Vinny Vanucchi's 'Little Italy' - Galena Ratings and Reviews
Connor was our waiter. He was very attentive. It was Valentine's Day, so I'm sure he was a little busier than usual, but you wouldn't have known it from his having tended to us numerous times as we waited on our food. I like my ribeye well done no pink, so that was taking some time. We assured him we were in no hurry. We love the ambiance of Vinny's and have made it our dinner spot when we are up there to ski.
Our food was delicious!!! Cooked to perfection. We ate every last morsel and dessert on top of That! Connor brought me a divine gluten free chocolate cake that was the best gluten free dessert I've ever had! Having a food allergy to gluten makes finding good food tough. Not the case at Vinnys!
My husband and I enjoyed everything about our Valentine's dinner, and left a tip that we hope reflected this!!
We look forward to our return!

Food was “ok”. Nothing special. We had tortallini carbonara which tasted like it was out of a can, and the veal parmigiana was good but again the red sauce was just ok.
Our waiter was a bit quiet and didn’t clean the table between courses so dishes kept piling up. We were the only ones in the restaurant for the better part of our meal so it wasn’t that he was busy. Maybe he was new?
Overall experience was just ok but for the price there are much better options so we won’t be returning.
We had dinner on New Years Eve and it was disappointing. The waiter was difficult to track down, our salad was frozen and we had to send the steak back because it was very undercooked. My husband commented that his sausage ragu was no better than something we could make at home and the sauce was watery. Will not return and do not recommend.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We love the location, ambiance, and food. We had a wonderful time but a couple of disappointments. The server forgot to tell us about the special, which she did after we reminded her.
I had ordered a gin martini on the rocks. The waitress brought a martini up. When I told her, she agreed to exchange it, but the replacement did not taste right. It had a salty taste. I ended up telling the Maitre D' who quickly brought me a correct cocktail. I had Pasta Ala Vinny for dinner, which was excellent.
My wife ordered some pasta and asked if it could come with one meat ball. The server said yes, but when she brought it, there was no meat. We did not get charged for the meat ball.
So, not sure what was going on, but not the top notch service we normally get. All in all, still enjoyed our New Year's dinner and would probably return.
They worked hard to accommodate our group size changes. Food was3.5/5 overall among the group. Seafood was raved about...the veal was tough. Our service was nice, funny but lacked common sense. I.e.: if you serve a table of 8 3 different appetizers, you should make sure all have plates. Also, only one of us had silverware. Bring bread? Then bring butter and oil w parm. Overall, nice....we'd go back. The 3 flights of stairs in sub zero temps were a bit painful.
The food was excellent but the service was very slow. Not that our server wasn’t pleasant but he was young and too inexperienced to accommodate our group of eight. Also I made our reservation thru the open table link to take advantage of a $10 reward which Vinny Vannucchis would not honor. Our group of eight spent close to $400 which the inback of a $10 reward would have been insignificant. Our reason for booking this reservation was in part to take advantage of the reward .
Very good food here! This is the third time we have visited while in Galena. Have sat outside and inside, and each is great. I enjoy the food here alot. The service could be a little better. Our server on this past visit seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but at work. He did not offer us a wine menu, (we did ask for one), did not ask how our food was, if it was correct, or even if we wanted desert. He came to the table and tried to take our food before we were finished. Overall, he was not horrible, but i would expect a little better service for the price of food and wine here.
This was my first time Dinning at Vinny Vanucchi's, and overall I wasn't impressed. I wouldn't leave them a bad review because nothing was BAD about the experience. It just wasn't anything special for a $20 plate. The server was good, and upbeat but the food was lacking. I had the sausage ragu which was good, but like I said not worth the $18.95.
The overall experience was tremendous!! Food was superb, ambiance was amazing, and service was spot on. I even requested to sit near the wine casks because it is a little more quiet and they were able to accommodate me. I highly recommend it for anyone celebrating an anniversary or something where you want it to be a little more intimate.
