Vince Young Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Great service. Menu was very difficult to read due to lighting and slightly small font size. Noise level was higher than last visit, because all diners were placed in the front two dining areas. Our dining area was very crowded, while the back dining area was empty. Dining room was a little dark to navigate through. Presentation of food was lovely. My food was slightly better than average. My friend seemed to enjoy her food very much. The young man at valet parking was very nice and efficient.
My reservation time was 8:15, I was not seated until 8:25. It was our wedding anniversary, we ordered our meal it took over 40 minutes. When the meal arrived the sides were cold. I ordered the perfect 10 steak it was 10 ounces of solid fat with 2 ounces of meat on the side of it. The Waiter was nice and I could tell he was doing the best that he could do. My wife and I did not say anything because we did not want drama on our anniversary.
Our party of four each had a different steak - the best of them was my son's dry-aged ribeye with a mixed seafood topper. All steaks perfectly seasoned, cooked correctly-medium rare for the table.
Wedge salad split in the kitchen for my husband and I, so we didn't have to do it ourselves. Small detail, but important. Great service, attentive but unobtrusive.
Good selection of wines by the glass as well as a robust wine list-on the expensive side, but this is a special occasion restaurant so it's to be expected.
We've been wanting to try Vince Young's, and living in Austin we have several steakhouse choices. We chose VY for the variety in the menu, and it did not disappoint.
This was our second time eating at Vince Young Steak House. Our food was excellent. I had the Perfect Ten steak (it's actually a 14 oz. rib eye) -- the flavoring of the steak was excellent. My fiance had the 8 oz. Filet Mignon -- the flavoring for her steak was excellent as well (we tried each other's steaks). We shared a house salad that was very tasty. We also had side orders of creamed spinach and potatoes gratin which were very tasty. My only recommendation is to come hungry -- I can normally eat a 14 oz. steak without much problem...however, I was only able to eat about 1/2 - 2/3 of my steak.
I eat out more than most, and had been a bit hesitant to try Vince Young Steak House. Hate to say it, but mostly because of the name. Lets face it, entertainers and sports figures aren't generally known for much, outside of their chosen profession. Anyway, I was looking for a decent steak in Austin. Most of the well known steak houses all serve meat from the same purveyor. So basically same steak, different places. Flemmings, Trulucks, Eddie V's, etc.... All the same. For a decent steak, generally I have to go to Bohannon's in San Antonio, or some of the many in Ft Worth. Anyway, I was delightfully surprised at the meal we had. Wasn't the typical lean/dry steak found elsewhere. We had the Rib Eye, Lobster, Asparegas with bernaise etc. It was actually good. So were the appetizers, Pork belly and lobster rolls.... We wanted the Fois Gras but it wasn't available for some reason. Over all, I thought t was decent. I will go back. I will say, that the Bar is hurting.... It reminded me more of a sports bar than a bar in a steak house. In fact, the bar was pretty dead, even though the restaurant was very busy. Which says a lot. I also thought the lighting level was a bit bright through out. They should tone that down. The wait staff was very attentive, and the menu was very complete. They should visit Eddie V's or Truluck's bar and get some ideas. This bright loud bar with no music and football on isn't good for much of anything, other than drinking a beer. Not drinking fine wine, and certainly not taking a special someone to.
Service was pitiful. I bought a two rather nice bottles of wine and had to ask for it to be Decanted. The waiter did not know how to do this. He poured the wine into the decanter and set it on the table and walked away. I started to pour the wine myself when another waiter saw and came over to pour. The sides were great. The Filets were good not great. We went to VYSH hoping for a terrific dinner and service. I’d highly recommend going to Perry’s . When you spend $500 for dinner you get both service and Food worthy of that kind of spend.
We have been here before and come back because the food is consistently good. The service is also excellent. We had reservations at 10:00 after a football game and never felt rushed or that they wanted us to hurry so they could leave. The perfect 10 steak is our favorite, and their sides and appetizers are great as well. We will definitely come back here!
I took my son, a freshman at the University of Texas, to a special dinner while I was in town on business. We enjoyed a delicious steak meal. The meat was delicious as were the sides. With a drink (for me), an appetizer, steaks and two sides, we got out of there for $185 including the tip. So it's for special occasions. But very good.
Vince Young's Steakhouse is absolutely amazing. Kip, Leslie and Carrie will take care of anything you want or need. Not to mention, the steaks! They are the best in Austin. In addition, the mac & cheese is a must have. We love this place! Don't hesitate to try it out.
The food was amazing!! Our waiter, Carte(sp?) was absolutely exceptional!!! He was well
versed in wine selections & food recommendations. We will definitely ask for him at our
next visit. We celebrated 2 separate birthdays at this outing, & both people felt special.
We had a reservation for 6:15, it was not crowded when we arrived. We ordered steaks, which is what they specialize in. We waited over 45 mins after appetizers arrived to get our main meal. Our waiter did not check on us for over 30 mins. We were told they were busy with a large group. We will not go back.
Vince Young's isn't inexpensive. But the food is well worth the cost. Really good. There are two things I didn't like. They serve complimentary bread, it should be served warm. And the steak knives are terrible, dull as dirt. It's a good thing the steaks are tender or they wouldn't work at all. These two items are very minor, I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
We took our son to celebrate his birthday and I indicated this on the reservation. Although, the food was great and the service was pretty good, I was disappointed that the restaurant did not do anything special for guests birthday's. Even a candle would have been nice. I told our server that we were celebrating our son's birthday, but still no special attention was made. I guess I should not have expected it. The prices are very high, but I guess that's typical now of downtown Austin restaurants. It is unfortunate that they charge a $12 valet parking fee, you will spend plenty at the restaurant alone.
Wait staff was great. Steak was a 4 on a scale of 5. Great wine list. I say noise level was high but it really was two people discussing family problems and were trying to out talk each other. The rest of the room was respectful and nice. Once the two people left the noise level was fine and we injoyed our desert. Unfortunantly it took to long for them to leave even though they had finished eat long before they left.
It was our 43rd wedding anniversary and really looked forward to a the evening at Vince Young. Did I say our waiter was great.
We had an amazing experience. Our server James was absolutely great. He made our experience enjoyable and fun. The ambiance was fantastic and perfect for our occasion. The meal was second to none. Best steaks ever, the appetizers were phenomenal. I recommend this restaurant to everyone that desires a great meal in any occasion
My second visit, and both were notable for excellent quality meat cooked skillfully the way we ordered. Well managed restaurant with knowledgeable, friendly and attentive staff. The wine list could be more extensive- I may consider bringing my own next time.
Wonderful restaurant with an amazing staff. Everything about the Vince Young steakhouse was outstanding! From the lovely seating to the low lighting to bring the romance out in the evening to the polite staff, the entire restaurant showed no shortcomings. An energetic waiter explained every detail of the menu, and walked us through our order, making the entire process easy and bump free. Our food arrived promptly and in a fabulous array! Who knew salad could look so divine. All the food came with wonderful presentation and even better taste. Nothing about the Vince Young Steakhouse will leave you dissatisfied except the sight of the door as you realize you have to leave eventually.
This is a very traditional steakhouse, in a good way. No big surprises but a nice variety beyond slabs of beef. The entrees give you some nice fish choices, chicken, and a wagyu burger.
The sides are predictable for a steakhouse which is good and they are done properly. The bone in rib eye was excellent and cooked exactly as described. Decor and ambience was very nice, dark woods, non-linear walls, comfortable booths, subdued lighting but not too dark. Service was very good.
4 stars vs. 5 stars? Price. I live in Los Angeles. I'm used to expensive meals and high priced steakhouses trying to outdo each each other. The prices at Vince's are too high by 20%. I really wanted the dry aged rib eye, but $85 was just silly.
I am a devout beef lover and I would go back to Vince's again because it's excellent. Just understand that they're pushing beyond the envelope on prices.
