Probably best restaurant in the Hamptons
Vine St., Café is well prepared and tasty food, albeit, a bit overpriced. The outdoor seating area is very nice; and much more conducive to conversation then the inside rooms. The waitress, while nice, could not answer our questions about some dishes or beers. Oddly, no local / Long Is. is on the menu when there are several excellent breweries in the area. Overall, the food was good; yet there are other local restaurants which are equally as good or better.
Really delicious food - a little on the loud side for us, but we were lucky enough to have a corner table so that helped. No view - my husband was at a window that looked over dumpsters - they should clean that up!
We come every year and it never disappoints. Highly recommend the Calamari Salad! Steak is always great too.
Delicious food served by well trained staff. I had clams and seafood Diavolo. Well-heeled sophisticated clientele.
The vine cafe just has really tasty food! The service was great and everyone was nice. The food was delicious - meat and fish!
So delicious with fresh local ingredients. Very flavorful meal. Highly recommend.
This was my second visit within 2 weeks and it was not as good as my first experience.
The service was off ...it was lobster roll night and the roll was burnt...it took quite a while for the entrees to be served so we did without the roll.
However the bread is the best around. But I won’t be going back this season.
In all fairness I will give a try again next year.
We went on a Monday night. The restaurant was almost full but not too noisy. We ordered the bouillabaisse and the salmon and both were delicious. We will definitely be back.
Lovely evening. Delicious food. Helpful service. Sitting in the garden was perfect.
Noise was way more than "energetic" and their air conditioning was clearly not up to the task. Food was fine but there are better choices overall on Shelter Island.
We sat at a back table with no A/C so the back door was open and a huge bug flew onto my daughters napkin and we couldn’t get rid of it. I threw the napkin outside and close the door which made the room even hotter...
Great food and service
My first time was so good I’m going back again this week
The calamari was delicipus
The food was better than most Hampton's fare, but it seemed less exciting than in the past. The service was lacking, but it does pretty much everywhere in the summer. We will go back but probably not really soon.
Spent the weekend in shelter island and tried this place on a busy Saturday night in the summer. Inside looked cute but we sat outside in the garden patio. I ordered a bottle of Chardonnay and the waiter returned saying they were out. In the past when this has happened every time other restaurants offered another suggestion at the same price. Not here. The next price option was $16 more and I had to pay. Not happy about that. Salads were small and over priced. Pasta Bolognese was tasteless as was the homemade Ice cream. Bread was great. Way over priced for what u get!
Service wonderful. Very comfortable ambiance. Our dinner was Superb!
The Striped Bass (which all 3 of us ordered) was overcooked (all 3 of them) and was a very small portion on a bed of spinach. Nothing else on the plate. We knew it was pricey but were expecting the food experience to be commensurate with the price. It fell short. Will not return.
What a gem this place is -- both the food and service are wonderful. The prix fix is an incredible deal -- don't know how they do it! I really respect this place for making fresh food (not the easiest thing to do on an island -- since you have to get deliveries via ferry) and for being open year round. It is for both visitors and locals. Thank you for a wonderful evening! Actually two evenings, since we returned after having such a great first experience.
I had oysters, mussels and a upset stomach afterwards. Be careful what you order
Once again, a delicious meal with outstanding service
First time visiting and had an incredible time! Highly recommend this place and will be back for sure!
Delicious if pricey. Food consistently excellent and vibe relaxed.
One complaint- table was not cleaned before dessert and coffee.
My wife and I had an absolutely delicious meal here! We are looking forward to coming back again.
Service was exemplary! Food just as good. It's a special spot on a very special island!
Although infrequent diners at Vine we are there at least once a year when we stay on Shelter Island. The food was its usual outstanding self...the bouillabaisse in particular, so thanks to the kitchen. Our service this time was a bit slow. Prices are typical for better restaurants on island, which means steep, but that goes with the territory. If you are going to pay this much for a meal the food better hold up and it did. We will return.
great spot with continued excellent food.. Really enjoy the attention to gluten free options
Excellent food. Quiet, quaint and enjoyable ambiance.
Exceptanally wonderful dining experience.
Delicious and worth the sdvance reservation planning
Food was amazing! I
Service not up to par busperson front desk awesome
Vine street is reliably one of the go to restaurants in
The hamptons for us. The food is excellent , the service is first rate and the place itself, especially outside is excellent. Highly recommended , in my view the best salmon out here
I ate there a few years ago and loved it. This time the food ranged from poor to just ok. It is an expensive restaurant. I have much higher expectations. I was embarrassed that I made the reservation. I promised everyone that they would love it. That did not happen. I will not return.
Never had a bad meal here. The ingredients are incredible, the servers are knowledgeable, professional and passionate about local fare and the staff is beyond accommodating. We’ve been coming here since they opened and plan to continue dining here for many years to come!
Utterly delicious food and outstanding service. Beautiful space with a great atmosphere
The service started out a bit rocky this time, since it was a holiday weekend and we were the first to arrive for dinner. Definitely not the norm compared to the other three times we have eaten at Vine Street. The food was delicious as always.
Where are your plants or flowers. The entire environment, from outdoor parking/entrance to outdoor seating to inside needs a makeover. Place has not changed in the 5 years I’ve been going and the lack of any greenery is cold and I inviting.
Great food. Great menu as there were many dishes I would have been happy with. Waiter was good but rest of the seasonal staff was in serious need of better training. However, all was still very good.
If only service was as good as the food. Waitress spilled a lot of water on my wife and didn't seem too concerned. She left without cleaning up.
No one interested in how we enjoyed our food until billl was presented.
