The server was very sweet and other staff came over to check on us. However, the food was not good. It was Mother’s Day and it was a fixed price deal. We were given lots of food, but much of it wasn’t very good. It didn’t seem fresh or well cooked.
Great services. Friendly staff. We will be back.
First and foremost, the staff was great! Very welcoming environment from the team. They were very attentive and kind. The food was a big disappointment unfortunately. Apps consisted of bruschette and lobster and corn croquettes. The bruschette was delicious. The croquettes were obviously pre-made and had a very fishy taste, there was an overabundance of aioli and sauces. Overall, rather unpleasant. For main course we had the lobster ravioli and the braised short ribs with polenta. Starting with the lobster ravioli: lobster was fresh and delicious, sauce was very oily and the ravioli itself was in the shape of a bowtie creating thick and undercooked ends. I have never seen a ravioli so carelessly made. The short ribs were well made with my main complaint being it was completely bland when it arrived. After adding plenty of salt to the dish it was actually quite nice. For a ticket over $200 ( bottle of wine included) I was not impressed. I was hoping to find the quality found in areas such as Sonoma and Healdsburg but Vin Santo did not deliver.
Very good Tuscan food, super "Beritage" zinfandel, polite and efficient service, nice place with a lot of neighborhood vibe. Recommended!
From the time you walk in the door to walking out, you are made to feel appreciated. Everyone is gracious - - genuinely. Waiters will give you honest thoughts about the menu items. Ample portions. Food is flavorful. Worth driving to Willow Glen from Sunnyvale/Sta. Clara/Los Altos etc! Free parking.
Great set up for COVID guidelines. Wonderful food & service as always.
As usual the food was excellent. This restaurant has also managed to create comfortable outdoor seating with the same ambiance of a high class restaurant. I love this place!!
The food was great!! Thank you to the owner for the mermaids for our anniversary!! A big thank you to Norma for recommending us to go there!! Can’t wait to come back!
The food and service is always impeccable! Umberto is the best!
Great restaurant ,great food and service is excellent our server ana was attentive we will return
great food and service and 50% off a bottle of wine on Wednesday was a bonus.
I have to admit, I do enjoy eating outside. The night was chilly, but there were enough heat lamps, it was not an issue. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food was incredible. I had the Cioppino (a must have), and my eating partner had the veal parmigiana. For each of us, we made the face and MMMMMM noise in our first bite of our respective dishes.
Vin Santo is one of our favorite restaurants so it was nice to see that it made it through the pandemic. We ate outside in the protected patio which was a little chilly as it was a windy night. They had heaters and brought us blankets also. The food was as good as usual and the menu was virtually the same as pre-pandemic. Service was excellent as usual.
Service and food was great
Great location, service, great food
The wild boar is amazing, excellent service. Outdoor and indoor seating
An amazing date night. We sat on the back patio and it was beautiful. Love music, perfect service and fantastic food. We will absolutely be back. Best COVID dining experience this year. It felt like we were able to escape the pandemic and find a little corner of normalcy. We appreciated the hand sanitizing/table sanitizing spray, the masks and cleanliness. Vin Santo went above and beyond.
Side note: the tomahawk dinner for two was great!
Great service. Ok food.
Doing the best possible job in a COVID situation. Outdoor dining was nice and spaced out with heaters provided. Food was good and service was fine. Lots of running around trying to cover tables in front and back but was fine.
I just did
Our meal was very good. We had to wait 30 minutes beyond our reservation time, but understood with Covid seating restrictions, that this was beyond the control of the restaurant. Host/owner was very apologetic and brought us a glass of champagne while we waited. Food was great! Our waitress didn't really check in with us after we got our food and we had to wait about 5 minutes when we finally flagged her down to get cheese and salt/pepper. Same came to getting dessert menu and order. But would definitely go back.
Cute outdoor dining area. Staff was AMAZING.
Celebrated a birthday, great experience!
We went on Valentines so there was a pre fixe menu. But all the food we had was good. Our server was very friendly. It was well spaced for Covid. I had a very good experience.
I had never been there before but had heard a lot of good things from friends. My husband and I enjoyed the meal very much. The service could have been a little better. Our server was very busy going from table to table so it took him a while to get our requests. We waited a while before receiving our tab so we finally asked another server for it. All in all, it was a nice experience.
This was our first visit here and we will be back..with friends. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable.
We always have a wonderful dining experience at Vin Santo.
Always a delightful experience. We are so happy that alfresco dining is allowed again. It is like going home but even better because everyone makes us feel like family and the food is fantastic. What a jewel Vin Santo is to the San Jose community. We are truly blessed.
Always good and always friendly
Vin Santo never disappoints. Umberto's food is truly authentic Italian. Been going here since they opened 10 years ago and have never been disappointed. The pasta dishes are so amazing with homemade pasta. The best and most authentic lasagna I've ever had outside of Italy. Service is great - staff is super friendly.
Very nice! Service was amazing and the food was delicious. The staff and owner were very attentive.
Very impressed with how Vin Santo has made dining during covid special for there customers
This was the first outdoor dining available this year (1/26/2021). We were treated sooooo well. The food was tremendous. the DJ was playing tunes. All this despite RAGING winds and rain. Added fun drama. Tables were at least 7 feet apart. Can't wait to return very soon. Thank you everyone for making my husband's birthday dinner perfectly memorable.
I cannot say enough good things about Vin Santo restaurant. These folks aim to please. Their food is delicious and hospitality is great. They made many accommodations due to Covid restrictions to make it safe and enjoyable for their patrons. I highly recommend Vin Santo.
Food was excellent.Staff was attentive, kept heaters going to keep us comfortable. The decorations helped us forget about covid for a little while.
Everything was awesome the whole family loved the food, service & ambiance. Can’t wait to return soon!
Sunday dinner with the family - Vin Santo is our go-to. The combination of warm ambiance and excellent, creative and classic food fill the dining room with obvious good cheer. This is a world-class local gem that keeps upping its game despite Covid.
We had a 5pm reservation. As we were first in line (yes, there were several people ready for 5pm Friday dining) we were asked if we wished to sit at the sidewalk tables or "out back". "Whichever is warmer" we replied. So we walked through the restaurant to a semi-enclosed dining area they had set up in their back parking lot. Very nicely done, by the way, with heaters. We were given our choice of tables. (All quite a ways apart.)
Our server, Elatania, was excellent. Bread and water were served (really good bread, with dipping sauce) and our drunk order taken. Note: Sparkling water only comes in a liter bottle, at $6!
They split a salad for us (the "Insalata Mais" and it was delicious. My wife ordered the lobster fettucini ($27) and enjoyed it, but it is a lot of the same thing. An excellent dish to share for 2-4 people. I had the "Assaggio", ($27) which is your choice of 4 of their ravioli or gnocci, mix & match. This gave my easily-bored tastebuds a treat. I had 3 of their ravioli - each with a unique sauce - and gnocci with gorgonzola sauce. (Hint - the ravioli with pear in it is practically a dessert!)
My glass of wine was $14 and huge - probably a 9oz pour. I had the better Pinot Noir and it was delicious.
So, while Vin Santo is our new favorite Italian restaurant, it is a bit on the pricey side. Even spaghetti is $24. But the most expensive entree is just $32, so not TOO bad. And when indoor dining is allowed, this is a fancy place which more than justifies the prices. Highly Recommended.
I love Vin Santo! This was my first visit since Covid, and we ate outside. The food was wonderful as usual, our server Katy was delightful, and we had a wonderful evening to celebrate my birthday. Owner Umberto is very creative and I was interested to see that he's offering live music some nights, has a movie night on Saturday's, a wine special, and more. I've been coming to Vin Santo for over 15 years, and it is my favorite restaurant.
