Vin de Set Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated our 10-year anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make our experience memorable, including a card signed by the staff. Very professional and friendly staff, especially our waitress and the maitre d’. The food was excellent (as always). We love the unique cuisine and ambiance.
Service was not good we waited for 10minutes for waitress to show up first time and then at the end it was even longer after we finished .We wanted desert and coffee but it would have taken too long. Not sure if the they were short handed or just bad waitress. Food was luke warm also and when you order chateaubriand you expect better . Also we were set in the outdoor enclosure and next to the framework to outdoors and it does leak cold air in . Either next time we will call to make sure we have a place in the restaurant or we won’t go back
The food was not as good as usual. I think Valentine's Day may have been a bit much for them to handle. The food is typically outstanding. The service was off as well. I've never had to ask for water, twice for a drink or waited for them to clear dishes. They have always had exceptional service. Last night wasn't bad. It just wasn't typical Vin deSet.
Came with a party of 10 for a baby shower brunch, put us upstairs in a semi-private area and it was fantastic! We didn't even ask for that spot. The brunch had unique options but also traditional favorites. The staff was friendly and fun, definitely recommend for a night out, special occasion or a group function!
Surprisingly good! Why haven't I hear about this before? We will be back.
They have a lot of options if you want to eat healthy; they even had a vegan menu. The highlight was the roasted butternut squash, dried cranberries with Swiss chard and walnuts. The Eggplant Napoleon was also very good, as was the Shrimp crepes. However, the Kale salad was a bit boring and simple.
The music and decor fit with the French bistro theme, very appropriate.
Our French waitress was very professional and helpful.
Parking was convenient and easy.
Went there for my wife’s birthday and when we sat down our waiter handed her a birthday card signed by the entire staff. Food was great, service was excellent and the view of St. Louis was nice from the enclosed patio. At the end of the meal, our waiter brought her a creme brûlée desert (her favorite) and it was a perfect end to the night.
We love Sunday brunch at Vin de Set. It's located close to St. Louis city so it's convenient, there is plenty of parking and most of all the food and service are both outstanding. Brunch is buffet style, with separate waffle, carving and omelet stations. They even have a make your own Bloody Mary set up that is only limited by your imagination. Roof top dining and a historic building make this a unique destination.
My husband and I were celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary. As soon as we were seated our server came and brought us 2 glasses of champaigne, on the house. He made sure to wish us a Happy Anniversary and did a great job of making sure we enjoyed our evening. He was able to answer my question about the wine options, recommend his favorite dessert, and checked on us frequently.
I surprised my wife with reservations and she was extremely pleased. The food was absolutely delicious. I was a tad surprised to see a couple in jeans... but that did not deter from the city sky light and ambiance. Will definitely visit again, when in St Louis.
Our experience would have been better had the area been warmer where our table was and had our food been hot. The three women all ordered crepes as their entrees, and the waitress was aware of this, but she brought them out first when we were expecting them after our salads. The food was really good though and we will return!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in St. Louis. The food is always unique and delicious. We love the personal attention from the entire team - from the hostess, to waiter and chef.
The service is impeccable with a nice personal touch where you feel like a guest, rather than just another customer.
Every New Years Eve (NYE), we come to Vin de Set to celebrate our anniversary which is on December 31st. We've been coming to Vin de Set on NYE since 2013. Our visit to Vin de Set last year (in 2016) was amazing while our visit this year (in 2017) was not. My biggest complaint was that our waitress did not acknowledge that it was our anniversary even though we included this piece of info on our reservation and it was again brought up when the restaurant called me to confirm our reservation. The couple at the table next to us were also celebrating their anniversary and they received a little card and complimentary flutes of champagne while we received neither this year.
As far as the food, I had the 4-course prie fixe which was good for the most part. Our waitress did keep trying to take our plates though before we were finished. Our first course (the beef carpaccio) still had 1/2 of the food on the plate and she kept reaching for the plate/asking if we were done with it. This made me feel rushed to hurry up and get through the 4-courses.
I hadn’t been to Vin de Set in a couple of years & am sorry to say that while the service & the space are both delightful, the food was only good, not great. Entree prices are high for the quality of the cuisine. Little things like the kale leaves being left huge and hard to manage in an otherwise delicious salad matter at this price point. I hope we just hit on off night, the night before New Year’s. I still want to believe in Vin de Set...
We had to change our reservation time due to unexpected, very heavy traffic and the restaurant made no issue of it. Everyone enjoyed the food, surroundings and atmosphere. The restaurant is relatively quiet so it's easy to have a conversation. Very nice wine list accommodating every taste and price range. Definitely planning on returning.
The special for the night was prime rib. My friend ordered the dish medium rare and my husband and I split the prime rib--ordering it medium. All of our meals were incredibly tough. The tasteof the potatoes with au jus was tasty enough. The side order of asparagus was nondescript also. Our waiter offered to change the dish, but by the time we had been served, it was getting late. The manager did take our meal off our check, but we were very disappointed in our experience. We have been patrons of Vin de Set for years and this was really our first unpleasant experience, but with so many other restaurants to choose from, it will be a while before we return.
Very good main plates and first courses. Appetizer (Alsacian tarte flambe) was just so so. Ordered two glasses of white wine which was served too cold (a common problem.) A "classic french bistro" should serve better bread with the meal. Service was attentive, and not too intrusive for a USA restaurant.
Charles, Sara and new server, Dani made our evening so much fun. They made awesome recommendations and really were fun and engaging. They really added to the evening. Great food, wonderful wine, comfortable atmosphere all wrapped up with a great service team. . . perfect evening!
