Service was slow and pushy. The wine list was weak despite being pricey. I’d stick to the Tavern Specials and avoid the peak dining hours; this venue has out grown it’s staffing.
The cellar was poorly stocked; that being said the steak was well prepared. Our waiter asked how the meal was in the restroom... not the best service; a little informal.
Very friendly...Super meal..super atmosphere..will be back!!
Good food and good service. It is a bit on the loud side and in my opinion, the price does not reflect the quality of the food. I would not have gone if someone had not given me a gift certificate which was the case my last two visits.
Love Village Tavern for Friday date night. There are two Winston-Salem locations. The crab dip and oyaters are better at the Reynolda location, and that is why I did not rate the food at the Hanes Mall location any higher. A large, loud group was seated near us and my husband and I could barely hear each other. That is certainly not the fault of the restaurant. The Reynolda location is more intimate and we have never experienced loud noise there.
Village Tavern never disappoints. They have a large variety and they do all of the foods well.
This was our first time dining here - we loved it. The atmosphere is very comfortable and not too loud. We both had steaks - i had steak au poive and it was the best i have ever had. My son got the ribeye. We will be back! Thank you.
Had reservations for six people and was a little dismayed to find that our table was not ready when all guests had arrived on time. After being seated, dinner went off without a hitch. Our servers were very polite and helpful, and the dinners were well prepared and served in a timely manner. All of us enjoyed dinner very much. The servers brought a small sundae to our table in celebration of one of our guest’s birthday, and the gesture was very well received. All in all, the dinner and fine service helped us all forget the slightly awkward beginning to the evening.
Our family chose to eat at Village Tavern the last night of our vacation. It was very good food and large portions. Our waiter was great. Even though he forgot my beets salad, I was OK because my blackened salmon sandwich was cooked to perfection. And I ate a homemade roll which was delicious. The dessert that my granddaughters got was enough for our entire table of 6. All 4 adults and 2 children in our party were pleased. We'll definitely go back again.
We go quite frequently and always enjoy our food. Not ever disappointed. Wonderful waitress
The shrimp and grits were delicious. Waitress, Gina was just wonderful. I highly recommend the Village Tavern.
We were there for Easter Brunch. Was good to have a reservation. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Service was great and the food was even better. I would recommend this place everyday!!
Little loud for my liking. I think food is a bit overpriced
It's my favorite restaurant, the best steaks in town!
Village Tavern is my favorite restaurant in Winston-Salem so it was no surprise that I wanted to celebrate my birthday there!
The food is superb and the atmosphere is friendly and cozy, whether by the fireplace or on the pretty outdoor patio. It's wonderful for all seasons.
Brianna was a wonderful help! Dinner was great. We celebrated a special birthday and chose the right place!
Food , service all great. Ate there 5 times in one week while working locally. Be back in the area in May and we are sure we will be there 5 times again!
Date night with my hubby.
Everyone was welcoming and friendly other than a female hostess at the door who swore she didn’t see my reservation. Another host walked up and found it quickly. She seemed to want to do everything but lift her head to wait on me. It’s a bit tight in the restaurant but cozy near the fireplace.
The experience at Village Tavern was amazing! Our waitress was wonderful and knowledgeable and the foot was incredible. We were seated almost right away and enjoyed a delicious dinner and wonderful ambiance.
The food and staff here are always wonderful. Their filet is the best I’ve ever had. The flank steak is absolutely delicious as well. Start things off with calamari and a perfectly mixed cocktail from the bar like we do and you will not regret it! The noise level is usually high in VT but the food makes up for that many times over.
Very nice with a very pleasing atmosphere
Booked a table for 5 for my daughter's birthday--we often eat here and it is always good food and normally great service. This time, however, we were seated in the outdoor tent extension of the outdoor patio--zero atmosphere, wild temperature fluctuations, cheesy fake fireplace and miscommunication among the 2 servers that left very patchy service. I will know to be sure to specify that I do not, under any circumstances want to be seated outside. That should be on the reservation site to be able to select or not select outside seating. It will not deter me from eating here in the future as long as I eat in the actual restaurant.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone service, food and atmosphere was horrible!
The service and food were wonderful as always. It was particularly busy on Sunday for brunch, but we were seated promptly and the food came out quickly.
We made a reservation on Open Table for 6:30 but still had a 20 minute wait when we arrived. I am assuming it was due to the St. Patrick's Day crowd. We started with the crab dip which was very good. It would have been outstanding if it had more crab in it. My wife had the fish tacos which she loved. I had a steak salad in the taco bowl. I substituted the ranch dressing with blue cheese dressing. I didn't realize there would be salsa in the salad. The salsa was great so next time I will not get dressing and will ask for extra salsa. The bowl was crisp and all the salad ingredients were fresh. The steak was cooked perfectly.
The service was fantastic as our waitress (took care of one of my pet peeves) kept both my tea glass and my wife's coffee cup filled.
After the meal I stopped by to see the manager and told him the service was exceptional. He thanked us and said he was going to buy her supper. I hope he followed through!
A great night at Village Tavern!!
We were there for a late lunch and spend about $90.00 including the tip. My wife really enjoyed her food ( prime -rib) and my steak ( 5oz Filet- Mignon) was way overdone. I ordered medium, which I thought would be "pink" in the center, and it was served to me well done. I did not complain. The best part about the meal was the oyster appetizer we really enjoyed.
Village Tavern is the best place to eat for your money in Winston. We celebrate almost every occasion there and have for years. Great service and so many great entrée options.
Booked reservation on line, and for a Friday night, that made a big difference in the waiting time. Seated within minutes of arrival. Wait staff was exceptional, and felt very well cared for. Food was amazing and the mango margarita was very good. Will certainly return soon and often! Thanks!!
We loved our dinner together at Village Tavern! Our server was excellent and everyone’s food was wonderful. A little noisy because the restaurant was full, but our table was probably a little noisy too!
Restaurant was crowded and food was good. Service was a tad slow due to large crowd.
Everything was wonderful as always!! We love The Village Tavern!!
Prime rib salty...to much seasoning! Everything else was good
The food was amazing, and the price was very reasonable. However, the noise was enough to make me not want to return. Maybe it was because it was a Friday, I don't know. Other than the ear splitting noise, I mean really I couldn't even hear myself talking to my girlfriend, it was great. Would recommend with earplugs.
Great food and service as always!
Always enjoyable and predictable. All three locations serve the area well.
Very good food and service.
We were going to be about 5 mins late so we called to let them know and they didn’t even ask for the name, we got there and had to wait 15 mins for a table and they brushed us away when I tried to tell them the reservation name. The pizza was less than satisfactory so we ordered something else (the marinated flank steak, which was amazing) yet, still had to pay for the pizza even though we had only eaten 1piece. It was extremely loud and the music they played made no difference. We were looking for a quiet romantic dinner and did not get what we were looking for. It was still a nice night.
