Village Tavern (Hanes Mall Blvd) Winston-Salem Ratings and Reviews
Disappointing experience. Reserved for a friend’s birthday. Indicated on the reservation. Waited long time for food some of the hot items arrived cold. No one knew about the birthday. Awkward to have to explain to our waiter for dessert.
Have celebrated many birthday lunches at Nobles. Table is decorative, waiter clued in, etc.
Our family frequently eats at the Greensboro location with great results. This was our first visit to this location. We were not surprised with the outstanding food quality and superior service. We will be back to this restaurant in Winston-Salem many times.
Amazing service from the Hostess, Waitress ,Bar and Kitchen, we love this dining experience every time we come in.
My wife and I dined here for dinner. I had a pork chop. It was excellent. My wife got the shrimp and grits. She has had this before and liked it. Tonight it was so salty as to be almost inedible. Probably just a mistake, but we were surprised no compensation was offered for the salty dish.
Great place to celebrate a date night or special occasion.
One of our favorite local eateries. Always good food and drinks, nightly specials and very popular, better to make a reservation.
I asked someone at work to recommend a place that was a little nicer than Applebee's, etc (which we like anyway, we just wanted something a bit nicer) to celebrate our son's birthday. He recommended the village tavern; I'm so glad he did! The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable even though it was very busy. Our server was very attentive. The service was one of the best things about the place. The only reason that I didn't give full marks for this restaurant, is that although most of the food was wonderful, I couldn't eat the onions in my entree because they were raw.
The garlic mashed potatoes were pretty tasteless ,no hint of garlic. The prime rib was made medium by bringing up to temp by putting it on the griddle. My wife's salmon was over cooked leaving it with a lot of charred crust and mostly dry. Her green beans were quite limp and over cooked. I was expecting much better from this place. The garden salad was the best part of the meal. After telling the waiter and manager we were comped a carrot cake and coffees. The cake had a syrup on it that saturated it and made it a soggy mess. We will not be going back there. I don't often choose to spend $60.00 for lunch for the two of us and I won't be spending it there. The Reynolda Village location has much better food.
Amazing as usual! Loved the shrimp and grits.. best I've ever had. Service and this always amazing.
Enjoyed our recent dinner with college kids and dads. Same great food as Reynolda Village but they take reservations. The menu has everything you would want so there is something for everyone.
very disappointed. Shave eaten here before and everything was fine. this night was a mess. serving staff didn’t know menu, drinks too forever, entrees came before we were done with apps, my salad was missing ingredients like chicken. the food was dull.
was a very busy weekend in Winston-Salem but restos know in advance and this one should have been prepared.
We are loyal VT customers, have been going there for over 15 years. Usually great service and food -- it's one of my favorite restaurants in town. I think (hope) this dining experience was an isolated incident but our dinner on Sunday evening was marked with extremely unremarkable service. I will say, the food was good. Our entire party arrived by 6pm. It took another 15-20 minutes for a waiter to even show up to take drink orders -- we had toddlers with us so we asked to go ahead and order their meals. Another 20-25 minutes go by before anyone ever returned to take our orders (actually I had to flag a server down and insist on placing orders). Finally at 7p I couldn't wait any longer and had to inquire about the status of at least the kids meals, which then appeared a few minutes later. The adult food came after another 10 minutes. A beer that was ordered at the beginning of the night wasn't even brought or acknowledged that it hadn't been brought until the end of the meal. It was extremely disappointing and certainly was an occasion where no tip would have been warranted, but we felt bad so we tipped 20% anyway. The original server came at the end of the night to thank us for our patience, but there were no attempts to make amends (like a discount, free desert for kids, something to appease a table that had to wait too long for their food). The table next to us was sat about 20 minutes after us and was waited on immediately and got their food without much delay. We didn't want to make a fuss because we have had such great experiences there throughout the years, but the fact that a manager didn't even come over to express any sort of regret about the poor service we had received was disheartening.
Excellent prime rib, great service, wine menu is updated
When I made the reservation, I requested a booth in a less noisy area of the restaurant as I'm very hard of hearing. On arriving, our reservation was spotted immediately and the host gave us choices about seating in a quieter area. The wait service was perfect -- not so much contact as to annoy but just the right amount of attention when it was needed. The food was wonderful. My filet mignon was the best I've had in a long time. All in all, a perfect meal in a delightful place.
Dine here often, another great experience. Sat at table 52 by the windows of the patio - was a bit loud because of the band playing.
Food was very good and the service was spot on. The decor was uninspiring and the lighting was bright. Nothing to draw you in, nothing interesting. Cavernous and cold feeling. Too bad, because I could see myself making this a regular dining spot as the food and service were great but the atmosphere diminishes the whole experience.
Our favorite rplace in the Triad area. There is no other place like it.
Visiting relatives on the area and wanted someplace to celebrate my husbands birthday. The food was delicious and our waitress was the best. Later was friendly and personable . Hope to vidir5 again on our next trip to Winston-Salem
My daughter and I had a Mommy and me dinner date there. Great food selections, great Gluten Free options, and delicious food. I had the Bayou Shrimp and my daughter had the Gluten Free pizza, which she said was excellent. The server was very friendly and prompt. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We had a great time. As always the food was wonderful. I waitress did a great job.
I have dined at this restaurant many times over many years; a goto restaurant for quality food. Something has really gone wrong... food was not good and the service was really slow. I knew something was wrong when the volume of customers was really light. I am very disappointed.
I Love the Shrimp and grits here! I only come for this dish! Hiwever, now that I know they have $5 margaritas on Fridays I'll come more oftwn and tey something new!
Always great food and service! The service is always top notch professional. We've never had anything but excellant good. Great atmosphere. Our favorite restaurant.
Being Wake Forest graduates who visit Winston-Salem often for sporting events, we love going to the Village Tavern on occasion when we are in town. It is a favorite of our nephew at WFU Medical School, so we take him there whenever we meet him and go to the Reynolda Village location. With my husband's parents, we prefer to quieter Hanes Mall Blvd. location. The food is always excellent and the service generally excellent also. Highly recommended.
Our meal here was very good, the service was excellent. The waiter brought out a mini icecream sundae complete with candle for a birthday we were celebrating. The ONLY thing is - this place is too NOISY.
