I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone service, food and atmosphere was horrible!
The service and food were wonderful as always. It was particularly busy on Sunday for brunch, but we were seated promptly and the food came out quickly.
We made a reservation on Open Table for 6:30 but still had a 20 minute wait when we arrived. I am assuming it was due to the St. Patrick's Day crowd. We started with the crab dip which was very good. It would have been outstanding if it had more crab in it. My wife had the fish tacos which she loved. I had a steak salad in the taco bowl. I substituted the ranch dressing with blue cheese dressing. I didn't realize there would be salsa in the salad. The salsa was great so next time I will not get dressing and will ask for extra salsa. The bowl was crisp and all the salad ingredients were fresh. The steak was cooked perfectly.
The service was fantastic as our waitress (took care of one of my pet peeves) kept both my tea glass and my wife's coffee cup filled.
After the meal I stopped by to see the manager and told him the service was exceptional. He thanked us and said he was going to buy her supper. I hope he followed through!
A great night at Village Tavern!!
We were there for a late lunch and spend about $90.00 including the tip. My wife really enjoyed her food ( prime -rib) and my steak ( 5oz Filet- Mignon) was way overdone. I ordered medium, which I thought would be "pink" in the center, and it was served to me well done. I did not complain. The best part about the meal was the oyster appetizer we really enjoyed.
Village Tavern is the best place to eat for your money in Winston. We celebrate almost every occasion there and have for years. Great service and so many great entrée options.
Booked reservation on line, and for a Friday night, that made a big difference in the waiting time. Seated within minutes of arrival. Wait staff was exceptional, and felt very well cared for. Food was amazing and the mango margarita was very good. Will certainly return soon and often! Thanks!!
We loved our dinner together at Village Tavern! Our server was excellent and everyone’s food was wonderful. A little noisy because the restaurant was full, but our table was probably a little noisy too!
Restaurant was crowded and food was good. Service was a tad slow due to large crowd.
Everything was wonderful as always!! We love The Village Tavern!!
Prime rib salty...to much seasoning! Everything else was good
The food was amazing, and the price was very reasonable. However, the noise was enough to make me not want to return. Maybe it was because it was a Friday, I don't know. Other than the ear splitting noise, I mean really I couldn't even hear myself talking to my girlfriend, it was great. Would recommend with earplugs.
Great food and service as always!
Always enjoyable and predictable. All three locations serve the area well.
Very good food and service.
We were going to be about 5 mins late so we called to let them know and they didn’t even ask for the name, we got there and had to wait 15 mins for a table and they brushed us away when I tried to tell them the reservation name. The pizza was less than satisfactory so we ordered something else (the marinated flank steak, which was amazing) yet, still had to pay for the pizza even though we had only eaten 1piece. It was extremely loud and the music they played made no difference. We were looking for a quiet romantic dinner and did not get what we were looking for. It was still a nice night.
we had a large family birthday dinner. our waitress was delightful and very helpful.
Had friends coming into town, so we decided to book The Village Tavern a couple days ago. Reservation were for 7:30 and we were seated right away! Bonus ... They sat us right near the fireplace! Next, the server asked what we would like to drink.. I ordered a gin bombay neat, he brought it straight. It told him I would still drink it, but that I did in fact order it neat. Ugh, after I made mention of that, he completely embarrassed me by saying and I quote “Oh I didn’t think you knew you what you were actually ordering?”, I turned red. He tried to back it up with some back story of how he works at the beach and he would served people neat drinks so that they wouldn’t order more due to the taste, etc... BUT honestly, I don’t know exactly know how he thought that story would fix his rude comment. I didn’t want our guests to know my embarrassment, so I called the tavern once we got home, management was wonderful and apologetic. I hope to talk to upper management, more about this.
Celebrated wife's 75th birthday. Online reservation worked perfectly and we were seated promptly upon our arrival (few minutes early) and at a nice location. Service was good. Staff was knowledgeable about food and drink. Food was excellent (flavor, presentation, temperature, portions) - value less so and we'll be holding VT/HMB for special occasions. We appreciated the complementary birthday ice cream dessert.
Would love to have taken some pictures. The presentation was certainly worth photographing.
Our sever Dee was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend this place!
Great atmosphere. We ended stopping in on a Wednesday, which is 1/2 off bottle and glass of wine night. Had the French onion soup, which was great. For dinner i had the Cancun seafood pasta, which was loaded. With seafood. Good stuff
usually pretty good. Last night the food was cold and took a very long time to get it... Service was just o.k and as usual the very loud.
Our waitress (I believe her name was Melissa) was outstanding!
Really packed for Sunday brunch, had to wait even with a reservation (which defeats the purpose IMO). Food was delicious, service was a bit slower than usual, overall a fun time.
Food was great!! Waitress accommodated all requests that we needed on our menus. Very busy. We were not rushed. Appreciated the ice cream treats after our meal for our birthday guests!!
Great food in a friendly environment.
Absolutely outstanding. Extensive menu, so much to choose from. Our server was Patrick, his knowledge & professional personality of this establishment made our first time dining experience truly pleasurable. We will definitely be returning. Thank you very much.
Despite the fact that we had a reservation, we had to wait for 15 minutes while they sat people who came in after us and did not have reservations. Front desk seemed disorganized.
We drove an hour to meet some friends to have a nice dinner since we do not see them very often. The experience was fabulous and definitely try the carrot cake!!
Had lunch with my mother in law here today. First time for either one of us, and it was FANTASTIC. I live in Charlotte, but frequent Winston Salem and it definitely will be a top pick of mine! Other reviewers said kind of pricey, but I’d say it’s well in line with an upscale causal lunch, definitely worth it, the quality and service justify any pricing issues. Tim was our waiter and he was extremely personable, adaptable and went above and beyond.
You will not be disappointed!
Sigh, Village Tavern....I want to like you. My 6:30 reservation made in January for Feb 17 resulted in us not being seated until after 7pm. Seriously 30+ minutes late with a reservation. At 8 something our entree appeared. The food was fine but the special occasion was lost. Daniel came by and gave us a free glass of beer and wine. Thanks, that totally makes up for it. Then some other guy comes by offering us business cards that will guarantee the next visit won't result in a wait. To which I asked "Won't that screw some other couple with a reservation?" and he said no they have special "pocket tables" set aside for things like this. I'm thinking WTF, quit holding tables in case someone uses this card and just honor the damn reservation! I'm done trying this location. Reserve at your own risk, it's not the first time they couldn't honor a reservation. The management team of this restaurant is incapable of running a restaurant, especially one that wants to be high end. Just go to one of the many other good restaurants in Winston-Salem.
Enjoyed a lovely meal with our family. Our waitress, Britney, was fantastic and very attentive.
Very professional atmosphere. Food was delicious. Definitely would recommend to another person.
We had reservations at 7, arrived 5 minutes early, and still had to wait 20 minutes to be sat. Our server was very nice and the food was decent but it was a bit too noisy for a nice date. There was a large party seated next to us with small children who were running around and throwing temper tantrums. Nice place but bad ambiance, maybe it’s just not a good date selection.
This was our second time visiting Village Tavern. We live in Raleigh so it’s a bit of an effort with our current schedules to travel there. Our initial visit was based on a recommendation from a local businessman and it proved to be a great suggestion, because our meal there was outstanding! Our second visit simply confirmed our pleasure of finding a good restaurant with fabulous food! The wait staff associate on our first visit was very attentive, yet the service on our last visit truly exceeded our expectations. Jenn was exceptional from the moment she met us at the hostess table to the end of our meal. She made our dining experience most pleasurable and only added to the enjoyment of our meal. An added bonus was meeting Chef Walter...unseen, his talent is notable in the excellent dishes we enjoyed and savored, still, upon meeting him we were further impressed by his passion for his craft and his kind personality, which undoubtedly gives his food that extra touch!
Thank you for a special dining experience! See you soon.
Everything I've ever ordered is fantastic. Pimento deviled eggs are great. Prime rib and chicken marsala are outstanding.
Took an hour for food to come to the table. Reservations mean nothing, still had to wait to be seated. Won't be going back.
Excellent food as always and very good service on a very busy evening.
We always have a good experience at Village Tavern. We both are big Hope Du Jour participants for Crisis Control Ministry, so frequent regularly.
They did a great job preparing for Valentine's Day Dinner. Although the restaurant was very crowded, our server was timely and very attentive. The food was hot and delicious when it arrived at our table.
