Always look forward to having dinner here. The food is great ,the staff welcoming and attentive.
I would come back for dinner again. Our server was new but very knowledgeable, friendly and on point. I would not have tried the restaurant but I had a groupon deal that enticed me to give it a try.
Service was ok. Prosciutto appetizer was buried I arugula hard to find anything. Took over 30 mins to get main course 7pm on a Saturday but didn't seem overly busy? Waiter was apologetic but disappeared. My burrata half order of ravioli showed up. Only one ravioli had filling. My date's Pollo, lemon bacon dish was way over lemoned. Waiter said desert was on him. Figured he would ask what we wanted? He brought a pile of tiramisu? $123, on a single dad date night. I had really high hopes too as a downtown resident.
Amazing meal. Our waitress Katie was super friendly and made the evening a great experience for us!
Love Vin Santo! Dinner was with 2 couples, we shared what we ordered. Once couple ordered the wild boar ragu (Cinghiale) which was excellent. We ordered the Tagliatelle with the flat iron pork steak, and it was outstanding. The bread is always wonderful, our server was great, and we had a great evening.
Definitely will never ever ever go back and or bring a date here omg! How embarrassing. Brought a date here, thinking it would be a nice dining experience at an Italian restaurant. You think Italian food you think romance, right? Not here. First impression. SUPER LOUD. Food was mediocre, especially the spaghetti. Taste like they're using Wal-Mart pasta or something. Service is slow because it's packed. The prices are outrageous for mediocre tasting food. Seriously, don't bring a date here unless you're trying to ditch them.
Sadly, I had not been to Vin Santo in quite a few years and I need to make sure I do not let too much time pass before going again. My dinner was fantastic!
The parking in the area notwithstanding, the food, the service, and the ambiance were excellent. We ordered the 3-course service, and it was worth the price. The food portions were so huge, we decided to take half of the serving home. We actually arrived before our scheduled time, but they had accommodated our early seating.
Fabulous food, as always! The place is always a bit on the noisy side...but even more so on a Saturday night! We come here often, and get the tasting menu...which is a great deal! The only glitchy thing is that this is the 2nd time the dessert was charged separately, even though it’s supposed to be included in the price. Both times, however, it was quickly taken care of after pointing it out. In all fairness, both times it’s happened on a busy Saturday night. All the staff is incredibly accommodating, friendly and welcoming. Service is great and timely, even when busy. Can highly recommend the Cioppino, butternut squash ravioli, the short ribs and the Salade rossa! These are our personal favorites...but everything here is good! Portions are very generous. We look forward to returning soon!
Called Vin Santo to ask what the corking fee was for one bottle of wine. I was told $15 but sometimes the server will waive the fee if you have a "cool" server. When the bill arrived we were charged $20 corking fee. When we explained what we were told on the phone, the $20 was removed from the bill. There should be a standard fee, $15 or $20 or the fee should be waived.
Great food and service. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the future.
Always a great time at Vin Santos. A bit of a hidden gem in Willow Glen, but they have been there for years.
I like that they always have a full list of seasonal special beside those regular dishes that we love.
This place is a must try for those who have never experienced it.
Always welcoming and excellent choices with helpful and pleasant help
Pretty good Italian food: fresh, homemade pasta, interesting flavors, good selection of wine.
Their tasting menu is a good deal. Loved all the food that we ordered. From the calamari app to the caesar salad, and from the creola pasta to the dessert. Service was great also!
Off night? Penne Bolognese was not warm and the noodles were not drained so the sauce was watery. The lobster ravioli with pancetta were dry. Been here many times and this was the first disappointing dinner.
My daughter and I had a wonderful dinner at Vin Santo! We will be back there very soon with more of our family!
Food and service were very good. There was a bit of background noise so if you want a quiet dinner for conversation, this may not be your place.
Great food and value. Large portion sizes for a reasonable cost. It's Italian, so I sort of expect this, but I'd be happy with smaller portions (might have tried an appetizer, but glad I didn't...I was stuffed!). Very good service as well.
The Valentines Day dinner had a fabulous fixed price menu with wine pairings for each of four courses. The menu options were diverse and all very appealing. Our meals were superb! I highly recommend.
Vin Santo is a nice restaurant, a bit noisy and a bit cramped. Our food was good to excellent as 2 dinners were really good and the other 2 were not. The Polenta was hard and no juice whatsoever. We asked our waitress, Sonia who was very nice, if the kitchen could give us some juice to pore over our dish which also had short ribs. It took some time but it helped a little. Sonia mentioned our issue to the manager and the two short ribs dishes were comp'd. We were very pleased! We will give them a second chance in the near future.
We enjoyed ourselves very much. Great service. I would like to see some veal dishes on the menu.
Always good. Our favorite restaurant in San Jose.
I would love to give Vin Santo more stars. The food was incredible, the portions generous, and the service very friendly. However, the noise level was incredible, and coupled with the slow service (it took 2 hours to finish a meal, with 20-30 minute waits between courses), I had a headache by the time we left. Price is on par for Bay Area restaurants, and it did feel very authentic.
Everything was just okay.
The food is always great here and the service was as well I would definitely recommend them to everyone!
First time at Vin Santo, although been living in WG for years. It was amazing: the service, the house bread, and the main course. I would highly recommend and will be going back. Great selection of options on the menu and the staff was friendly and warm. All around lovely time!
Burrata salad was awesome! Will definitely order that again.
It was my birthday. The restaurant did an event at the Village. I loved the food, service was great, such a
Wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Found a parking space right in front. i would strongly recommend for delicious, unique fare. Cant wait to go back 😁😁👏👏
Quality and quantity of an entree overpriced for average italian food. Bread was good though. Beer on tap selection limited. Overall, just ok.
Had a nice dinner pre Elton John concert and enjoyed the experience......pasta was fresh and service was great. Nice neighborhood spot!
One of our favorites! We go to Vin Santo often, sometimes on date nights, sometimes with our kids. It's a pleasure each time
Service, Food quality, preparation and presentation were outstanding.
What a huge disappointment. Been here many times and was looking forward to an excellent experience again this year. New Year’s Eve and the fix priced menu should be the easiest night for execution of meals and service, but apparently Umberto must have been off. Everything started well; great parking spot right out front and seated at window table (Yeah!). That’s where the accolades end.
Asked for wine paring with the meals and we must have had a new waiter because he seemed to understand but didn’t. I ended up just ordering a couple of glasses (which came late - already on the third course). Speaking of service, no replacement of utensils during the meal so when main course came, waiter realized this and just handed us new napkins with cleaned ones. There had to be no QA on the food as the lobster bisque was so salty it was inedible (one would think that as a waiter you would notice 2/3’s of the servings coming back to ask why, but no). The berry sauce on the sea bass was atrocious and and boar dish was just mediocre. Best dish of the night was espresso over vanilla gelato. They ended up comping the wine but I know for sure that I will never entrust this restaurant with a meal on a special day, and will not return. Just sad...
As usual, WONDERFUL! We so enjoy our dinners/date nights at Vin Santo.
As an extra bonus, sweetly and festively decorated for the holidays.
Looking for great evening? Look no further!!
You cannot go wrong on anything that is a special, especially if it has Umberto's name on it.
We had a beautiful meal with the Orata, Salmon, and Bread Pudding. While all of the staff are awesome, our favorite server is Jason.
There is nothing like Humbert’s meat balls
My wife and I had steak and spaghetti with tomato sauce, the steak was cook exactly the way we like it, the spaghetti very delicious had a second plate that we shared. Very good experience for our anniversary celebration.
Food was tasty, if not a bit overpriced. Ambiance left something to be desired...red lights around the perimeter of dining area are odd and not pleasant to look at and paper tablecloths, no thanks.
Was my wife's birthday and went with two other couples.
Service and food was excellent
