Vinny's on Windward Ratings and Reviews
Great Saturday night dinner with my wife and 25 year old son. The menu was diverse enough to satisfy our unique tastes (yet not too eclectic) and the service was on point. The ambiance was charming and warm with just the right amount of energy and vibe for a Saturday night out. We'll be back.
Always enjoy dining at Vinny's. I had the halibut...the fish was fresh, but a bit overcooked...which is easy to do with halibut. The relish that accompanied the fish was excellent. My favorite Vinny's dish is the Scaloppini di Pollo. I recommended it to my sister and she absolutely loved it!
I will start off with the food was spectacular. Amazing flavor in everything we had. But, I gave two stars because the restaurant was practically empty and the four tables were on top of each other, with no possibility of an intimate conversation. We could not hear each other talk. Then the service was terrible. The waitress was not happy to be there, and every thing we asked for was a hassle. She never smiled and mumbled everything. The venue itself is a very nice atmosphere, but was minimized by the service and other noisy patrons. Also, the parking is valet only.
Had dinner here on a rainy Saturday evening. Lovely ambiance! Limited menu for those of us with gluten intolerance. Shrimp and scallops risotto was fair and light on seafood. My husband enjoyed his Chicken Parmesan. The gf chocolate mousse dessert was the best part of the meal. My spouse enjoyed his tiramisu. Will return!🌹
The waitress was personable but the wait for food was ridiculous. My entree was delicious but my husband’s was a minor disaster. Because the waitress never came back to check on us he just ate what he could. Wouldn’t go back here when there are more reliable fine dining options.
Portion sizes have been cut. Ordered scallop appetizer and they were tiny , size of a cherry. Better off not offering. Also had the artichoke appetizer they were thrown on the plate. Had both of these many times and this was an extreme disappointment.
Had the Ribeye. It was cooked fine, but quality didn’t seem to be USDA Prime or Choice or even Angus. And, portion size was reduced.
Mother in law had some sort of Tortelini or
Something. Looked mushy, but she is not one to complain.
Lastly, more of a minor point but their bar offering of more popular brown liquors is very sparse.
Feels like they have become dated. Their are other choices. Maybe it was an off night, we spent a lot as we ordered. $100 bottle of wine for birthday celebration. At least that was good.
Service was excellent as usual. Special soup was tasty. Little Gem salad, chicken scaloppine, halibut, and crab cakes did not disappoint. Artichoke appetizer was not hot and the peaches on the burrata peach salad were not grilled as in the past. They were cold and not grilled. Cocktails were perfect.
We went to Vinny's because it was within walking distance to our hotel. The service was outstanding and most of the food was very good. Some exceptions were the polenta that came with the trout. It was very dry and lacked flavor. However, the trout was unbelievable. The risotto with shrimp and scallops. The risotto was undercooked but the shrimp and scallops were very good.
Overall, it was nice but that is all. The lack of consistency on the plates was disappointing.
This has been my favorite restaurant forever. Heartbreakingly, they decided to change the sauce on the lamb chops which has been the same for 20 years. The reason it has been on the menu for 25 years, is because it was perfect! Why change it?
A friend of mine, who odered TWO things which were bad; The muscles which were too spicy, with no notice that they were spicy, and her octopus was tough and too hard to cut off and chew . The crowning and inglory of it all, were the two cappuccinos that came out looking great, but were COLD!
This is my favorite restaurant, clean up your act! :-)
I brought my client here, a group of 16, and they take excellent care of me and my group. They assigned us two servers, awesomely suggested and help me pick out apps in advance so when my hard-working group arrived so did the apps which us allowed us more time to talk and have fun. Our server Sal was wonderful by answering group Qs, accommodating special requests, took our entire table's order by memory which still amazes me. Super warm and friendly. The manager, Mauricio, was super friendly, accommodating, etc. who was the person to most help me ensure my group had a great time. Highly recommend for any occasion but especially groups, parties and clients.
We had a wonderful time and the food and service were exceptional. We were celebrating a birthday and had a large party of 9. Open table did not notify us that they could not confirm the reservation in fact I have a confirmation email now. The staff was unaware of the added guests. We were afraid we would be turned away because of the confusion. We will not use this app again and will just call the restaurant for future reservations. Thankfully the staff averted a Birthday disaster and we had a great evening. Thank you Vinny's for working this out for us.
I wanted to give Vinnys another chance tonight after my last, less than enjoyable, visit. Unfortunately it was just as bad. The food wasn't terrible however my awful service by the bartender really set a tone for my evening. It seemed as if I was just an annoyance to her and was very impatient with getting my order. After asking a few things about a specific dish, she was visibly agitated by my questions. After that it was hard to even get her attention, for she seemed to care more about what seemed to be friends of her's. Won't be coming back.
The food and the service were excellent, but the noise level is high in this place. Not the noisiest place we've been, but still loud enough to make it a strain to hear each other. The attractive brick and wood decor cause voices to really echo. It actually wouldn't be too bad if they didn't also have "music" playing through the sound system. All you could make out was the thump of the base notes and it just added to the noise level. We sat in the central dining area. Might be quieter if you sit in one of the wings. If you don't mind the noise, then it is definitely worth the trip for the food and service.
An interesting menu with unique touches. Our server was on top of everything. Wine selection was very good. Food well prepared. My only issue is that it's a bit noisy. With 8 people in our group, it was difficult to hear from one end of the table to the other. That's a minor complaint and easily offset by the positives.
Either our waitress was overbooked, or they were short staffed. Been going there for years and this was the first bad experience. Every table around us had a similar experience. Too bad it was my wife's birthday. Also, many people in shorts and t-shirts on a Saturday night at 7:30... I felt over dressed in pants and dress shirt. I hope this place is not going down hill.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants; it will be awhile before I return. They used to have the best calamari, now the rings were the size of nickels and the serving is smaller. The grouper was dry and tough and the veal shank chewy. Their bar was not stocked to make one of their signature drinks. A disappointment overall.
The restaurant was half empty. I now know why. There's too much competition to slack off.
We feel fortunate to have such a nice place as one of our neighborhood "joints." Only one thing keeps us from visiting more often. The noise level is just cacophonous. If you are there when the place is busy, it is too loud to hear someone across the table. A little carpet and some draperies wouldn't hurt this place one bit. The food is always very good, but go with people you don't want to talk to.
