The Valentines Day dinner had a fabulous fixed price menu with wine pairings for each of four courses. The menu options were diverse and all very appealing. Our meals were superb! I highly recommend.
Vin Santo is a nice restaurant, a bit noisy and a bit cramped. Our food was good to excellent as 2 dinners were really good and the other 2 were not. The Polenta was hard and no juice whatsoever. We asked our waitress, Sonia who was very nice, if the kitchen could give us some juice to pore over our dish which also had short ribs. It took some time but it helped a little. Sonia mentioned our issue to the manager and the two short ribs dishes were comp'd. We were very pleased! We will give them a second chance in the near future.
We enjoyed ourselves very much. Great service. I would like to see some veal dishes on the menu.
Always good. Our favorite restaurant in San Jose.
I would love to give Vin Santo more stars. The food was incredible, the portions generous, and the service very friendly. However, the noise level was incredible, and coupled with the slow service (it took 2 hours to finish a meal, with 20-30 minute waits between courses), I had a headache by the time we left. Price is on par for Bay Area restaurants, and it did feel very authentic.
Everything was just okay.
The food is always great here and the service was as well I would definitely recommend them to everyone!
First time at Vin Santo, although been living in WG for years. It was amazing: the service, the house bread, and the main course. I would highly recommend and will be going back. Great selection of options on the menu and the staff was friendly and warm. All around lovely time!
Burrata salad was awesome! Will definitely order that again.
It was my birthday. The restaurant did an event at the Village. I loved the food, service was great, such a
Wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Found a parking space right in front. i would strongly recommend for delicious, unique fare. Cant wait to go back 😁😁👏👏
Quality and quantity of an entree overpriced for average italian food. Bread was good though. Beer on tap selection limited. Overall, just ok.
Had a nice dinner pre Elton John concert and enjoyed the experience......pasta was fresh and service was great. Nice neighborhood spot!
One of our favorites! We go to Vin Santo often, sometimes on date nights, sometimes with our kids. It's a pleasure each time
Service, Food quality, preparation and presentation were outstanding.
What a huge disappointment. Been here many times and was looking forward to an excellent experience again this year. New Year’s Eve and the fix priced menu should be the easiest night for execution of meals and service, but apparently Umberto must have been off. Everything started well; great parking spot right out front and seated at window table (Yeah!). That’s where the accolades end.
Asked for wine paring with the meals and we must have had a new waiter because he seemed to understand but didn’t. I ended up just ordering a couple of glasses (which came late - already on the third course). Speaking of service, no replacement of utensils during the meal so when main course came, waiter realized this and just handed us new napkins with cleaned ones. There had to be no QA on the food as the lobster bisque was so salty it was inedible (one would think that as a waiter you would notice 2/3’s of the servings coming back to ask why, but no). The berry sauce on the sea bass was atrocious and and boar dish was just mediocre. Best dish of the night was espresso over vanilla gelato. They ended up comping the wine but I know for sure that I will never entrust this restaurant with a meal on a special day, and will not return. Just sad...
As usual, WONDERFUL! We so enjoy our dinners/date nights at Vin Santo.
As an extra bonus, sweetly and festively decorated for the holidays.
Looking for great evening? Look no further!!
You cannot go wrong on anything that is a special, especially if it has Umberto's name on it.
We had a beautiful meal with the Orata, Salmon, and Bread Pudding. While all of the staff are awesome, our favorite server is Jason.
There is nothing like Humbert’s meat balls
My wife and I had steak and spaghetti with tomato sauce, the steak was cook exactly the way we like it, the spaghetti very delicious had a second plate that we shared. Very good experience for our anniversary celebration.
Food was tasty, if not a bit overpriced. Ambiance left something to be desired...red lights around the perimeter of dining area are odd and not pleasant to look at and paper tablecloths, no thanks.
Was my wife's birthday and went with two other couples.
Service and food was excellent
Really nice setting for a birthday celebration!
Watching “Becoming” afterwards
Nice fun noisy place. Great service. Food ok and reasonably priced. Good place for family gathering.
Vin Santo is in a great location. The atmosphere is romantic yet friendly. The wine list is small but good. The food is good - but a bit heavy - but that is probably just Italian food! I'd definitely return to this restaurant.
Excellent food and service as well.Warm and welcoming ambience.
This is our favorite spot for a nice dinner. The food is always great and plentiful. We go every month or two. Free corkage on Wednesday’s.
Excellent selection of appetizers, entrees and deserts. Staff was great. And decor of restaurant was festive.
Pasta was not homemade and sause was watery. Meatballs were mostly sausage and tough. Ravioli fillings were good, but the pasta was too chewy.
I have been a fan of Vin Santo for years, and had a hankering for their wild boar ragu with fettuccine, so it was my choice for celebrating my birthday with two other couples. We were seated quickly, our wine opened, and bread served almost immediately. The food, as usual, was excellent! Vin Santo is definitely my go to place for special occasions, and since I live in the neighborhood, I have to remind myself to go more often just because!
We have eaten at Vin Santo 3-4 other times and we have never been disappointed. Creative appetizers, very tasty entrees and tasty desserts. We will definitely come back. It can get a little noisy but it's worth it!
Wonderful food. Nice, efficient staff. A bit noisy. Excellent wines.
Only problem we’ve ever had here is the noise level on weekend nights. Been going for 7 years and just love the brunch, early bird, and dinner. One of our favorite South Bay restaurants.
Solid as always!
Great place to have a date. Food was amazing. Will definitely become an everyday dinning place.
Made a last minute reservation on a Saturday. Hostess sat us on patio bistro type seating. Indoors white table cloths. Surface was uneven so chair was wobbly. Omar our server did a nice job - no real welcome - it was our first visit. It is wine and beer only establishment. Food started with shared best salad very nice started along with bread with oil and balsamic. Entrees I had Penne Bolognese which was good, not the greatest. Wife ordered Butternut Squash Ravioli flavor was good, but the ravs were made with too much pasta. Not thin half moons - thick and doughie. Fondue dessert did not come with rice crispy treats as noted on menu. Group of 4 millennials in this area had one in their party who was very loud and at times vulgar. Ruined atmosphere for us another couple having a nice quiet dinner.
This was my husband and my second visit. We enjoyed our first meal there and decided to go back. The restaurant was less than half full at 6:30 on a Friday night. This time we were greeted by a disinterested maitre d which, honestly, was off-putting from the start. It took several minutes to be acknowledged by a server and service continued to be slow, though we don’t consider it to have been her fault. We ordered individual salads, a pasta entree each and a bottle of wine. My spinach salad with pear had 2 pear slices and was uncrispy and at room temp (this was not supposed to be a wilted spinach salad.) My husbands strawberry watermelon salad had very few strawberry slices. The house bread is like Wonder bread. I’d expect a crusty Italian bread at a nice Italian restaurant. Our ravioli pasta entrees were undercooked. Al dente should not be chewy and sticky. Was really hoping for a nice impromptu dinner out, but will be seeking a better local Italian restaurant.
I had the wild boar pasta and wasn’t impressed. Looking at the prices and menu I expected a fancier place, but it’s very casual, not elegant, and not what I was expecting.
Enjoyed our birthday celebration for a family member. Waiter was helpful and attentive.
Food was delicious! Ample servings.
Will go again, soon.
You can never have a bad time at vin santos
