Vin Santo Ratings and Reviews
This was a 4th year celebrating New Years Eve at Vin Santo for dinner. Welcoming atmosphere with a glass of presecco. Pre fixe menu of their greatest regular food offerings. They offer a wne pairing for your meal. Our waiter was attentive as well as the Chef and his wife. This is a great neighborhood find for Italian food. Would recommend this place for regular dining.
Throughly enjoyed the meal. The rolls served before the meal are amazingly good. I started with the Brussel Sprout Salad. Delicious. My wife had the grilled Romaine Salad. Yum.
Main course for my wife was Baramundi. Large piece cooked to perfect tenderness. I opted for the Risotto. Another large serving. You will definitely not leave hungry.
Our waitress was the owners daughter. She was personal, professional, and attentive. The owner stopped by to chat, not just with us but with every table.
We will come back.
Very good food & service on a holiday evening. The front half of the restaurant would really benefit from a thermal curtain hanging inside the door to keep the cold out on really chilly evenings as the door continually opens & closes with new diners. We had to keep our coats on throughout dinner.
Tge resaurant itself is darling. I hadnt been there in 10 years and after settling in I started to notice the unfavorable changes. It started with the hyped up horrible server who didn't have a clue as to what he was doing and should never attempted deboning the fish he was pushing. The women's restroom sewer backup was also a drag but the fact that the owner had the bus boy attempting unsuccessfully to resolve the problem instead of a plumber was beyond me. The view of downtown Willow Glen used to be lovely from our particular table but these owners have covered the lovely french doors with their advertising posting giving one an impression of taqueria versus fine dining. Food was under seasoned and unremarkable especially for the price. Don't waste your money for this wannabe noncontender!
Second year we went to Vin Santo before enjoying Christmas lights in Willow Glen, second year our whole family was impressed with the creative and delicious food. The menu is diverse and includes (good) gluten-free pasta which is a must for one family member. It was a cold night and we felt a draft every time the door opened, but that is the only negative to the evening.
I've taken friends to Vin Santo on a few occasions and it has always been a great choice. This time, the food, the ambiance and the time for conversation was absolutely wonderful. The only modest downside is that our service was a bit jarring! That is, our server spoke at warp speed (he was very busy) and his effort to be efficient and accommodating were more intrusive than I preferred.
Vin Santo has worked very hard to stay relevant in a competitive sub market. I feel recently that they have found a strong staff, and the food is very good. The overall sauce selection for each meal allows you to personalize any dish. Good restaurant for all occasions.
Excellent food, wine and dessert. The fresh made pasta, salmon, polenta, and Osso Buco were extraordinarily good. About as authentic a meal as I have enjoyed anywhere. The service could not have been any better, and having Chef Umberto and hostess Sharlene visit our table was a real treat. Love the place.
Great restaurant and owners/chef aim to please. Food always good and they have some lovely wines. Owner/chef often checks tables to see how things are. Owner/hostess is good at making people feel welcome especially repeat customers. I do wish that on the decorations that they start to follow the less is more and get rid of the fake fall leaves in fall and butterflies in spring.
We love this neighborhood gem in Willow Glen and don't really want to send a review, because it will get too busy. Excellent Northern italian, Mediterranean comfort foods with a lovely wine list. Very friendly and energetic staff to help you. Parking is limited, but if you are a wine lover, carpool and believe in parking karma. Worth it!
The food was really good and and since we used a Groupon, the value was outstanding. Our server gave some really great menu recommendations and his wine selection was outstanding. He was nice but talked really fast and we felt rushed even though the restaurant was not that busy. Overall, I would go back, even without a Groupon.
interesting take on Caesar salad - kind of a wedge style of quartered romaine heads. tasty dressing. shared lobster ravs for an app and they were decent. The dough was a little tough at the ends. My husband got the pasta sampler plate and really liked it. I had the steak and it was ok. Maybe I was too full at that point to really appreciate it. The limoncello dessert was fantastic. Should have each gotten our own. :) Service was very good, attentive without being overbearing.
Wife and I were looking for a place to spend our anniversary when vacationing in San Jose. Vin Santo was a great pick. Good food, service, prices, and atmosphere. If anything was wrong with our experience is was that we dressed up a little too nice as it was our anniversary but that was our fault we didn't really know how fancy it was going to be.
