Vin Santo- Wisconsin Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic evening celebrating a birthday. Service and food were top notch. We had four different entrees and everyone loved what they had. Our waiter was always one step ahead anticipating our needs. It is a cozy space with a variety of seating options. Highly recommend.
We had the ravioli special (goat cheese and sun dried tomato), which was excellent, and then we followed it up with an even more fantastic spicy sausage lasagna special that they had. SO GOOD. Easily the best lasagna I've had in the states. The only points I'd take off as far as ratings go is for the wine list (honestly just pretty sad), the tiramisu (huge portion, but really mediocre), and the the decor was a bit drab (but cozy!). The hospitality was nice and friendly, and the savory dishes absolutely make up for anything else, though! We'll definitely be back.
Very well run, efficient wait staff who share duties. When the food is up even the hostess may deliver it. Water refills, everything done quickly and unobtrusively. Very good food, this is one of the few places in Madison where I'll order the seafood "frutti di mare" given that I know it will not hold any surprises. Limited (still covers most tastes) selection but excellent wines by the glass and served in Bordeaux style glasses that are harder to tip over and are more than a 5oz pour. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and make reservations weekends.
It was our first time to Vin Santo-WI and we were not disappointed. The pasta dishes were outstanding and in particular the pasta special. It was some of the best ravioli I've had - portabella mushroom/cheese filling with a pesto cream sauce. Yum! Also glad we saved room for the Italian bread pudding. Unpretentious atmosphere, but a most enjoyable dining experience. We plan to return.
The restaurant is very small and quaint. However, I feel like they squeezed too many tables in to the room. You were constantly be bumped by other customers and staff.
The food was not bad, just average. The pasta sauces seemed very bland. Service was nice, especially considering how busy they were. It did take about 30+ for our food to arrive after our first course. There kitchen is very small.
We celebrated our anniversary there with our 3 children and 2 young grandchildren. It was perfect. They were quite accommodating to the children, and we never felt like we shouldn't have brought them. They even prepared a simpler pasta dish for them. Our server was quite attentive. Food was wonderful, very tasty, yet not too spicy. Generous servings. My husband ordered the sausage with pasta. It was so much meat he couldn't finish it all. Tiramisu was gigantic, we ordered 2 and took some home. Everything tasted home made, and prepared with care. We will definitely return.
The service was terrible. The waitress made us feel as though we were a burden to her evening. The food was highly priced. We had a dinner at a nearby restaurant two days prior that was exceptional at Villa Dolce and was half the price. The staff at Villa Dolce was far superior and very polite.
We were in Madison visiting friends this week and we decided to go do dinner here, based in part on the Open Table Reviews. Each couple split a salad and an entree which was plenty of food, especially given that we also split an appetizer. The smoked salmon appetizer was very good. The Caesar salad was good but it was a little overdressed. We also split the dinner pasta special which was a mushroom ravioli and it was quite good.
We had been told that the portions were large so we were glad that the waiter agreed that a salad and an entree would be plenty of food.
Fresh pasta with delicious sauces and seasonal sides. Their tiramisu is the best I've had outside of Italy, but be prepared to share! Gluten-free and vegetarian options as well. My only complaint is the low lighting but that's minor. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was pretty good but this is a small restaraunt and has too many tables for comfort. We were sat near a closet door and I was bumped twice by staff squeezing through the narrow gaps between the tables. Salmon was excellent and portions generous. Needs a paint and air vents cleaning. I would go back.
The server was inattentive at best (at one point the bartender had to alert him to the fact that I was attempting to order something) and in general did not seem like he wanted to be there.
Food was very meh and went well with the "we couldn't be bothered" feel that the entire restaurant exudes. It wasn't bad as much as it was boring and uninteresting. I would rather have a much smaller portion of something more exciting and flavorful.
