Dining room was too loud to have causal conversation with my wife, but, service and food was very good!
It may have been an off night, but service was both rushed (when they were ready to serve and take away empty plates) and slow (when we were well into our main course before getting the wine we ordered...and only after alerting the manager). Food was fine but the noisy atmosphere and sketchy service made the experience less than special.
Village Tavern has long been a staple in Greensboro and I am not sure why. The service was pretty bad. Between waiting on the waiter to initially greet our table, then bring our drinks and finally come back to get our order it took over 45 minutes to get our food. And the main course came out almost as quick as our appetizer. I had to hunt a hostess down to get plates for our appetizers and then had to ask for food that was supposed to be part of my meal according to the menu. I could deal with the service if the food was good but it just wasn’t. My friend commented that her spring rolls were something she could have gotten frozen at Trader Joe’s. My brunch special was barely edible. Based on the age group of the other people eating there I would guess it stays so busy because people have just been going there forever and it’s what they are comfortable with. I would definitely not eat there again, there are much better places in Greensboro.
I like the recent renovations they put in. Have never had a bad meal here.
The food was not good. The service was slow and took forever to get our bills. Overall fair experience.
They were efficient and accommodating as usual. Service was a little slow but the place was packed, so it was understandable. We had shrimp scampi, a rib eye and a chicken quesadilla, all of which was excellent. The quality of the food was extremely satisfying. Our table was ready when we got there - no waiting. Reservations are recommended by us or you would definitely have to wait for a table on a Friday night. This is one of our “often go to” places.
Always great food! Service was awesome as well. Girls night out! Food and cocktails before a concert
Always a pleasure. Great food and great place for meeting friends.
With reservations, we were promptly seated. Each person in our party was pleased with their selection. I substituted sweet potato fries for the mashed potatoes. However, my meal was served with the mashed potatoes. The waiter promptly corrected the error, leaving me with my Chicken Marsala to enjoy while waiting for the substitution. It was worth the little wait as the sweet potato fries were scrumptious! Our waiter was very attentive! Our birthday guest was treated to ice cream with chocolate fudge and we all enjoyed a delightful taste! We shall return!
Great Food and great service! Will definitely be back!
We were seated for 15 mins before anyone showed up at our table fortunately, it was the manager. He got everyone going. The food was fabulous and the new remodeling is comfortable and homey.
Village Tavern has been one of our favorite restaurants for over ten years. We have never been disappointed.
Nice remodel and food was great!
One of our favorite places in Greensboro! Food always good and service as well!
Service, food, and atmosphere all very good.
We were in Greensboro for the ACC Women’s b-ball tournament. The Village Tavern was recommmended to us by friends and it did not disappoint! The soup (clam chowder) was excellent; the hamburger was seasoned and grilled to perfection; the Reuben was delicious! We were a party of five and each of us had an excellent meal and would highly recommend the Village Tavern when in Greensboro.
Tried and true. They just renovated, but has the same middle of the road vibe. The food hasn't changed, makes regulars happy. Huge portions. People just love it, no surprises and a good price. So...it's o.k.
First time back to this long time favorite of mine since their renovation. The ambiance and food were preserved. The cocktail special Mojito was not as well executed as I’d like, but that was the only part of the evening that did not meet expectations.
We visited the Tavern which was the first time since their renovation. It looks lovely. Had a great meal, as always. Our server was excellent. It’s a very good place to eat.
My daughter had a bad experience with a ceasar salad. Lettuce looked brown, added steak was left off and lettuce did not appear to be the usual used in a ceasar salad. The waiter did offer something else and took it off bill but my daughter did not eat as the rest of the party was finished.
Food was excellent as expected. Our server performed upon request but was very unfriendly and sometimes even nonverbal when asked a question. Acknowledging with a response would of been nice. She would preform the task that was asked but very cold. It was topic of conversation of how unfriendly she seemed at the table. When the bill was spilt up wrong she was very confrontational of “that’s how you told me” which was unnecessary due to I just asked nicely to change like it was no problem on my end. This was a very unusual experience due to the high level of professionalism the staff preforms on other visits there and in the Winston Salem locations.
Awesome server: Michael!!! Professional & attentive; great personality & rapport!! Yummy delicious food! Love all the new renovations & framed artwork!!!
We love Village Tavern and even more now that we can use Open Table to make a reservation. More likely to eat here now!
We really like Village Tavern, this past time was a little disappointing. We had brunch on Sunday, they were very busy. Our food was delivered cold, the manger was very good and replaced our food and did not charge us for the brunch. We will continue to go there, but will not return for brunch again. It is just to busy and loud.
Love their Sunday brunch. Repeat customer for years.
Village Tavern is consistently good. it recently re opened after being closed for remodeling. new updates are nice. My only issue is with the menu where they removed the pork chop. that was always my favorite and seemed to be pretty popular. I don't understand why they removed it. I had the Cajun pasta and it had lots of scallop, shrimp, etc. I think the prices went up since they re-opened which might make me reconsider it as being a normal "weeknight meal" kind of place. I'll probably hold out for more special occasion type nights. Still, food and service was good. they rarely disappoint.
Quite frankly the visit was somewhat disappointing. The food was mediocre, some of it was served burned. Normal bread before meal was not delivered until after the meal was served. I eaten many meals at Village Tavern. This was probably the most disappointing experience we have had there.
Service was great, all the food was outstanding, outside seating was the best and the ease of the online reservation process made it so simple to avoid a wait. I would recommend the restaurant as well as using Open Table to reserve and will definitely go back there again soon.
Great food and service.
Courtney was our waitress. She was friendly and great at recommending things. Food was out of this world! We’ll be back, we lovevthe food and staff!
Overall, a very good dinning experience. My fiancée had the prime rib that came somewhat cold. We asked the waiter to return the same meat after warming and he did.
A local favorite for us and many others. Renovations make the restaurant look a lot better. Service was good and the food as always very good. We like to come on 1/2 price wine night.
Excellent service from Jordan. Everyone friendly. Dinner was delicious. Reasonably priced. Warm Ambience. Great Neighborhood Place.
Another wonderful dining experience with friends -- good food, good service, good value.
Excellent service - excellent food. My husband tried one of their new dishes - the meatball skillet - and thought it was extremely good. As usual, the place was packed. We have been going there for years and were very surprised at how quickly our food came from the kitchen. We will go back again soon.
Excellent! Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal!
Village Tavern is consistently excellent. Great burgers cooked just like you want, instead of over cooked like most restaurants. Excellent entrees and huge entree salads. Their Prime Rib is always good.
This visit, the service was slower than usual but they were packed! Full house. Probably because of the delicious Brunch menu.
If you are looking for a consistently great meal and good service, the Village Tavern will please you.
I met my elderly Dad and sister at the VT in Greensboro for Sunday Brunch. This location is much smaller than the restaurant in Winston Salem. While the food was good, the overall dining experience wasn’t up to the price and usual service at VT. The dining room had too many tables causing difficulty squeezing into chairs. The noise level was horrible making it difficult to hear each other speak at the table. Perhaps this could be corrected by installing some sound deadening materials on the ceiling and walls to limit reverberation? And finally our server was not very attentive leaving us with frequent empty glasses and waiting for delivery of missing items that were ordered. We noticed she was also “stacking orders” by taking our order and immediately going to the next table to do the same before entering the order into the computer. I thought most restaurants taught their servers to place table orders individually to avoid kitchen back-ups and cold food? Overall, not a great experience so next time I’ll choose another Greensboro restaurant for brunch.
The waitress was very friendly and helpful with her recommendations. She made nice conversation and checked on us a reasonable amount.
