Despite the fact that we had a reservation, we had to wait for 15 minutes while they sat people who came in after us and did not have reservations. Front desk seemed disorganized.

We drove an hour to meet some friends to have a nice dinner since we do not see them very often. The experience was fabulous and definitely try the carrot cake!!

Had lunch with my mother in law here today. First time for either one of us, and it was FANTASTIC. I live in Charlotte, but frequent Winston Salem and it definitely will be a top pick of mine! Other reviewers said kind of pricey, but I’d say it’s well in line with an upscale causal lunch, definitely worth it, the quality and service justify any pricing issues. Tim was our waiter and he was extremely personable, adaptable and went above and beyond.

You will not be disappointed!

Sigh, Village Tavern....I want to like you. My 6:30 reservation made in January for Feb 17 resulted in us not being seated until after 7pm. Seriously 30+ minutes late with a reservation. At 8 something our entree appeared. The food was fine but the special occasion was lost. Daniel came by and gave us a free glass of beer and wine. Thanks, that totally makes up for it. Then some other guy comes by offering us business cards that will guarantee the next visit won't result in a wait. To which I asked "Won't that screw some other couple with a reservation?" and he said no they have special "pocket tables" set aside for things like this. I'm thinking WTF, quit holding tables in case someone uses this card and just honor the damn reservation! I'm done trying this location. Reserve at your own risk, it's not the first time they couldn't honor a reservation. The management team of this restaurant is incapable of running a restaurant, especially one that wants to be high end. Just go to one of the many other good restaurants in Winston-Salem.

We had reservations at 7, arrived 5 minutes early, and still had to wait 20 minutes to be sat. Our server was very nice and the food was decent but it was a bit too noisy for a nice date. There was a large party seated next to us with small children who were running around and throwing temper tantrums. Nice place but bad ambiance, maybe it’s just not a good date selection.

This was our second time visiting Village Tavern. We live in Raleigh so it’s a bit of an effort with our current schedules to travel there. Our initial visit was based on a recommendation from a local businessman and it proved to be a great suggestion, because our meal there was outstanding! Our second visit simply confirmed our pleasure of finding a good restaurant with fabulous food! The wait staff associate on our first visit was very attentive, yet the service on our last visit truly exceeded our expectations. Jenn was exceptional from the moment she met us at the hostess table to the end of our meal. She made our dining experience most pleasurable and only added to the enjoyment of our meal. An added bonus was meeting Chef Walter...unseen, his talent is notable in the excellent dishes we enjoyed and savored, still, upon meeting him we were further impressed by his passion for his craft and his kind personality, which undoubtedly gives his food that extra touch!
Thank you for a special dining experience! See you soon.

They did a great job preparing for Valentine's Day Dinner. Although the restaurant was very crowded, our server was timely and very attentive. The food was hot and delicious when it arrived at our table.

We have been fans of Village Tavern for over 40 years beginning at Reynolda Village. Monday, Feb 12th, my husband had the crab cake dinner and the Cakes were fine but the rest was tasteless. My daughter’s hamburger was burned and my roasted chicken Penne was a brown oniony mush. We had no alcohol and the price of $65 was outrageous for the food we received. Our waiter was fantastic however - service couldn’t have been better so he was tipped appropriately. We had reservations so there was no wait.

We had a wonderful luncheon experience at Village Tavern this week! My guest enjoyed small plates consisting of fried oysters, crab dip, and the pimiento cheese deviled eggs. I ordered the Grouper Hemingway, which was exceptional. I was also pleased to see a nice selection of Chardonnay from which to choose! Amy G. was our server, and she was phenomenal. A friendly server, who obviously enjoys her job, adds so much to the occasion!

Village Tavern is one of our favorite "date night" restaurants! It is always a special treat to have dinner there. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is very cozy, the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and the service is always great. Using "Open Table" to make our reservations ahead of time saved us a 1 1/2 wait! Awesome!

This is our favorite restaurant in Winston-Salem. This time I kept changing the time and number of guests in our party, since we came after an indoor track meet at JDL Fast Track and invited friends from the meet after we got cleaned up. It's tough to beat the 10-spice salmon entree, which I got this time, and it was delicious. My husband and one of our friends ordered the grouper florentine and were very pleased. The other couple in our group enjoyed their veggie burger and fish tacos. We shared a bottle of wine that we knew would be delicious. It was an enjoyable evening.

We chose this location to meet friends from out of town as it was easy to access. Having eaten here before, I knew the quality of the food would not disappoint and the menu has something for all taste. Our waiter was Timothy and he was attentive without being disruptive. He gave us plenty of time to visit with our friends and not feel rushed.

2 of the 5 meals were served incorrectly. In fact they were taken from the table and the rest of the people had their meals 15-18 min before the other 2 plates were returned. I was very surprised how it was handled. The service seemed very OFF from what I would expect. It was honestly a bit embarrassing for a business meal.

Cozy ambiance, not too loud but a nice hum in the room, excellent wine list especially by the glass, fresh food properly prepared and served by friendly, competent servers. I'm a bit of a foodie and enjoy exploring but time after time I come back to Village Tavern. I know I will have a great meal in a comfortable environment for a reasonable price. My "home" Tavern is in Greensboro but I had occasion to try both the Winston Salem locations recently. I had an issue with my phone and directions...was late for my reservation and went to the wrong location. Both location's staff were helpful, friendly and patient. I'll be happy when my local V.T.'s renovation is complete but will happily visit either of the Winston Salem locations until then.

We did go on New Years Eve and made a reservation. We got there about 30 minutes early and checked in. They seated people who came after us who did not have a reservation. I feel we should have been seated prior to them without waiting for our reserved time. Once seated, we ordered a local wine which they were out of and they were out of prime rib. The bread was also not ready and the waiter apologized several times for the lengthy bread delay. Our steaks were awesome as was the service from our waiter. Even though it was New Years Eve, it did not seem anymore busy than usual. I don't think there is an excuse for being out of such common items such as prime rib and local wine. We also gave our adult children gift cards for this restaurant and hope they are satisfied. We will return and give it another chance due to the food was delicious and the service was awesome. Just the above fews things that rubbed us wrong, especially at this upper price point.

Some of our food was delivered cold. The wait staff made it right. My wife's fish was perfect,my chicken was okay, dry in places. The menu said it included procuito (sp) but there was none. The green beans were perfect. We had a late reservation but one call and Katelyn worked us in earlier. Our waitress was great! Attentive, not hovering but got the job done.
