The food was very good, but the noise level was intolerable this visit. It has always been loud the previous two times I have been there, but seemed much more noisy this time. We could not pursue a conversation. The restaurant was almost full when we were there. For this reason, I would not return. Isn't there some dampening equipment you could purchase?
Terrific food every time we come to Vinateria! Great decor: stylish, hip, well lit. Gorgeous bar, drinks and extensive wine list. Loved the pork chop, the Brussels sprouts and the monkfish special, and every friend’s plate of pasta was wiped clean. Bravo!
I've eaten there in the past, but wasn't impressed. That changed the other night. The food was great, and the service superb! I'll definitely be back.
I wasn’t sure the restaurant got my Open table reservation so I called. Tom answers and says come on in. When I got there he greeted me by name and brought us right to a waiting table. The rest of the evening followed suit with excellent table service and very good food. I would definitely recommend this plane to anyone looking for great food and service along with a warm and friendly Atmosphere
Vinateria is one of the best places in our neighborhood! We love it here :)
I love this place. (I live in the neighborhood.) The food is wonderful and unpretentious, the drinks are great, the service is lovely and the whole place is warm and festive. My latest visit, I was with four old friends. Almost everyone had brightly flavored salads and wonderful pastas. (I had the roast chicken, which is ridiculously good.) Everyone loved it -- and commented on how reasonable the prices are for such a delicious and lovely meal.
Went here for a date night, it was very crowded and very loud. Our “reserved” table was right next to the hostess station which was not very nice so we chose to sit at the bar instead. Really really delicious food, acceptable service, good wine, VERY loud, not much personal space.
The food was incredible, tho portions small... the service was kind but hilariously chaotic and not very professional. It was Valentines Day, so we’d like to try it again on a less busy evening:)
We love all: food, ambience, service,... And we will return.
Great service, great pasta, special appetizers, special NA drinks, and great location. Ok, this is a great special place! We really enjoyed my daughter's 19th. Thanks to all the staff. We will return.
This was our first visit to Vinateria. It was great 👍🏻. The food and service were exceptional. Will definitely return

ROCKAWAY BEACH NY
El sabor de los platos fue insuperable, hermosa presentación y una atención espléndida
Excellent restaurant week menu. Coffee and sparling water included. Great value.
Loved it- delicious food superb service amazing vibes! Went for restaurant week and ordered the croquettes, pork chop and chocolate panna cotta. Service was on point with attentiveness and knowledge, special shoutout to the guy who kept bringing our table fresh baked bread❣️Went at 630 and didnt seem too busy but it definitely picked up as the night went on. Recommend for dates, friend get togethers, and impressing people. Will definitely be back, the table next to us had mushroom polenta and brussels sprouts and it smelled/looked amazing 👌🏻
Lots of wine choices but none that were familiar. We finally chose a Pinot Noir (the only one on the menu) only to find out that they were out of it!!! We ended up ordering the waitresses suggestion but didn't care for it. The food was okay but not good enough to rate a second visit.
I had been here for drinks a few times in the past, but had dinner for the first time with an old friend last night.
Man, is the food good! I had the branzino, (which was lovingly deboned, flavorful and stuffed with spinach) and my buddy had the steak. We also ordered the brussel sprouts which came way before our entrees (we wanted them together) but were sweet and crispy and really delicious. I didn't drink, but my companion did, and really enjoyed his martini and two glasses of wine. There were too many kids and strollers for my taste (it was 8 pm on a Wednesday night), but overall the ambiance was lovely. The service was also good, my favorite waitress from Yatenga gigs there as well.
Definitely a nice place to go on a date.
You should go!
Very enjoyable, great service, excellent food. I would highly recommend
Very different and diverse wine list and great food served by friendly staff. The space can feel crowded and noisy depending on your table/location
We love this restaurant. I made a reservation for dinner for two. It was my husband's birthday. He didn't want to make a deal of his bday this year. Anywho, I mentioned in the online reservation that it was my husband's birthday and the staff made our little dinner out feel special as a result. We have eaten here several times before over the years, and the service is always impeccable, and the staff is amiable.
Came for brunch. The food was pretty good. It's really nice that the brunch options include a coffee, mimosa or bloody mary. Makes it a decent value; without the drink, it'd be a bit pricey. Unfortunately, service was not very good.
Friday night during restaurant week..... Place was packed, tables set tight, noise level elevated. Nice venue during a quieter night.
Menu is interesting particularly the pasta dishes and food is well prepared. Good but not extraordinary. Service is attentive, pleasant, professional. Wine list is varied, nicely curated, well priced. Excellent value.
Vinateria is definitely my favorite neighborhood restaurant in Harlem. It easily competes with fine dining restaurants in other neighborhoods in Manhattan. The octopus appetizer is quite good with roasted potatoes with an exotic flavor. The pastas, including the black spaghetti and the Paglia e Fieno Fettuccine ( oh my!) were phenomenal! For dessert the olive oil cake is a very nice finish to the meal. You really can’t go wrong at Vinateria.
Very enjoyable venue for a relaxed meal with friends. Very good wine list. Attentive service. All-in-all, a keeper.
consistent go to restaurant. never disappoints whenever I go.
Vinateria never disappoints. The food is always great and the service is impeccable. This time the food was even better than usual. I was here with someone from Boston and he was really impressed with the quality of the food.
My only small complaint is that the place was jammed and even though i reserved quite in advance we were seated at a table right near the door when I always prefer further to the back.
thanks for a lovely evening
Great Italian food with a good vibe. Pastas were great and easy to share, and some solid mains. Gem in Harlem.
The host and waitress were very attentive. They even charged my phone for me behind the bar. The veal meatball with polenta starter was pretty good. The meatballs were flavorful and well seasoned but my polenta was cold when it arrived. The brussel sprout side was delicious. Overall a nice Saturday night dinner experience.
Our waitress was attentive and informative without being overbearing. The cocktail was delicious (7ate9) and our grilled octopus appetizer was terrific, with other flavors adding to the taste: citrus, pepper. So good. My date had the hanger steak which he said was very good, but the broccolini and potatoes sides were even better. I had the black spaghetti with octopus, bay scallops, and mussels. The slight crunch of bread crumbs on top was a smart touch. It was delicious. We will definitely be back.
Cute restaurant. A few more items on the menu would’ve been great. Calamari was AMAZING! Goat Sausage Pasta was really good. Recommended Cabernet didn’t disappoint.
Server was extremely engaging and was very nice. I didn’t catch her name, but she was Caucasian with shoulder length hair. Thanks for the food pairing.
The service was impeccable! They asked whether we wanted to sit side by side or across from each other. They had been told ahead of time it was date night. Although we had one of the last sittings of the night, they DID NOT rush us out although it was Christmas Eve. The Greek wine recommended by the bartender was a real treat as we had no idea about Greek wine. It was our first time there but will not be our last time.
Vinateria is an amazing restaurant. The food was delicious for a reasonable price for New York’s restaurant. The portions are generous. The deserts are all delicious. Will definitely recommend it.
We came here on a Thursday night in December, and could not have been more pleased. From the very start, we felt as if we were treated like royalty. I had called earlier in the day to notify the restaurant that we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, and they clearly went above and beyond to make it a special evening for him. The drinks, food, ambiance and service were all exceptional. We constantly had our waitress and managers checking in on us.. I would be more than confident recommending Vinateria to anyone. Thank you once again for such a pleasurable experience, and helping to make my boyfriend's birthday a memorable one. We will be back!
We have been to the restaurant 3-4 times before, but not in the last 2 years. On this visit, a large group contributed to a deafening noise level. I enjoyed two primi dishes, but my husband found his pasta without taste. We intended to order dessert but the waitstaff was not on top of their game.
I love Vinateria! Second time in 1 week! Amazing pasta! Great Octopus!
Picked this restaurant off a map looking for somewhere to eat near the Cathedral of St John the Divine. Boy, did we hit the jackpot! The food was outstanding- one friend said he'd never had a better chicken dish, and he's a world traveler! The scallops with Brussels sprouts, beets and pork belly was so delicious! We had a great dinner overall, and will definitely return the next time we are in the area.
This place is very nice; been here several times. The food is good, made great leftovers. The service is notably friendly, efficient and knowledgeable.
Very pleasant restaurant, excellent food, good wines (at NYC prices) , attentive service. Recommended as a Harlem gem
This was our third visit and it NEVER disappoints. The staff is knowledgeable and professional and the food is perfect! It’s a small cozy place which makes it feel like you are not just a number. My favorite place in the city for sure!
A great place in Harlem near the Apollo Theatre. I had the grilled octopus app and the whole roasted branzino entree and both were very, very good. The rest of my party had the pan-seared scallops, the black spaghetti, and the rosemary pappardelle - all got rave reviews. Our server was efficient, friendly and adorable. She wrote nothing down during our ordering and everything arrived perfectly and was placed at the right person's seat. They didn't have the wine I ordered and as I was choosing another one, the manager (owner ?) offered me a better wine at the price of the bottle I'd initially ordered. Not necessary but a very nice touch. We'll definitely return on a future visit to NYC.
Looking for a good place to eat in Harlem that would satisfy everyone's pallet. This was the place. There was gluten free, vegetarian, Italian. it was a bit noisy, but we were seated in the back, so we could at least talk across the table. The maple cheesecake was amazing.
