Brought my parents to brunch. They’re both in their mid80s need some assistance. Our waitress Leslie as well as all the other staff at the restaurant was so accommodating for my parents. It was so stress-free and relaxing! The food was outstanding and the service was even better! It was definitely a five-star experience and we will be back. Again thank you to Leslie we had an awesome brunch!

The 10 Spice Grilled Salmon with Couscous together with a nice glass of wine served by an attentive wait staff made for a very pleasant evening!

Service was horrible and slow. Happy hour has good pricing. Ran out of happy hour menu items which was odd.

We've eaten here before - but will not be going back - the spinach dip was barely filled in the crock it came in, and the chips were extremely salty. We sent the chips back and they replaced them and they were only slightly better. Two people ordered the short ribs and again the sauce was so salty it was inedible, at this point we were hungry so we pushed the sauce aside and ate what we could. Two people ordered the mahi and it was uncooked. One person ordered the chicken and penne and liked it, and one person ordered the chicken teriyaki and liked it. Still 4 out of the 6 of us were not happy.

Two members of our party chose flatbreads and we were very much disappointed with our meal. Furthermore, our waitress was not friendly at all. I guess she was unhappy to work on Easter evening.

We invited another couple to join us for Easter dinner there and all were quite disappointed with our experience. This has been a favorite, reliable destination for us even when we lived in North Carolina but this time they really missed the mark! We watched other tables being served for about 10 minutes without so much as a greeting to our table, until I finally asked a server to send someone to us. The room was not really full but service was extremely slow. Long after we ordered, the waiter stopped by to say the food was on its way. More time passed and another person arrived to say the meal would arrive soon but with no apology, no explanation, and no identification of whether she was a manager or anything....then our plates arrived at last. The food was just okay, not up to their old standards. We watched other diners get seated and served and leave with take-out boxes before we even got our dinners.Village Tavern has slipped way down on our list to visit or to recommend.

We made reservations for 4 at 8pm I totally forgot it was St Patrick’s day and there was a block party going on. We dropped off a friend at the door while we looked for parking. He walked in at 745 and they seated him almost immediately. The waitress was very patient while we tried to find parking. It was packed and the main parking area was closed. The waitress checked on our friend often and even suggested where to look for parking. We finally got to our table 15 minutes after the 8:00 reservation time. So they waited a half hour for us. When we got there the waitress was absolutely lovely. The service was great and the food was even better!! She heard it was my birthday and she brought 2 sundaes to share and sang happy birthday. Service, ambiance, excellent food all made for a really great time! We will return. Soon!!

The Village Tavern has a warm feel to it when you are dining indoors. Outside, people watching is fun, but beware there is traffic noise.

The food is usually quite good. I liked my chicken and penne and my husband enjoyed his meatballs. We both ordered salads and liked them. (An iceberg wedge with bleu cheese and another; their Tavern salad with balsamic vinaigrette). Our cousin ordered the clam chowder and declared it was more like a stew--excellent. But his cheese burger, ordered medium rare was more to the medium/well done side. The cheese had been burned, too. Now, kitchens do make mistakes and he could have sent it back. However, the chowder was quite satisfying and he didn't return it to the kitchen.

So, what could improve? The server (Marc) questioned him twice about removing the plate, as it was hardly touched. He even asked if he wanted to take it home. (No.) To me, the next logical question should have been, "Is there something wrong with your meal?" Followed by, "May I get you something else?" Instead, he cleared the table. No further conversation.

(The manager had come by while the chowder was being eaten and asked how it was. He was given a double thumbs-up. Our cousin didn't want to call for the manager and point out the flaws of his cheeseburger because he said the manager would be compelled to comp his meal and he didn't want that.)

In this case, the Village Tavern needs to remind its servers to be aware of plates remaining virtually untouched. Ask why. Not doing that may make diners find other places to eat.
