it was restaurant week and three of us dined. we had both appetizers, which were plentiful and delicious. for entrees we chose the sunday dinner which was pasta and a stew of veal pork and beef. It was delicious. We also chose the shrimp and pasta, also delicious. Pasta made in house al dente. The panna cotta desert was yummy too.
our server allie was knowledgeable and attentive and friendly. the restaurant is a beautiful space and if you research vincent chicco you’ll find he was quite a character during prohibition.
Variety of menu items was poor, food taste average
Excellent food! We ordered the caprese and conservo for the starters,
along with the lamb shoulder and the shrimp olio specials for restaurant week. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees were FULLY portioned (whereas some others skimp on portions during restaurant week). The shoulder was very tender and the Olio was quite good but more spicy than to out tastes; next time we would ask for less red pepper. Our friends ordered the bruscetta and Sunday gravy. All Good.
Our server remained very attentive despite having numerous tables. She made excellent pairing suggestions. The vibe was was good, although the noise level made conversation difficult at times [fix the acoustics, yall!]. But we will definitely be coming back.
Because we were a party of 6 they put us upstairs - which was beautiful and had it's own bathrooms. We came for restaurant week and the food was excellent - from the huge & delicious appetizers to our main meals of Sunday Gravy, Shrimp Pasta and Chicken Piccata to the lovely desserts of Tiramisu and Panna Cotta.
Apparently, Vincent Chicco's have been closed for 2 years and then just reopened in August - we are so glad they opened - it was definitely a restaurant we would go back to.
First time at Vincent Chiccos and ate off the Restaurant Week specialty menu. The swordfish stew was amazing in taste and I love the burratta appetizer. Portions were unexpectedly generous as well. We'll be back again for sure.
Service was excellent!
Martini had no alcohol? Replaced, but no better.
Bread so hard, it hurt to eat. Never had Italian red sauce that was spicy/hot like mexican food.
Baked cheese in Eggplant Parm was hard like it had been microwaved.
Dine upstairs, if you don't want to sit a foot away from other patrons.
Disappointed, based on other reviews.
We loved Vincent Chiccos. Since we had a late lunch we were not starving. We had margarita pizza and the caprese salad. I just wanted a plate of grilled veggies. Shelby, our server made it happen. She was great - attentive to our needs the entire visit. The bartender makes a pretty amazing aperol spritz too
We had a lovely dinner with great service. The only issue we had was the noise level- it was way too loud.
OK food, unlikely to go back. Friendly service but limited wine list.
The food , waiter, wine, atmosphere were exceptional. The food was a great value for the price. The pizza and the fettuccine were very special. Our salads were delivered shortly after the entree so I chose to be finished with my beet salad so there was room on the tiny table for our entrees. Our waiter offered to rearrange the table so we could keep our salads, but who wants to eat a salad when your hot entree has arrived.
All that was ruined by the following experience: We were there at 430 for a 5:00 reservation. They seated us promptly and our waiter was truly exceptional!!! The only other couple dining there last night while we we’re there, we’re seated next to us, sharing a booth seat. The entire place is vacant and there is a pandemic , and they are seated right next to us. Well that would have been okay, but the gentleman was loud and obnoxious - was snapping and clapping for the waiter, complaining about everything , being ugly to his dinner date. We can not afford to eat out nice places like this every often and our once a month romantic dinner date was ruined by them.
We will defiantly come back, but I hope our entrees come out after we finish salads and we are the only patrons packed into two tables together when the entire place is empty
The bartender had too many tables and patrons at the bar to handle. He tried to keep up but we sat for over 30 minutes, clearly done without once being checked on. We finally had to call someone over. The pizza was almost inedible because it was burnt and way too salty. I’ve been there before with higher hopes that it would be amazing and it just wasn’t.
We’ve had many great meals here at VC! Staff is on point and the best bartenders in town! Attention to detail and pleasant attitude always! Thx VC for another good time!
Absolutely wonderful experience!!! Beautiful restaurant, excellent service, and great food.
Service was great and place was cute. The food was just okay and mediocre at best. We probably won’t go back.
Our waitress was great… everything after that… was not that great..
Limited menu due to News Years Eve..
Bread was brought ina basket with the olive oil.. olive oil all
Over the bread when it was unwrapped..
Bread was also cold.. we were given 3 slices at a time..
Food was not exceptional… or even good.. just kinda blah…
I expected more at that price point..
Loved the ambiance, food was awful. They were out of pizza which is half of their menu. Service was horrible. Would not recommend.
It was absolutely wonderful. Brian was the perfect server on New Year's Eve
What a wonderful NYE dinner! The staff was attentive. Brian, our server, was extremely accommodating, no pressure.
First diners in the restaurant, service was disappointing, plates from apps were still on the table when food was delivered. We had to move our app plates before they could deliver our meals. We were done with apps for 30 minutes before entrees arrived, how to track down servers for drinks. Food did not coincide with the price, really just a tourist place. Nice building
Chef Mercy’s Experience dishes were all delicious. Bruschetta from the regular menu was excellent too. Restaurant decor is very nice.
Ali was great- very attentive for a party of 8.
The food was delicious; the service was great. Not too noisy; ambiance was just right. The best place we ate at in Charleston.
Good, service and ambiance was excellent. A great meal and enjoyable evening.
Great food, great service! Would absolutely come back.
This was mine and my daughters Christmas Eve dinner. Our server was nice and I asked for her recommendation regarding the Chicken Piccata and she said it was good of course. This was terrible, no flavor and a BIG disappointment- a terrible meal for our special evening. I have this dish often in my travels and it was tasteless. The price point for our meal presentation and taste really bad!
Not sure why, as there were a number of other open tables, but we were seated right next to the kitchen. The noise from staff coming and going dampened what otherwise was a very nice evening. Dannie was a great server and took exceptionally good care of our party.
Everything was top notch. Service, food, everything was awesome! We started with the cheese plate then I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my husband had the Sicilian Sunday gravy! It was fantastic! We will be back!
The food was fair. I had eggplant lasagna and the cheese you couldn’t even fork through. Hard as a rock, had to remove it. It’s cheese for Pete’s sake, couldn’t melt.
We ordered an old fashion, came 1/2 full for $14, didn’t say anything the first time, although we noticed all other drinks coming out full at the bar.
We order the second one, and I made a comment that the first was half full, can we have a full cocktail. They charged us an additional $9, on the bill. A $23 cocktail. NO THANK YOU, that was ridiculous. If every cocktail coming off the bar, all cocktails should be equal, if they are in the same glass. Brought to her attention and she said, I asked for an extra shoot. NOT TRUE!! I shouldn’t pay $14, for four sips of a drink.
There was not enough staff to accommodate!!
I can say all this, as I worked in the restaurant business for 20 years. And in a high end restaurant in Chicago.
It was not a fine dining experience!!
The restaurant was busy and slightly understaffed during our recent visit. Even so, we had a very enjoyable dinning experience. Good food and very friendly bar and wait staff.
This is a great stop for anyone who wants a classic Italian restaurant. The quality of the food is outstanding and the service was great.
Dinner was absolutely amazing!! The service was excellent and we can’t to come back!!
Great food, attention to detail, not too loud.
The food was great and very reasonably priced, how it took us 1 1/2 hours to get our food.
Limited menu but all great options. Burratta salad was so so good
Food didn't seem like the food that you get in Italy which we have visited many times. We got pizzas which seemed doughy with not much in terms of fresh tomatoes and sauce. Food was Ok but not outstanding.
We were expecting the best Italian food we've had in a long time, and did not get it. Caico y pepe was bland and had no taste of cheese whatsoever. The spaghetti and meatballs were okay, but not great. I expected a delicious veal meatball and got something slightly dry and overall "meh". The waitress told my girlfriend, in a very condescending manner, that the resteraunt did not carry Disaronno, an Italian liqueur, because they were an Italian resteraunt and tried to stay authentic. Overall very underwhelming and will not be returning. We overheard many guests around us expressing displeasure with the service and food as well.
Our server was OUSTANDING and the food was delicious.
Overall our experience at Vincent Chico’s was a pleasant one. The atmosphere was delightful and we were seated and served right away by Sean, who was great! Our appetizer, the bruschetta, was among the best we ever had. The chicken parmigiana was quite good while the chicken cacciatore left a bit to be desired but was prepared well.
Great restaurant. I have been to the other restaurants by same owner and they all have been fantastic. Ali was our server and she did a great job, and the food was very tasty. We will definitely be back.
