Vin de Set

Food was excellent! We particularly enjoyed the sea bass and the cheesecake. Our server was very efficient and unobtrusive which suited us well. We sat on the post which provided for a lovely view and a romantic atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!
Service was awful! Food and ambiance could have saved the day but the service tanked the night.
Vin de Set is an amazing place to go to when the weather is nice. Hard to beat their patio! I got their watermelon gazpacho that was very appetizing and a great start to the meal. For entree, I got the snapper, which was delicious. Chilean wine we ordered was great, too. The only thing that was really underwhelming was the dessert. We got the dessert trio (chocolate), it was very disappointing especially because everything else was amazing! The presentation could step up, too. Gazpacho came in a shallow bowl that made it look very messy, and the entree looked fine, but could have been better. Overall, the food is very good, I just hope the dessert was as good as the others.
The view was nice. Appetizers we're good. Steak was overcooked and had to be sent back, was just okay after that, salad was missing several ingredients. Our dessert was not good at all. We expected more from the reviews and for the price.
All great, Morgan was a terrific server. Just wish I didnt have that half-dead planter hitting my head and blocking my view on the patio.
My mash potatoes were lumpy. The steak was very good. Sitting outside was wonderful. Beautiful view.
Wonderful atmosphere on the patio! The food was delicious. The service was sub-par
My husband and I had been to Vin de Set many years ago when you first opened and also ate frequently at 1111 Mississippi when we traveled from Memphis to St. Louis. We also attended a couple of events at VDS which were not in the actual restaurant. My husband died about 2-1/2 years ago and a friend came with me to the restaurant and we loved it so much. I kept asking myself what kept us from going back. I think St. Louis has so many great restaurants that it is hard to choose when you are there only every other month or so. But last Saturday at Vin de Set was perfect in every way. The weather was 100% perfect for outdoor dining.
It was my birthday
Service was great and employees were very attentive!
The server and the bar was unable to help us pick a full bodied wine. Lack of knowledge of the wine list led us to pick a poor wine for the first bottle. We like full bodied red wine.
Delicious as always. Inside gets a bit loud.
We went here for Sunday brunch. Some of the food was just good, some was excellent, and nothing was bad at all. The service was friendly, attentive, and very helpful, and the overall atmosphere is incredibly charming.
Gorgeous lighting in a rooftop setting overlooking the St. Louis Arch ! Love the old brick buildings in this neighborhood. Excellent & attentive service. Beautiful and delicious food & wine. In our party of 4 we enjoyed baked brie, steak, pasta, and snapper all prepared to perfection. Topped the evening with a variety of Nutella crêpes, profiteroles & a cream filled chocolate cake. Highly recommend this spot that was previously recommended to us by family & friends!
View is great ! Service too . Drink menu is average - cocktails could be better .
Food is blah - I suggest chef tries his food - definitely missing something.
It has been a number of months since our last visit; with fall approaching we wanted to enjoy dinner outside. We got a table along the rail where it is quieter and we had a great view of the Arch. The Red Snapper was perfectly prepared, creme brulee was delicious. Will definitely return.
Appetizers were delicious- (baked brie and potato/Gruyere cheese balls) House salad was also delicious!
Snapper dinner entree was delicious, steak/frittes was also good. Chicken was recommended, but definitely a disappointment. Creme brulee was complimentary for our daughter's bday (with a personalized bday card signed by the staff!) and was very good. Wine recommended was also delicious.
Sat outside on a beautiful night- so that was quiet enjoyable. Hadn't been in a while, so glad we tried it again. Food wasn't as outstanding as we had remembered, but still had a good evening.
Based on service not top on my list.
Server brought lemon slices later and on a paper napkin. Water not refilled in a timely fashion. Seemed stressed and it wasn't that busy. Roquefort burger delicious!
Everything was great!
Held a birthday dinner for 7 persons and all had a very good time. Our server was training a new employee and they did a great job together. It was evening and both the weather and the view of the city was perfect. Both our wine selections selections were very good; but check the vintage as it often a younger wine than listed. We had a variety of fish entrees, all of which were properly cooked and plated nicely. We ordered raw oysters, while reasonable fresh, were shucked in a manner that left a bit of shell edge which detracted from the experience and we mentioned it to our server. We eat here at least once a month and always look forward to a return visit. It's always a safe bet to take out-of-town visitors here for a good meal.
My birthday dinner. Great service, great food and the roof top area can’t be beat!
Super service by Charles, made the meal most enjoyable
Good meal and excellent waitress - knowledgeable and helpful. Entrees and wine is a little pricey, but overall a very good experience.
Pricey for a buffet
The Brunch Buffet was wonderful, complimentary Mimosa, Bloody Mary Bar, Prime Rib, Smoked Salmon with accompaniments, and all the regular breakfast ‘stuff’ plus a plentiful dessert bar! Definitely would come back!
Everything was amazing!!!
We had a great time. Some guests/tables were quite loud.
This restaurant is one of my favorite in St Louis. Most recently the weather, view, and excellent food combined to provide a lovely experience combined with great conversation.
Overall a very mixed experience. We were there for our anniversary. While they acknowledged it when we arrived at the hostess stand, it was never mentioned again. We were seated outside overlooking the parking lot. If we had to do it again, we would request being inside based on that view. Appetizers were ok. The croquettes were delicious, while the cheese board was not as good; odd accompaniments and overpriced for what it was. I ordered a salad and the onion soup for dinner. The soup was wonderful, but the mixed greens salad was lacking in flavor. The description said it had a champagne vinaigrette but it was not detectable. My husband ordered the chateaubriand which he enjoyed but the mashed potatoes were very dry and lacked flavor. He had in fact ordered the frittes instead of the mashed potatoes but they brought the mashed potatoes instead. This was quickly remedied and the frittes were good. Service was adequate. Again, our anniversary was not acknowledged, and as the night became busier, our server was less attentive. My husband would have enjoyed another class of wine but was never offered one, nor was he given the opportunity to ask. And speaking of wines, my glass of white was not very cold whereas my husband’s Cabernet was served straight from the fridge, which was odd. Overall a very mixed experience and not quite the special occasion we expected for our anniversary.
Enjoyed a nice night eating on the roof top patio. Food was good, as was the service.
Always a great experience. Went a bit early to beat the crowd. Food didn’t disappoint and service was outstanding!
Overall, the dinner was nice, but our waitress was not at all friendly and service was slow.
We loved our meal and experience at Vin De Set. It was a rainy night so we were inside but the inside dining area was beautiful. Ask for Charles, he is so lovely and made our night that much more fun and special!!
Sitting outside on a late summer morning should be a delight, and was except for the rain. The rooftop is a wonderful place with view available in no other public space. Buffet was wide enough to satisfy all tastes as it included roast beef round, salmon, shrimp, crepes, eggs and the ubiquitous mimosa. I ordered a cafe au lait and they understood what that was and produced a foamy delight.
I hope your brunch does not include the rain but try anyway and you can always go inside and sit at a table or the bar.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a better patio to spend a gorgeous night in St. Louis than Vin de Set's rooftop, overlooking the city skyline. Food and service are just as great!
Rooftop dining was awesome because it was a gorgeous 74 degree STL evening.
Very good service and the food was excellent. Sitting on the deck added to the enjoyment.
Always love going here. It was a perfect night for sitting outside.
The ambiance was the best, our waitress was wonderful! The food was not good at all, it was tolerable, and excessively over priced!! 4people for dinner $150 for some subpar food
