Great food. Loved sitting in the covered but open area seating. Great service. A tad pricey but worth it.
We love, it’s in our neighborhood; would go back, but wish it was a little classier!
After reading the reviews, my mom and I decided to try your restaurant. Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed. We found the food mediocre and not worth the price. However the service was excellent. The bar area looked nice so we might go again but only for drinks.
Great neighborhood Italian restaurant —welcoming staff
Server wasn’t very attentive. My wine glass and water glass were both empty for about 10 mins. Also when he took our order he stood about 3 feet away from us as people passed in front of him.
Wonderful. Food atmosphere and service.
I've been going to Vin Santa for a few years now, and every time, I'm always loving their dishes. There's a "regular" menu, and then a menu that changes weekly. Would definitely suggest choosing from the menu that changes weekly for people that go regularly, and if it's a first-time visit for you, everything I've had is good, so look at both menus. The Orcia Sangiovese seems to always pair well with whatever I'm eating, so strongly recommend you get a glass or two of that!
The restaurant is always noisy; wish there was some way to dampen the noise somehow. But we always love the food. Service is strong. It is rare that I see women waiting tables at Vin Santo. I wish there was more gender diversity.
We love this place. Great food and service. Perfect for dinner with friends or date night with your sweetie.
Easter Sunday Brunch- a buffet with both breakfast and lunch choices. Custom omelet stand, fresh waffles. Everything I tasted was good. Meal should include one drink, I feel. Bottomless mimosas mean you have to drink at least three to make it worthwhile. Very crowded and consequently noisy when we first got there.
Needed to find a table last minute and got very lucky that when my son said he wanted Italian, Vin Santo had a last minute availability. The food was excellent even for being late in the evening. The hostess and waiter were both attentive and engaging. Could not have asked for a more pleasant experience.
The food was perfectly seasoned and portion size was spot on.
I liked the setting. Feels like a neighborhood traditional Italian place on a pleasant business block in San Jose.
Folks were friendly. I just wasn’t blown away by the food. Huge portion size -unnecessarily big. They should serve smaller portions and charge less. Food just not special enough for these prices.
I was looking for great authentic Italian food and this surpassed everything I could have imagined!!!! From making the reservations to seating to eating!!!! It really was AMAZING!!! A small place and a little pricey, but well well worth it!!! Thank you for the best eating experience I have had in a loooong time. I’ll b back👍🏼👍🏼💜💜
As usual the food was excellent and the service superb. The restaurant is a bit cramped and noisy, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
Good food. A bit noisy. Our waiter was eager but appeared a bit green around the ears. Some delays in early attentiveness to our table. Excellent ravioli and desserts!
Best Carbonara!! Great service too!
We had a great meal and excellent service. I had the braised boar with fettuccine and my wife had the farfalle with lobster and shrimp. This place had been a dependable spot for years and we hope it stay that way.
Great food and great service! My wife and I got two free glasses of sparking wine each because of how busy they were that night. And we hadn’t even complained or anything! And there was nothing to complain about anyway. Would definitely go back sometime!
We enjoyed our dinner at Vin Santo, the food and service were excellent. It’s a very popular place - every table was full. But it was difficult to have a conversation because of the noise level.
Try the pear ravioli; they were delicious.
This is the fifth time I have dined at Vin Santo. There were 7 of us--friends who hadn't seen one another in a while. We wanted to share our experience of a Russian river cruise. We had a 5:30 reservation, and our table was ready. Soon the restaurant was packed - every table was full. The noise level was very high; it was impossible to hear one another across our circular table. The food was delicious and a bit pricy. At the end of the meal we went to Starbucks so we could have a conversation and show our Russia pictures.
I won't go to back for a Saturday night dinner, but I would enjoy going on a different day of the week.
Our waiter, Chris, was great. Appetizers, salads very good, generous portion. Lobster ravioli is can't miss. Must have. Steak with arugula salad, roast potatoes was just like Mom's
Bday celebration- amazing food
Excellent food and service (by Jason) was also excellent. Would return. Wanting to get together with an old friend so didn't want to be near the music provider.
Great service and food.
Beautiful evening spent at Vin Santo on February 18. They were still decorated for Valentine's Day. We were a party of four out for the evening and trying out a new for us restaurant. It was lovely. Food was delicious. Service was great. Highly recommend.
Great service from Umberto, stuffed salmon and branzino were particularly good. Love the French press coffee after the meal
Service was great and the food is amazing. So nice to see different types of food other than the standard Italian fare. The waiter's recommendation for a wine was spot-on delicious. We probably overspent our time but were never rushed. All in all an awesome experience.
My third time here, and this place continues to exceed my expectation of what a beautiful date night restaurant should be.
The food is amazing, the servers are great, and the wine pairing is spot on. Such a romantic atmosphere, and I'm so thankful to have found this gem!
Clearly this is a Willow Glen classic dining spot but the food was boring but generally well-prepared. Our server wasn't trying to impress anyone. She did not have helpful or confident suggestions or opinions regarding the menu. My wife and I each had the gelato for dessert. Her portion was about 50% larger than mine but had the incorrect combination of flavors.
We enjoyed the pear ravioli and we will definitely be back to try more
This is by far the best 🇮🇹restaurant I've been to in San Jose. Atmosphere is great, service excellence, and the food is authentic, and is really good. 10 ⭐ spot.
This team makes you feel at home
Open table reservation honored immediately. Our server was delightful.
I started with a grilled Romain salad. Delish! Two very lark full lettuce stalks were covered in goodies like palm hearts etc. dressing was great. Lettuce cold and crunchy.
My main dish was spaghetti carbonara with crispy pork belly. Outstanding. It was Wednesday night so we didn’t have to pay corkage for the win.e we brought. Tuesday’s you get 50% off the restaurant bottles.
There was entertainment and the place was a bit noisy but food and service were worth it.
Friendly service and tasty meal. It was very busy. I usually visit during a weeknight which is more calm.
Our experience was very good, our server was excellent. We had a nine year old with us and the server brought him a very special lemonade decorated with fruit & umbrella- definitely
made him happy! Each of us enjoyed the dinner thoroughly.
Great service, fun place, wine appetizers and salad were excellent. I ordered the boar and it was a bit too heavy. I should have known, after all it WAS boar. Next time I'll go for lighter Italian fare.
All over the place. We had two bussers, two waiters, two hostesses, a maitre d/manager and more, all constantly stop by. Very attentive to our satisfaction. No-one refilled water. Some of our plates were cleared. Waitress spilled wine on the table. Wine knowledge of servers was lacking as was polish for an expensive restaurant. Joker waitress said she sucked at bottle service after we asked for a recommendation. Funny but lacked refinement. Wine was $58 for a middle of the road bottle. 2 Entrees, 2 apps + Service was just under $200 for two diners = expensive.
Octopus and Potatoes Dish - 2/lacked taste, freshness and contrast. Octopus and potatoes were both very mushy and indistinguishable in mouth. Very bland dish. Silly Orchid Flower garnish.
Caprese Burrata Salad - 4/Delicious, Tomatoes were great for this time of year. Olives were a nice touch. Basil, Balsamic, Seasoning all great. Presentation was rustic. Orchid Flowers on Italian food?
Polenta and Braised Shortribs - 4/Gargantuan serving. Very good taste. Beef could have been braised a bit more. Silly Orchid Flower again.
Tagliatelle and Pork Flat Iron Steak - 4/Huge portion. Pasta was cooked and sauced nicely. Pork was flavorful. Fig Balsamic was nice on top but a bit too sweet when mixed with the pesto sauce. Again with the orchid flower, is this a Hawaiian restaurant?
I would qualify this restaurant as expensive for a neighborhood Italian place with informal service and a limited Italian wine list.
We liked the caprese and entrees. The wine that we randomly picked was excellent. The octopus dish is not something I would recommend. Service was scattered, informal and slightly intrusive. Ambience was nice and the hosts/management/service were friendly and engaging.
We would return and just order entrees and wine.
Always enjoy the food
Some noise, but part of the charm.
Almost always take food home due to fresh rolls
Wonderful food and service at Vin Santo last Saturday night! Their “create your own” tasting menu lets you choose a salad/appetizer, main entree and dessert for $42. Our entire group of 4 went with the option, and dined on spectacular homemade gnocci, ravioli and spaghetti and meatballs, with amazing salads and desserts to start and finish! We’ll definitely be back.
