Village Taverna Greek Grill
A delightful find in the Village. Nearly impeccable service (the waiter arrives moments after you think you want something), food portions substantial and very tasty, lovely setting.
Really lousy Greek food. My lamb shank was tasteless and the tomato sauce in which it was cooked was gloppy and bland, without even a hint of cinnamon. Even their taramasalata was bad. And $12.00 for a glass of Retsina, ridiculous! No thank you, I'll never go there again. I've had much, much better Greek food in places costing about half their prices.
Great food and service once the waiter realized we had a reservation. When that misunderstanding was clarified he grew attentive instead of snarky. When we wanted another drink after dinner and offered to move to the bar (he’d been worried about the table at first), he insisted we stay in place. Good food we shared several small plates, comfortable space between tables for business conversation, and all without breaking the bank.
While I have eaten at the Village Taverna often over the last many years and always enjoyed it, this was the 1st time there with a Greek friend whom I allowed to do all the ordering. I can’t pronounce or even remember the dishes we ate but all was wonderful.......abundant, tasty, and excellent value.
Fantastic fresh Greek food with outstanding service
Great food and service!!’
We continue to have a great time at Village Taverna. The food, atmosphere, and service all around is the best.
It was such a treat to have authentic Greek food with a modern flare. The spanakopita was incredible and my husband said the Moussaka was outstanding! We will be back...
Great food, great service, excellent lunch with friends
Love the food, atmosphere and service!! It’s consistently excellent!!!
They were so nice and accommodating. The food delicious and service was warm and welcoming. Three of the four people in our party had never been here and they left big fans.
Thank you for a lovely eveining .
If u love garlic go for their spreads. Pita was great
Food and service were great. A little loud, but nothing out of the ordinary in NYC.
A favorate place to meet friends and dine. Great service.
Always welcoming, always fresh fresh fresh and delicious...great neighborhood spot. Need to go more!
Food barely ok. Just not much flavor. Been to this restaurant many times. Probably not again. Just kept hoping it would be good. Nice location for me. I am done with it. People nice though.
Food was great and big portions - next time I go I'm just going to get all the apps :)
We were craving a nice Greek dinner without having to travel to Astoria and Village Taverna hit the mark!
Village Taverna is my absolute favorite place for Greek food in Manhattan.
Friends mossaka was cold. Charged for extra tzaziki sauce.
It is a convenient location off of the Union Square area for a simple Greek Taverna, prices high for the menu offerings - some dishes are more salad greens than the main star of the dish.
Keep up the good work!
Warm welcome. Place busy on Friday night. Bread delicious. Great choices. Food plentiful and flavorful.
Best Greek food in NYC
Village Taverna was amazing. I was a little early for my reservation but they seated me anyways. It was closer to 7pm and the restaurant busy. I ordered the chicken souvlaki and my husband ordered the shrimp souvlaki. The chicken souvlaki was absolutely delicious. I finished the whole plate. I would say the chicken dish was better than the shrimp as there isn't much shrimp on the dish and the salad was a little soggy. But overall it was great. I will definitely return.
Excellent food great staff ... One of our Village Favorites ...Has to be the best Greek Food in Manhattan
Good food and on average experience.
One of our go to stops when in town. Very good Greek food with variety. Always enjoy our meal there.
The food here was amazing. Highly recommend the zucchini croquettes and saganaki which was spectacular. Fries cheese, watermelon and honey !
Really aggressive servers. Not personable at all. It was the least relaxing meal I've ever had at a restaurant
Food and service are always great. The food is authentic!
I have always enjoyed the food at Village Taverna. Recently I visited for a birthday. A bottle of wine, two appetizers, four entrees and dessert. It was over $200. I asked for some extra tzatzaki sauce for my leftovers, and was told it would be $3. Really? After spending over $200.
Perfect Lunch ....always have gone for dinner ..perfect platter to share at Lunch .... Non rushed great time
Generous portions of delicious food at fair prices. Somewhat noisy but it was Saturday nigjt. Reservations recommended
Great food. Somewhat ignored service wise
Not authentic Greek food. Far beyond expectations
The food was delicious, and I love the decor and feel of this restaurant. It has a busy atmosphere, but big windows and pleasant ambiance (and clean, spacious bathrooms). I wished there had been a larger protein serving on my salad for the price ($10 for four shrimp), but hey, it's the village. Food was fresh and well-prepared.
Service was friendly and attentive enough. Menu is great - food was delicious.
We over-ordered and took home a bunch!
Fresh and well seasoned. I would definitely recommend and will return!
Village Taverna Greek Grill has been our go to spot in the Village for years!
Always delicious with great service
