Vin Santo- Wisconsin
We've dined at Vin Santo for many years and consider it one of the top spots in Madison/Middleton, with lovely, attentive service and sumptuous Italian fare. It's fun to take uninitiated friends with us, as we did the other night, and they couldn't believe they hadn't discovered it years ago. They'll be back, as will we.
Good food! Great pastas. Try the tiramisu it is fabulous! One portion feeds 4 people. I love this restaurant.
This place is amazing. The food is incredible and the service is phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience.
However fair warning. The ambience may not be for everyone. There is a cow skill in the wall (lit up by Christmas lights due to the holidays). Every table is a different style and there were not more than 2 of any kind of chair in the whole place. It’s like they just kept going to Goodwill until they found enough of what they needed. For us, we considered it as “quirky” and it only added to our experience and the “fun” of the place. But for others, despite everything being meticulously cleaned, it may be a turn off.
If you can accept the quirkiness for what it is, or just plain look past it, you can be assured you will have a wonderful dining experience!!!!!
A delightful, cozy atmosphere, exquisite food!
It was a nice place, service was spot on, food was good and plenty of it. Nice place to dine
Everything was great. They know what they are doing, perfect service speed and great food. Will be coming back. But make a reservation!
Food was delicious with large portions. I will be dining there again soon.
Comfortable, casual bohemian-ish intimate atmosphere. Very good food in almost super sized portions. Reservations recommended especially on Friday and Saturday. Highly recommend.
Great food, though bare tables and hard chairs were a drawback.
Excellent food and a very friendly and efficient staff. The whole experience was a positive one.
Love this place we return to it again and again for both the food and the friendly atmosphere.
Excellent service. The most attentive restaurant for my challenging dietary restrictions.
Vin Santo is our go to for a great meal! We are always pleased with the service and quality of the food.
Fast, friendly service; interesting, tasty food. Moderately expensive. Bit crowded and bustling. Not ideal for quiet conversation.
Great food and service
Vin Santo is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is well prepared and tasty, the wait staff is efficient and knowledgable and the prices are reasonable for the quality. It’s small and cozy and we always stop in whenever we’re in the area.
The food is outstanding and portion sizes are very generous. The service is impeccable. The decor is cozy and welcoming. This is my favorite restaurant. The owners are lovely. Make a reservation!
The dressing on the house salad was outstanding and the salads are really good size and easily could be shared by two people. All four people liked their main course as well and the portion size allows for another meal.
The food is always delicious and comforting when you need an excellent Italian meal. The service is always top-notch and very friendly. I would absoultely recommend this restaurant!
The food was really wonderful. I had a butternut squash ravioli that was creamy and delightful tasting. The staff was friendly and attentive without invading our social time. The atmosphere was quaint, warm and comfortable. We will definitely revisit this place next time we are in town.
This is a small restaurant and tables fill the available space. The kitchen is small and the menu is limited, e.g., no veal or other beef dishes, the only pork appears to be sausage, only one fin fish offering (salmon) on our night - the emphasis is on chicken, shell fish and vegetables. My fresh 40-minute lasagna (is it always link sausage?) was prepared with only two layers of noodles, one on the bottom, individually baked onto the serving dish - but quite tastey, once freed. The other three members of our party ordered the "special" squash ravioli which they deemed well-prepared and delicious, as it should have been at the "special" charge of $26 per plate (vs. the $18 price asked for the regular-menu ravioli). The starter calamari and misto salad were fine, as were the large meant-to-be-shared tiramisu and bread pudding desserts (@ $10 each). The house wine, @ $9, is the only wine available by the glass, and the selection is limited. Oh, we have dined at Vin Santo before and will, undoubtedly, do so again, as my wife really likes the place!
Delicious food, creative nightly specials including appetizers. Ready for our reservation, even seated us early. Great place for coues date night.
Vin Santo is all about excellent food and excellent service. We have enjoyed dinner here many times and have never had a bad experience.
As usual, our meal was superb! I had the pasta of the day, and it was awesome.
Warm, friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Family owned and operated. Attentive, knowledgeable staff. Excellent cuisine. Our favorite area restaurant.
One of our favorite restaurants in Middleton! The calamari and seafood dish is wonderful!
This was a lovely find for us! Four diners all had amazing main courses. The appetizers that we got to share were phenomenal. The wait staff was friendly, informative and attentive. The ambiance was comfortable and cozy. All in all - a lovely experience.
UW Homecoming weekend so very busy. We were seated promptly, service was great and so was the food. But it is always great.
high quality italian food. A good amount of choices on the menu. nice intimate restaraunt. It was nice to get reservations on a friday. I will defnately return.
Definitely worth a visit. Great wine list an excellent food. Large portions, everybody had a take home tray!
Great place to enjoy a quiet dinner with good friends. Special ravioli was soo good.
I really enjoyed everything with my meal. I was warned the portions were large and they were. Service was good and the food was outstanding.
Kind of a hidden gem, though the locals are clearly in the know! Great food, perfect service and very clear that the establishment takes pride in their cuisine.
No award points for scenic view or ambiance; but for quality food served up on a diner-diverse menu by attentive folk, couldn't be better!
Thanks for the experience!
After reading the reviews and looking at the menu online, I was excited about dining at Vin Santo. I was pleased with the atmosphere and the service was great. Unfortunately, all 4 diners in our party were underwhelmed by the food. Everyone's food was bland -- pass the salt! I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta, which contained barely a hint of garlic -- just cream and butter. My spouse had the "spicy" pasta dish, which had virtually no kick to it at all. The flavor just wasn't there.
This is probably a good restaurant for those wanting a filling meal (portions are big), but who don't have high expectations for taste.
Also, be careful if you take your leftovers to go. The restaurant uses flimsy styrofoam containers that gape open. Anything with a sauce will spill out, which is exactly what happened to one of us -- olive oil all over his pants! I called the owner to let her know, and she said they've always used those containers and have never heard a single complaint. I think they should take a closer look at their packaging, maybe test it out with some leftover saucy pasta.
Enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere! Great place to meet friends at!
Our favorite, and right here in downtown Middleton. Great staff, food never disappoints, and the tiramisu - Oh My!
Adam was a Wonderful Waiter and the experience was Terrific! WE'll be Back!!!
The restaurant looked a bit tacky. It needed cleaning, a good paint job, chairs that matched and just an all over update. The food was okay, sauces all the same.
Best Italian food in Dane County by far. We have been coming here for 20 years and have never had a bad meal. Small, neighborhood, family owned and operated restaurants are our favorite. This fits the bill perfectly.
Cozy family run restaurant in downtown Middleton. Delicious Italian dishes but don't forget the bread pudding, unbelievable.
