We have been to Vincent’s many, many times but this last visit was not pleasant. We arrived at 5:30 for an early birthday dinner so it wasn’t busy. Our server had no clue as to what she was doing. We asked about wines by the glass and instead of giving us a list she said “uh, we have Chardonnay, Cabernet, uh, Shiraz “...no names, no prices. We had to ask what the specials were after overhearing another table being told by another server. I ordered the bone marrow appetizer...”oh, sorry, I forgot to tell you we don’t have that tonight”. Our petrale sole dish barely had had any fish but instead was practically all gnocchi which was terrible. We both left our plates full of the pasta after eating the minuscule fish and the server didn’t even inquire about it. Needless to say it was not a happy birthday dinner ! Not sure if we’ll go back again which is a shame because it’s always been one of our favorites.

My wife and I were attending a show near by and looked for a nice restaurant close to the Center for the Arts. I found Vincent's online and made the reservation. We had a great dinner, wine, and service. It was well worth it and we will be back again.

I can not give this restaurant enough praise! We have never ever been disappointed! I believe it is one of the top/best places to eat in San Diego, HANDS DOWN!! The menu changes often and the Tues-Thurs. specials are such a value for exquisite food. Can't wait to go back!

I love the warm, welcoming service second only to the amazingly delectable dishes. The 1/2 off bottles of wine special on Wednesday is a great come-on as the the fixed price menu they offer early in the evening. I have had only good food here. It is my go-to place for dinners with friends when I want a setting that is comfortable yet upscale, where I always feel welcomed and leave very satisfied.

We go to Vincents quite often. Very friend efficient wait staff, good drinks and always great food, every thing on the plate is thoughtfully prepared and seasoned well. Never needs salt or pepper though they are on the table. I found this place by looking online for the best French restaurants in San Diego area, they had great reviews and turned out to be close by.

We celebrated our anniversary at Vincents. It was our first visit. With cocktails, salads, entres, and dessert it was a $$$$$ meal. But this was one place where the food, service and ambiance was worth every penny. We'll go back and would highly recommend. It's perfect for special occasions.

Food is always consistent and good but the service is something they need to work on.The waiters are always in a hurry and seem to rush us out. They quickly clear the table before we have a chance to finish our piece of bread.I hate this in any restaurant!!!

I don't like to write bad reviews of restaurants, but the experience we had at Vincent was as described by other people who ate there. We ordered the salmon from the menu. Our waitress let us know that they had run out of the salmon and the other fish that was in the menu. She told us that instead they had a special fish dish. She never gave us the run on the specials before we ordered. Since we weren't interested in the fish special, the waitress offered a poussin, young chicken, special. I ordered the poussin and my husband ordered the chicken dish that was in the menu. After waiting for a long time for the food, the waitress came over and let us know that they had run out of the chicken dish that was in the menu. By this time, we had been in the restaurant for one and a half hour. My husband accepted to eat the poussin. We waited another twenty minutes until finally the meal came. The poussin, which is a young chicken and one would imagine that it would be very tender, was awfully hard and chewy. There was very little flesh that was eatable. Therefore, the portion of poussin was so small that it felt like we barely eaten. At this point we were so disappointed and frustrated that we just wanted to leave the restaurant... The whole experience was a comedy of errors... and that is too bad because the restaurant is cozy and has a nice ambience... I believe that the restaurant is not well managed and the chef either forgot how to cook well or he wasn't there...

We discovered this place a few years ago, and every year we've gone back. We're always reminded of how amazing it is, as if we forgot.

The bartender/server was great. Excellent cocktail, and great service.

The food is top notch. The beef wellington was exactly what I expected, and I have high expectations. Their surf and turf was also perfectly prepared. Taste and presentation were great.

I'm looking forward to going again next year.

Like I told our friend at the dinner table: there are only 2 French restaurants in San Diego we believe worth going: Bertrand at Mr. A's, and Vincent's. We did not come for an ocean view, or a TV-ladened bar scene, or patronizing services; we came for the food, and food only, and Vincent's won us over again. The braised short rib was executed perfectly like our previous visits, and the orange molasses-glazed half duck was just a symphony of food delight. While the pate was firmer and more meat than liver than what we had preferred, it was fabulous nonetheless. See you next time!

We enjoy the Continental cuisine with a creative touch. Everything was delicious. The service was attentive. It's pretty easy to find a parking spot in this downtown Escondido area for dinner. This was our third time at this restaurant. We have always enjoyed the food and service here!

The food was unfortunate. The only thing my husband and I thought was fine was the appetizers which we had was the mushroom ravioli...I ordered the beef Wellington and my husband ordered the beef short ribs papppardelle. Both were not good and we left more than half of our food on the plate and did not bother to take them to go...the desserts were also horrible. Restaurant week is supposed to make people come to your restaurant and to want them to come back but we will not be coming back at all!

We ate at Vincent's after making our reservation on OpenTable, so on arrival, we were surprised to find that it was San Diego restaurant week. There was no mention of it on OpenTable. There was also an end of season event that had the city packed.

The restaurant was overwhelmed to say the least. It's a small place with a small bar, but the tables are arranged so you don't feel too cramped. It looked like they added more tables to accommodate the crowd. The waiting area is a very small entry hall & it was packed to over pouring.

We barely made contact with our waiter, he was so rushed & sweaty he had no time to truly do his job. There was no check back & it took at least 1/2 hour to get an ice bucket. That kind of killed it for me.

After finally ordering, we waited another 45 minutes to get the first course. We were a party of 3, but a double, a party of 6 & another triple were seated 15-30 minutes after us & were being served. No one noticed we had been there for over an hour with nothing on our table. We finally told a bus boy & we had service about 20 minutes later, but it wasn't consistent. We think the waiter forgot to put our orders in.

The food was good, we had filet bordelaise, wild mushroom & short rib ravioli & coq au vin, but French should be served & savored, not dropped on the table & rushed. It wasn't the best atmosphere, but on another night I might recommend Vincent's.

Vincent's Restaurant Week menu was unbelievable. One of the best I have seen, though a few more dessert options would have made it perfect. The salted caramel chocolate mousse is to die for, as are the mushroom ravioli and the Maine lobster with gnocchi.

I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the food is here! Downside: the service was average at best - it took some time to be addressed when we walked in, we waited quite some time before our order was taken and they forgot to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday (which I had noted in my reservation and when we arrived). It felt as if our presence was bothersome to our server (a male working there on Friday evening). The gentleman that served our food was beyond terrific as he explained the meals we ordered.

The food was really good BUT the restuarnat WAS so HOT. 87 degrees. They said they could not do anything about it. Not enjoyable at all. My hair was soaking wet. Also they didn't have some of their food items. At least 2 of the things I wanted. But what I ended up with was really good. The heat just really ruined it.

My wife and I like to try new places on our "date nights". Vincent's popped up on one of the great restaurant searches I did for the Escondido area. I was surprised to find a great French restaurant in the area, but wow, was the food good. Not only that, but the staff was more than willing to answer any question we had regarding the food preparation and presentation. The wine we selected was also very nice and we now have a new place to add to our regular haunts for special nights out.

This was our first time here after hearing about it years ago. This was wonderful! My wife and I enjoyed an hour and a half long romantic meal cooked to absolute perfection. There are many shareable dishes on the menu and we found this to be a great way to sample more than we would be able to otherwise. The staff was perfect in every way. We can't wait to go back as we have finally found a place close to home worth spending our money at, which was a small amount given the high quality of food and service. I will definitely be showing this place off to friends and family.

Where do I begin? I made a reservation, not necessary. Very quiet, not a good place for a quick meal, fine with me, because it was my husband's birthday, mentioned on reservation and 3xs during meal, will be important... First, they were out of beef Wellington (our reason for being there) so, we chose the rack of lamb and short ribs. Absolutely decadent... melt in your mouth. I don't remember in description of the meal what it said comes with each but the potato latke was crispy and unexpected. The polenta cake, out of this world. No complaints there. Salad, out of endive... radicchio instead, made a slight difference. I wouldn't order it again. The tomato basil soup, slightly heavy on the lemon but my husband devoured it, so...back to the birthday. We recently ate at Le Bernardin in NYC and They threw in a dessert. It wouldn't have killed you AND it would've given us a reason to return. We will now think twice.

Vincents used to be a nice place. We drove from Carlsbad to enjoy the evening. The server was one of those types who starts talking as she is approaching the table. Didn't care that we were in a conversation. This was consistent and irritating. I ordered a Manhattan. Waitress came back saying they just ran out of Vermouth. How do you just run out of a bar basis? They had to be running out of it for weeks, because very little vermouth is used for a drink...of any kind. I asked her for a wine menu. It only had bottles listed. I asked for a "by the glass" menu, and she verbally and rapidly went through all the reds, never telling me the price. I couldn't remember any of them. I asked to see the list. They didn't have a list. Only a list for the bottles. She came back interrupting us once again with the specials of the day. It was 6 pm. Only two other guests were there. She carefully explained the special dinner entrée ....Pork Chops....and went through the preparation. Then said they only had two left, so if we wanted that, let her know so she could reserve them. How do you offer a special at 6 pm on a Saturday and have only two left? Did the other two couples eat them? I ordered the duck. It was dry and tough. I was going to ask for a chain saw, but didn't want to ruin it for the others.

Bottom line, Vincents has deteriorated since our last visit several years ago. It used to be one of the best places in town. We won't be going back. We passed too many other good restaurants on the way. Several just down from Vincents. The only enjoyable part of the evening was walking to the gelato store for dessert, a block away. Now that was worth the drive from Carlsbad.

At the prices they charge for the poor, untrained server and mediocre food, it is ashamed that the owners have not taken better care of their asset.

Vincent's is the best option in Phoenix for traditional French cuisine. The food and service are consistently good. Vincent cares about the dining experience of his customers and it shows in his presence, food and presentation. Thanks Vincent for always making sure that the desserts at the end of the meal somehow exceed your delicious entrees.

Having just returned from France, I can saw this was superior to any French food I experienced there! What truly differs is, you can leisurely dine in Europe and converse sans competition from music. I requested that it be turned down and it still was too loud. America seems to need more noise....probably it's just my problem.

Also, the a/c didn't seem to be working as it was quite hot at 5 p.m.-6 p.m. We requested cooler temps.

The special menu (3 dishes for $30) is excellent value. The mussels were perfect, the sea bass was cooked to perfection with delicate seasoning and petite vegetables with a lovely presentation. The tiramisu was generous in portion and delicious.
