trip here as we do really like the cooking at the Monica's restaurants. Had the pasta with Lamb ragu and it was delicious; the girlfriend had the potato gnocchi; also very good. The service was also great I just find this location a little loud. Trattoria Di Monica is still my favorite spot in the North End.
Great service wide variety of food on menu including fish shellfish and meat. Exceptional pasta fresh with amazing sauces. Will definitely be back.
Vinoteca di Monica is my favorite restaurant in the North End. The owner is absolutely great. We enjoyed every minute of Mother’s Day we spent there. My party of 8 enjoyed it entirely!
Monica's in our favorite restaurant in the north end - we have brought or sent most of our friends and have only received excellent reviews. The food and service are nice enough for a special occasion but the mood is casual and the prices are moderate enough for a quick dinner before the game or concert at the garden.
For Mother’s Day. Great time! Would go back for sure. Food was great!
Mother’s Day brunch
It was a lovely Mother’s Day Brunch
The food was excellent and so was the service and also very clean
We arrived about 15 minutes early and waited in the bar. Cocktail options were quite good, I enjoyed Limone martini. When seated server gave us an extensive specialist, all sounded great. We chose lobster risotto and rack of lamb. Both excellent. I will say noise level was quite high. Wine list by the bottle was extensive and excellent. By the glass it only had generic description so you didn’t know what was being served. I had what was labeled as Super Tuscan and it was good. Overall very enjoyable evening.
I had the lobster ravioli and that was the right choice. The service was friendly and I loved the atmosphere even though it's a small restaurant. We enjoyed everything from the bread, to wine, appetizers and dessert. The breading pudding was delicious. Definitely a place to check out!
From start to finish an incredible meal with incredible service. We will be back
Honest Italian food using great ingredients at fair prices. By far, my favorite restaurant in the North End.
Great menu with many choices in all categories-appetizers, salads, pasta, entrees & side dishes.
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the wine list.
I've been here several times and have always had a great experience. That's why I made a recent reservation for a family dinner to entertain out-of-town relatives. They seated our party of 7 right on time. While it's pretty tight in there, we were all comfortable at our table. I was amazed that everyone finished their meals! Good size plates of pasta and pizza that everyone loved!
This was our first time dining here and we made a reservation to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary. I called ahead and they kindly put us at an amazing table by the front window. The service and the food were amazing. They really made the evening special for my parents. We definitely will be back!
Italian brunch is my new favorite thing! The service and the food were stellar and the day was gorgeous, so we were able to sit in an open window table. The smoked salmon pizza was delish and my MYO omelet with broccoli rabe, sausage, and fontina was perfect.
Classic North End restaurant. Our server (Paola) was excellent and very helpful! Food was pretty good. White bean dip with bread was delicious, calamari fritti was not as good as hoped, parpadelle bolognese was delicious. I would return for a special occasion.
A bustling, updated Italian place in North end. Refined cuisine. Right in heart of the historic district. Good for special occasions, a bit pricey. Can get quite noisy. Convenient valet parking.
Good quality basic Italian cuisine with good service. Somewhat noisy.
Delicious and reasonably priced so you can enjoy more items off the menu without breaking the bank.
Great night with family. Restaurant is amazing. Superb staff that provides warm, professional and European style service. Salads, pastas and seafood were all delightful.
Great menu! Hard to choose but very good selections.
The best of the North End, time and time again! Always treated like family, always a great meal!
The food was delicious with pasta and gnocchi made from scratch. Would highly recommend!
There was only one thing wrong that made this experience standout. We ordered dessert and my friend (female) and my boyfriend ordered creme brûlée and without any explanation they gave my friend a portion half the size of my boyfriends. When we mentioned and asked why they said uhhh that’s just the amount we had left and it worked out that way. They didn’t even comp my friends creme brûlée.
The portions are small, but after living abroad in Italy they are the authentic size you’d get there.
The flourless chocolate cake had too much frosting and not enough cake, so the flavor and texture of the actual cake was drowned out be frosting.
The homemade pasta was delicious and I’d highly recommend it.
Our waiter was friendly, but could have been more attentive and not slyly given us two different serving sizes of creme brûlée and hope we didn’t notice.
We live in the North End and have tried many of the restaurants and this is definitely our favorite. The food is consistently excellent and we love the cozy atmosphere. The wait staff treat you so nicely and welcome us like family each time. You have to leave room for the bread pudding dessert which is amazing.
This was our second time dining at Vinoteca de Monica. Both times have been excellent. The menus is large and everything has been outstanding. Highly recommended.
top notch dinner experience. service was excellent. food was excellent. Had a great bottle of wine to go with it all. Ambience of the restaurant is warm and inviting. A must try in the north end.
Sometimes you want to go back home for dinner, I go to Monica’s. I always have a great time. I’ve brought friends, family & business and never been disappointed. Big menu, full bar, impressive wine list.
Service was a little slow especially on drinks. Accoustics are poor so very difficult for us to speak and listen to casual business chatter. Food was good.
Came in after the Boston Marathon. We were seated right away. The food and service were great!
We love Monica's. Great homemade pasta. Excellent veal dishes and always some tantalizing special offerings. Friendly and accommodating wait staff. Sometimes a bit cramped but we get it. They want to host as many people as possible!
The food was absolutely outstanding and will bring me back. However the service was terrible, and the bar/hallway area where we waited for our reservation was way too crowded. But I’m still dreaming about that veal Parm.
Our server was wonderful, but the restaurant clearly has difficult handling a request to order a different entree when an entree is not good. I ordered their pasta with black truffle. It had absolutely no flavor. No truffle aroma. No truffle flavor or any other other taste. When I told our server, she left the plate on the table and said she had to get a manager. It took the manager at least 15-20 minutes to come over. When he did, his comments were “well, black truffle doesn’t have much flavor” and “I really don’t want to take back a $40 dish.” Needless to say, he begrudgingly took back the dish, but he was rude and the entire situation was not handheld appropriately or in a hospitable way. Not sure he realized that Monica’s has plenty of competition in the north end and throughout Boston. We will not return.
The food was really delicious and well prepared. Our waitress was peppy and fun. Loved the little annex we where we were seated. Such a lovely restaurant. As we are new to the area, we will be back
Atmosphere was great, great service and food was delicious !! My favorite part was they let you do 2 smaller entries instead of 1 so you could taste a couple different authentic northern Italian dishes. Loved that !!
Food was great. Service spot on. I’d recommend any day.
We asked for a 7:30 dinner reservation and were seated at 8:15. Waiting staff didn’t acknowledge our wait and denied us any sort of compliments to our meal. Overpriced, and you can definitely find a better meal in the north end
