Vinnie's Steakhouse and Tavern Ratings and Reviews
The main course and dessert were very good. Our dinner ended well.
The waiter bragged on the bisque and I had that. I think it was the worse bisque I ever had, to be fair he also said they were almost out and perhaps mine was a bit scorched or something. I can't really pin down what was bad about it. Generally bisque is a favorite soup for me.
The salad, steak, stuffed potato, trigger fish, and creme brulee were excellent.
Unfortunately, I can not recommend. Young hostess needs work on customer service and how to properly interact with guests. Service was VERY slow, and the restaurant was almost empty. Food was fair. Crab cake appetizer was good. My special of the day: triggerfish was extremely dry and salty. I couldn’t finish it. Steaks seemed OK to the other diners. Our waitress was very pleasant. I don’t think the glacial pace of the service was her fault. No offer of anything free for a birthday, when Angus Barn brings you a cake. Will not be back.
Steak was charred I ordered medium rare came out charred and tough I sent it back only to have the manager bring the same steak back to the table She explained to me that all their steaks were cooked on a flat top , shocker I will not return Do yourself a favor and dine at Rays , Sullivan’s , Ruth cris or even Fleming’s
This was my husband's first visit; I was a return patron.
When we got there were told we wouldn't be seated until 15 minutes after our reservation. I understand this happens so it's all good. It was hard to get the bartender's attention to get a drink and then hard to get his attention to pay once our table was ready. The salad was forgotten. There was gristle in my filet (I didn't tell my husband). I love the place but I may have to do some convincing to get my husband to return. Thanks for asking!
Vinnies was delicious! It's not close to our neighborhood and there are other steak houses closer to midtown, but we will be back for a quiet dinner again. We made early reservations with another couple. Neither of us had been there in years. We were impressed with the food quality, the wine, beef and the side dishes, attentive staff (but not overly attentive), the warmth and classic ambiance. Not flashy, not loud, (even though there is a bar in another room), just great food and conversation. There are private dining rooms we checked out for office Christmas parties.
We had a fantastic experience. It was my boyfriend's birthday and we had driven down from Virginia Beach to spend the night in Raleigh. I actually had another reservation at a different restaurant, but last minute changed my mind out of worry; restaurants have great reviews sometimes but we can have terrible experiences. But I'm very glad I decided on Vinnie's. The food was delicious! It was true perfection, and our server was attentive and lively. I wish I could remember his name, he really took care of our table. The only complaint I would have is that I made a reservation and our table wasn't ready, which is important considering we drove down just for the night and don't have all that much time to wait. A couple that walked in before us had stated that they were early and made a reservation for half an hour after us, yet they got seated about 5 minutes before us anyway. We were waiting past our reservation time and we had to actually walk up and ask them if they were ready yet. I still liked the table we got, in the corner and private. I definitely will come back next time I am in the area.
We hosted a business dinner at Vinnie's and the restaurant did not disappoint! The atmosphere was perfect, the server was knowledgeable and attentive while the food was just as what we expected. I will be certain to use Vinnie's in the future for other business dinners.
Vinnie's has increased all menu prices by at least 25-33%. In the past, it was a good value for steak and seafood with a romantic, cozy ambience. Now it is as expensive as Angus Barn, and therefore not recommended for an average date night. Sadly, we will not be returning anytime soon.
We keep returning to Vinnie's for special evenings and once again we were not disappointed. Had drinks in the bar before dinner. Bartender always attentive and courteous and remembers our favorite wine from previous visits. Once seated, our waiter was prompt and informative. We were well attended all evening by our waiter without being intrusive. The appetizer was great. The filet mignon was excellent and cooked as ordered. The featured side item were very tasty and paired well with the steaks. We capped it off with a delicious dessert. I especially like Vinnie's as a place where its possible to have a quiet private conversation with your companion. A great place for couples.
We had Oysters Rockefeller, which were some of the best we’ve ever had. My husband had the house salad and I had the lettuce wedge. Each one was a meal in itself. My husband had the New York Strip, which was tender and cooked to perfection. I opted to have the shrimp cocktail as my entree, and the shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly. Vinnie’s does a great job, not only with their steaks, but with their seafood as well.
Food and service were excellent. Our Chateaubriand was cooked petfectly, and the wine was perfectly paired. Our dinner was on the expensive side but was a bit below the cost of similar food at peer restaurants. I would especially recommend Vinnie’s for special ocassions, in this case my 72nd Birthday.
