Village Tavern Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Had eaten here before when house hunting in Scottsdale area. Hadn't been back in over 6 months. Don't know if new kitchen, manager or new corporate ownership (this is a chain), but the same dishes that I always had before were this time awful. Hot and cold items. RIP original Village Tavern.
Seated promptly by friendly hostess staff. Server was outstanding, as we had drinks to catch up with friends before ordering dinner. Never felt pressured to order. Everything was great, from the caprese, scallops wrapped in bacon, and the sea bass. Definitely will return and recommend to others.
You can't go wrong with Village Tavern. Very consistent food. Nice diverse menu. Burgers around 10 bucks and nicer entrees 15-20. If you like a little southern Shrimp and Grits, you'll find a nice offering on the menu. I get suckered in for that one about every other visit.
Though two of our entrees were good the prime rib was a big disappointment this time. Having had excellent prime rib on two other occasions we were so looking forward to a third prime rib meal. The knives were not sharp and after trying five knives we finally had one that would cut through the prime rib. It was extremely fatty and the taste was not as good though it was cooked properly.
This was our 2nd time at Village Tavern. The food and service were excellent. Prime rib is the best I've ever had. Fish & chips are really good, too. Wine list is extensive. Martini was just okay. I think we'll be working this restaurant into our regular rotation of favorites.
The service here was excellent, from the host staff and all who came to our table. It seems to be a popular place with the older crowd and the menu items are very standard old fashioned. Food was Good not Great. Large portions, too much to eat. My husband had Prime Rib which he thought was OK. I had the Filet and it was cooked perfectly. I recommend getting one of the sauces on the side. I loved the Succatash which shows how dated the menu seems. It is expensive casual. The outdoor space was beauiful with a great meeting for drinks type of atmosphere. The food though was not great enough to take the 40 minute drive it takes me to get there again.
This is always a good place to take visitors because they have a wide variety on their menu. The food is very good, and the service is polite and efficient. Wednesdays are a particularly good night to dine here because they have half price wine. Almost everything that we've tried on the menu has been good; however, we feel that the slaw doesn't have much flavor, so you may want to select a different side item.
Village Tavern is one of our most favorite spots in Scottsdale......and we have many friends who feel the same way. The food is always great, tremendous service, friendly people.....and decent prices, what more could you want?! Even if you have to wait at the bar, it is entertaining to "people watch". It is also wonderful that they are on Open Table, as we use that often. I cannot sing their praises high enough!
There were 6 of us in our group and were given a large booth. We had two appetizers- the scallops which were fantastic and the bruschetta which was good. We had a variety of dinners- a couple of rib dinners, sea bass (marvelous) steak, meat loaf, which my husband gets often, and a salad- I don't know which one. I think the Village Tavern is among the best restaurants- not too expensive, a good value for the money, good wait staff, and pleasant surroundings. We eat there quite often.
For years we have viewed Village a Tavern as a reliable place with a varied menu and excellent service. This time we had a waiter who made no attempt to make us feel welcome, was unable to answer a question about a special soup, and, to top it off, plopped down the check without asking us if we wanted dessert or coffee! The restaurant has yet to figure out how to cook vegetables past the almost raw stage, but we try to avoid them the service appears to have gone downhill in the past year.
At the suggestion of a friend i had the Shrimp and Grits dish. A big mistake, I will not order it again. I should have stayed with my first choice prime rib, but I did not and found the dish I chose not to my liking. Other folks must like it, but not this person.
The Prime Rib was exceptionally good this last visit. We frequent this VT because it's always consistent; and this time I found the prime rib was really tasty and served exactly as I requested (medium-end cut). Sometimes the end cut can be dry (and overcooked, but that's to be expected with an end-cut), but this time it was really moist and juicy and NOT well-done, but medium as I requested. Please let the chef know, that the cut was perfect and the preparation was exceptional. The server was a bit confused about our wine choices, but was extremely accommodating. My husband requested the Ravenswood Zinfandel and instead got a white zinfandel (a bit sweet) and not his expectation, but he actually liked it, so when the server offered to correct the error, he said he'd like to keep the white zin. All went well because the food was quickly served and, as I said, it was really good.
We ate here on New Year's Eve. We also ate here last year on NYE and the waiter was great, but this year the waitress was rather stressed out and not at all friendly, which made it less enjoyable. However, the food was great as always. We both had steaks which were well prepared. As one of our sides, my husband had a wedge salad and I had a spinach salad, both of which were very good. We eat here a lot and certainly won't let a busy NYE keep us from coming back.
Excellent food and great service always! 3 of us had filet mignon and it was prepared EXACTLY as each of us ordered it. Everything was tasty and served quickly for how busy the restaurant was on New Years Eve. Have dined here before and will continue to frequent this restaurant.
If you like steak, you really should try their flank steak. I had mine cooked to medium and it was perfect and very flavorful. It needed no sauce or horseradish to make it yummy. I did not use the soy sauce that came with it. Soy sauce seemed weird with flank steak.
Great place to dine for business and leisure. Just one issue: online reservation system did not allow for a 12 noon slot. To my chagrin, I had to explain to my guest why I scheduled lunch for 11:45 am while half the tables were occupied in the restaurant from the time of our entry until our time of departure. Notwithstanding, I will return to dine, but I will likely call for the reservation.
We found the Village Tavern as a last-minute place to eat, thanks to the Open Table app and it was totally worth it. The service was great, the food good, and was a great place to bring our kids. Everyone was happy with their meal and we added to our list of places to eat when in town.
We have eaten at Village Tavern several times and always find the food to be excellent! The variety is great, both food and wine. The selections cover anything we might want at our visits. We find the atmosphere to be pleasant and not crowded. We had a very nice and efficient server who always took care of any need. We will definitely return again. Thank you!
Have been to Village Tavern on numerous occasions and never had a bad meal. Ribs are great. Prime Rib outstanding and the seafood entrees including the grouper and scampi are excellent.
Good service if a bit spotty at times but not enough to distract. Recommended.
At our first visit we loved everything about this restuarant. Loved the booths as it gives a cozy atmosphere. We had the rib eye steak which was done to perfection, medium rare, which we had requested. All of the sides were outstanding as well, i.e., sauted spinach, loaded baked potato, and the Caesar salad. Did we stop there? No; we had the cheesecake for desert. We've never had cheesecake that good. We will definitely be back, and tell all of our friends!!!!!
I took my daughter and 4 of my grandchildren to Village Tavern for a special dinner outing before Christmas. (Granddaughters ages 11, 7, and 21 months, and grandson age 8). I wanted to take them to a "fancy", yet affordable restaurant (where they could wear their special Christmas outfits), and Village Tavern fit the bill perfectly! The ambiance was just what I was looking for. The booth where we were seated seemed quite private. The children's menu was one of the best I've ever encountered - with an extensive variety of choices, all at very reasonable prices. All of us had a wonderful time, and we plan on choosing this restaurant for next year's Christmas outing, too!
