I enjoy coming here, but note that when you order the mousakka make sure to ask them to really heat it up, otherwise it will likely be cold in the middle.
The food was great, outdoor seAting was very well situated.
Love this place for a delicious brunch or lunch! Everything is good!
Always the best food and they are doing a great job under very difficult conditions
Great spot for outdoor dining. Service was terrific. Spreads, Greek salad, and roast chicken were all delicious.
everyone's food was terrible. tasted weird and not just from seasoning.
actually the bread was very good.
Amazing food and a great ambiance during COVID-19 outdoor dining. Could not recommend more!
Live in the neighborhood and this place is very dependable
We're all learning how to eat dinner in the middle of the street, as it were, so service was a bit uncertain, but food and drinks arrived appropriately; so, OK. The food itself was quite good--my wife especially liked her branzino, which she described as "as fresh as it could be". "Noise level" is at the moment kinda outdated. Spacing of tables was all right; it's hard to be "sanitary" outside in NYC. Overall, a "very good" experience.
The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I have eaten there many times and hope to continue to do so in the future.
As always, a wonderful experience at Village Taverna. Great food, huge portions, attentive service and amazing Greek wines.
I asked for a salad but they said it doesnt come with lettuce so they charged me $3 for lettuce but it was barely any !
My mom ordered the gyro platter for $18 and my salad had No meat and still cost $17! Not worth the money
Good food friendly lively wait staff strongly supporting social distancing and keeping everyone safe. Good job you guys. A neighbourhood favorite
It was a delight to dine here on Saturday evening! The set up is wonderful!!! Tables are
a good length apart. They have really made and effort, and succeeded, in creating an
The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone.
It was a lovely evening for an outdoor dinner. Food was delicious, service was excellent . When I first realized time was limited to an hour and 15 minutes, I was afraid we would be rushed. But we were not; timing was perfect.
Outdoor dining at its best during these very difficult times! Great food and service, coupled with “socially distanced” seating makes for a very relaxing, enjoyable dinner.
As always, Village Taverna has excellent service and they set up their outdoor dining to be a wonderful venue with ceiling fans, lovely greenery. the food was excellent too!
Excellent food and great service.
Outdoor dining. Great experience.
Always great food. Had the daily catch. They have done a wonderful job creating an outdoor dining area that is attractive and safe.
Friendly staff, generous portions, and comfortable outdoor seating. One of the owners thanked us for supporting them and said that Greeks overcome adversity and will survive, as they have for centuries!
Food was very good. Lemon potatoes were outstanding. Lamb chops were very good. Too much food was put on the plate making it difficult to eat the lamb chops.
NEIGHBORHOOD FAVORITE .....
Everything is great with only one exception. It was very hard to have a conversation because it was very loud. Probably turning down the music or better, turning it off, would help. Otherwise great. Have been there 20+ times.
Wonderful service and delicious food. You will not be disappointed.
Not very impressed w Village Taverns. They need a real yaya in that Greek kitchen!
Surprisingly good traditional Greek dishes including the mousaka, lamb shank yiouvetsi, lavraki (sea bass) and various Greek salads. Service is efficient and helpful if asked. Lots of NYU students frequent this spot with good reason.
Excellent food, pleasant service and surroundings.
A touch noisy and crowded, but that's the price of success.
One of my favorite places to eat!!! Consistently good food!!
Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The apps were excellent, and generous. The fried cheeses were great. Fish was fresh, delicious and flaky with light seasoning to let the natural taste shine. I'll definitely return for dinner sometime.
Horrible and rude staff. Soggy fish. Would not recommend.
The food was good. The prasini salad was great to share. My friends and I split the Pikilia (three spreads), but were irritated to hear there was a $3 up charge to request a different spread than the ones listed. Are they not dishing it out to order? Alas, the waitstaff was super lovely, which helped us get over it. We also split the Kalamakia (10 pork and chicken skewers). They were flavorful if a bit small. All in all, the location is great, it was quiet enough to hear one another, and the food was good and fun for sharing. It was a little pricey for what it was, and oh! the skordalia was a little bland—my only complaints.
Delicious food. Wonderful and warm service, and they could not be more diligent and on top of food allergies. Thank you so much
Good was delicious and plentiful, service was warm and attentive (without overdoing it).
Was excited to go to this restaurant for I love Greek food. The waiter threw us for a whirl when he said we cannot order appetizers till everyone in our party was there and that we have to order everything all at once for the kitchen was really busy. We were there at 6:15 and there were 6 empty tables and the staff was hanging by the bar chatting away. Once we told the waiter we were VERY frustrated by this he got his act together and things got better. Dining is about the experience and the experience started off on the wrong foot.
great food but our waiter rushed us..a little rude
We had a wonderful time. Delicious food. Generous portions. Great service. We plan on going back soon.
Good food and very friendly staff
Unfortunately- Tomatoes rock hard and octopus may as well have been rubber. Great dips and wonderful pita.
