Vin Santo Ratings and Reviews
Great restaurant and owners/chef aim to please. Food always good and they have some lovely wines. Owner/chef often checks tables to see how things are. Owner/hostess is good at making people feel welcome especially repeat customers. I do wish that on the decorations that they start to follow the less is more and get rid of the fake fall leaves in fall and butterflies in spring.
We love this neighborhood gem in Willow Glen and don't really want to send a review, because it will get too busy. Excellent Northern italian, Mediterranean comfort foods with a lovely wine list. Very friendly and energetic staff to help you. Parking is limited, but if you are a wine lover, carpool and believe in parking karma. Worth it!
The food was really good and and since we used a Groupon, the value was outstanding. Our server gave some really great menu recommendations and his wine selection was outstanding. He was nice but talked really fast and we felt rushed even though the restaurant was not that busy. Overall, I would go back, even without a Groupon.
interesting take on Caesar salad - kind of a wedge style of quartered romaine heads. tasty dressing. shared lobster ravs for an app and they were decent. The dough was a little tough at the ends. My husband got the pasta sampler plate and really liked it. I had the steak and it was ok. Maybe I was too full at that point to really appreciate it. The limoncello dessert was fantastic. Should have each gotten our own. :) Service was very good, attentive without being overbearing.
Wife and I were looking for a place to spend our anniversary when vacationing in San Jose. Vin Santo was a great pick. Good food, service, prices, and atmosphere. If anything was wrong with our experience is was that we dressed up a little too nice as it was our anniversary but that was our fault we didn't really know how fancy it was going to be.
was good- service was very good, the food was above average- pricing was good for what you received. This was the first time I went there and will be going there again and try other sections. I have the Spaghetti and meatballs, friends had Chicken Scaloppini (he did not like), other had Gnocchi (she like a lot), other friend had the Ravioli which she liked also.....
We hadn't been to Vin Santo for awhile. Not sure why - and it won't be long before we return. Our dinner was outstanding. Great food, great service and a fun evening all around. My daughter had a calamari/squid ink pasta that she loved, my wife had the salmon special and raved about it and my son and I both had a leg of lamb with polenta that was delicious and no knife necessary to cut the tender lamb chunks. Umberto was working the room Friday night and recommended an excellent Italian Sangiovese that paired perfectly with our lamb. Great evening with the family for my wife's birthday celebration.
Good for a date night. The food was good but wished there was more creative vegetarian options. Drinks were fantastic, service attentive and friendly owners.
I would only give it four stars due to the not so great dessert. As a finish to a meal , and a great date, you hope for a great romantic dessert . We chose the chocolate fondue. Horrible. The chocolate tasted old with nothing to it almost like melted old cooking chocolate. The dipping items were straight from an old pantry, packaged rice treats (hard as a rock..why not fresh?), hard stale lady fingers (that is not the Italian way) the saving grace was I was able to eat some fresh fruit(without the chocolate). Don't waste your time until they change that menu item. Hard to get s good romantics shared dessert anymore.
This restaurant was horrible in every way. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty, but we Still waited 30 minutes just to get a Caesar salad delivered. The Caesar salad was not made with Romaine lettuce or Other usual Ingredients ( they used red lettuce and then put toasted bread on it versus croutons, which was bizarre ). The rabbit dish was floating in a half a cup of watery brine that managed to soak the already congealed polenta and undercooked broccoli. The salmon was tasteless, and was served with asparagus that had not had the ends removed properly, so they were inedible. All in all we paid $95 for the worst meal We've had in a long time. On top of that, they had junk sitting everywhere in this restaurant…in the bathrooms, behind a room divider., near the back door etc. The Decor was beyond tacky, and all the junk just made you wonder how clean the kitchen was... AVOID AT ALL COSTS
