Vinny's on Windward Ratings and Reviews
Arrived for our 7:30pm reservation on time. No hostess at from station to greet us, despite making eye contact with someone who appeared to be a "manager" a number of times, she never approached us nor sent word that there were guests standing at the un-attended hostess stand. When a young girl did arrive, she asked if someone had greeted us - to which we replied NO....and she said OK.
Waiter was very nice, sporadically attentive, slow to take our order and even slower to refill water and drinks. But very nice....he was managing a large party for about 45 minutes (Into our hour and 45 minute Birthday meal for my 14 yo).
Food was good as usual. A filet had to be sent back three times (RAW.....Raw....medium)...it was taken off the bill.
I tipped the waiter factoring IN the comp'ed steak meal, and paid in cash....finished our desert and left without a thanks from the waiter. Not a big deal, but would have been nice.
Have dined at Vinny's many times in my 8 years living in the area - business, casual and celebrations)....I recently moved 20 minutes away and made the extra trip for a special Birthday dinner. Most likely was my last trip....my last visit 1 month ago, they did not have my Open Table reservation in their computer - despite showing them my confirmation on Open Table - and Open Table counted the visit as a NO SHOW.
Two strikes and I think I am out.....Best of luck!
My husband and I have been to Vinny’s several times, it’s always been a good experience. But this past Saturday the food and service were underwhelming. Our server was pleasant and kind however she had a very full plate trying to tend to us as well as several large tables. We waited longer than usual for our salads to arrive and even longer for our entrée to arrive. The kitchen appeared to be understaffed as well. My husband’s lamb chop was delicious, our dining partner’s fillet was not hot. My salmon was undercooked even though I asked for medium well. Perhaps this was an off night for staff.
We really like Vinny's as well as the other Sedgwick restaurants. Kimberly took excellent care of us with just the right amount of advice and interplay; will take the time to ask for her specifically on future visits.
They did a great job this visit, especially since it was NYE. Food got a 'very good' this time just because, even though the veal chop was cooked to temp and tasted great with smoke and some grill char, it was a little tough - or was the knife dull - I'm not sure.
Overall a fun and reasonably priced night.
Previously had a great meal and Vinnys, loved the place, but this time food it service was not that great, my server, the older blonde waitress, seems as tho it was an inconvenience for her to bring us food or water. No smile just did not want to be there apparently. I tried to get her attention to bring us some more bread, and she ignored me. She responded better when my husband asks for bread.
Our pizza was very plain, and the scallop risotto had no flavor, was cold and dry.
Vinnys was just OK this trip. The noise level was extremely high and the food was not at the level of past trips. I am certain the crowd level had something to do with this, but to remain successful they need to figure out consistency. I really enjoy the menu and verity. Blame it on the holidays! We will try it again to see if the issues have been corrected.
Not good. Decided to give it a chance despite some of the negative reviews. Now I can say they were right. The place is loud, food is ok, but service is terrible. Took more than an hour to get the food, not just my table people around us waited just as long. Waiter kept saying "2 minutes", "almost ready" without even checking. No manager even showed up to apologize to anyone.
We’ve been going to Vinny’s for many many years and have always enjoyed it. This time they had removed the carrots and zucchini from the crab cake special that is their signature dish (never on the menu but always available). The crab cakes were also half the size but there was no discount in the price. All they had to substitute for the delicious julienned vegetables was spinach or mashed potatoes. Very disappointing because the vegetables complemented the crab cakes and the pasta. Guess this was our last visit. So sad.
We had a great time at Vinny's. The food was fantastic-it came out hot and did not take long too get it once we ordered. The bartender was very knowledgeable about wine and offered some very good recommendations. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the conversation there. It wasn't a large bar area but was quaint and we were able to carry on a normal conversation without raising our voices to be heard. We will definitely return.
Great food at reasonable prices. Lamb was cooked to perfection. Wine selection solid. However, when served water, the glass had what appeared to be a napkin in it. We noticed this after drinking the water and brought it to the attention of the waiter who immediately removed the glass and replaced with a new glass and fresh water. Nevertheless, very disturbing and something you don’t forget and don’t want to experience again.
Great experience overall! Great atmosphere and very good selection of food. Wine list was a bit on the high side, and the noise level got a lot louder than I had anticipated. But our server was outstanding and the overall experience was excellent. Would definitely recommend without any hesitation for any occasion.
Great Saturday night dinner with my wife and 25 year old son. The menu was diverse enough to satisfy our unique tastes (yet not too eclectic) and the service was on point. The ambiance was charming and warm with just the right amount of energy and vibe for a Saturday night out. We'll be back.
Always enjoy dining at Vinny's. I had the halibut...the fish was fresh, but a bit overcooked...which is easy to do with halibut. The relish that accompanied the fish was excellent. My favorite Vinny's dish is the Scaloppini di Pollo. I recommended it to my sister and she absolutely loved it!
I will start off with the food was spectacular. Amazing flavor in everything we had. But, I gave two stars because the restaurant was practically empty and the four tables were on top of each other, with no possibility of an intimate conversation. We could not hear each other talk. Then the service was terrible. The waitress was not happy to be there, and every thing we asked for was a hassle. She never smiled and mumbled everything. The venue itself is a very nice atmosphere, but was minimized by the service and other noisy patrons. Also, the parking is valet only.
