Everything at Village Taverna was excellent. We ordered two gyro platters and a Branzino special of the day. The Branzino was a bit pricey($45) but I was told it was very good. The gyro platters were more than enough for one meal, and even the teenage boy in our party couldn't finish his platter. Service was a bit hectic, but we weren't at all rushed and everything arrived as ordered. Will definitely return.

While service and staff were great the food was disappointing. Ordered salmon medium rare and it was made medium well. French fries, which are a staple on this menu, were soggy and soft. Every TV ing else was good. They can do better!

Great food. Everything was perfectly prepared. The stand out dish was the lamb shank which had amazing flavor and the saganaki with watermelon. Both incredible flavors. Lamb chops with sauteed veg was also tasty. They really need a couple bottles of wine which aren't overpriced. The cheapest bottle is $54. That would make this place perfect. $360 for three people with wine including tip.

I had the Bifteki Yemitsa. My wife had the Moussaka. Both excellent, flavorful, and good-sized portions. Had a nice bottle of Greek wine. We also very much enjoyed the Eggplant spread and Stuffed Grape Leaves appetizers. It really was a pleasure. I highly recommend Village Taverna, a new top choice in the city for me!

Village Taverna is a consistently excellent restaurant. The food, service, and ambience are always great. We have been there many times and it has become one of our favorite NYC restaurants. We come from the Upper East Side to the Village to eat there. Go and enjoy!

The noise level was a problem. Difficult to hear my dinner companions. A complimentary birthday dessert would have gone a long way; a candle fell short. Penny wise, dollar foolish? Food not as good as usual. A bit off. Increased prices should reflect with quality. Perhaps an off day?

I was at the restaurant pre-COVID and the food and service were excellent. Unfortunately that has changed. The service was not good. Clearly they are understaffed and cannot handle all the additional outdoor tables. The outdoor setup is very nice and well decorated. The food was subpar. Nothing was hot and tasted reheated or like it was sitting around. Again it’s apparent the kitchen cannot handle all the additional outdoor tables. Very disappointed

A favorite in the neighborhood. Staff is friendly. Service is very good; most attentive. A lively and fun atmosphere-inside or outside. I’ve eaten here many times and will continue. The food is very good. Only observation on food-it’s not always consistent. With prices on the rise, I’m concerned when ordering my favorite (the Grilled Octopus-now $27. ) could be overcooked or less tender. An expensive app not to be great. So was the ( unusual) case tonight. Also had their special boneless chicken. Wonderful flavors and spices. And a Watermelon, Arugula & Feta Salad. It’s one of their best.
