Village Tavern Greensboro Ratings and Reviews
The food is always good here. Not particularly for foodies although they would enjoy the food -not jazzy-experimental-eclectic - just fresh food, well prepared and cheerfully served in a comfortable neighborhood restaurant. The wine list is more than adequate and is well priced. Diners are a mix of friends, casual business and family. I don't see young children here often but those brought are well behaved.
Consistently good, VT can’t be beat. Menu items are varied and interesting; service is great; the fried oyster appetizer was the best I’ve had.
One of the best places in the city to eat. Great atmosphere with a feeling of intimacy or group bonding depending on your situation GREAT RESTURANT!!!!!
This was our first time dining at Village Tavern. We were seated promptly and our server, Chadwick, was helpful in answering our questions, offering his input into his favorites when asked. The warm crab dip was delicious! I had a nice single malt scotch and husband had a beer. The beer was served very cold. I ordered the filet mignon, mac and cheese, and green beans. My steak was wonderful, so tender. All was delicious! Husband had the ribeye. It was good, but after tasting my filet, he said it would be his choice next visit. We shared a butter cake for dessert.... it was wonderful! Warm buttery pound cake with ice cream on top, colorful, delicious fresh fruit and a raspberry sauce! Chadwick was a wonderful server! It was our first time, but will not be our last!
We were a party of 4 celebrating Vereran's Day. The restaurant was extremely busy, but we were seated within 5 of our reservation, which was remarkable. Our party ordered flank steak,Bayou shrimp, fish street tacos, and margarita flatbread. All our dishes were served hot, and cooked exactly to order. We also had dessert; creme brûlée and 3 of the little ice cream sundaes. Everything including the service was impeccable. Can't wait for our next visit!
I rated the food good instead of great b/c the appetizers were not up par. The group had both ( Calamari and crab dip) in the past and it did Not meet the standard. The service was outstanding , Her name began with an H. She was attentive, knowledgable and friendly. The main course dishes were great, especially the braised meatballs and the shrimp and grits. Overall a good/great outing.
My husband and I love Village Tavern. The wide selection of food options make for a pleasant experience whether you are looking for soup, salad, appetizers or a full meal. It is great for meeting friends as the location Is central to most of Greensboro. We’ve received several gift cards for Village Tavern and that is always a nice treat!
Food was good but teriyaki sauce on trout overpowered the fish and was too salty. Please consider offering a different glaze in the future. Meatloaf was very good.
One of our favorite places! Always the best food and always the best service!
We were seated around 6:30 PM. She Crab soup was the soup of the day. We ordered the She Crab soup as soon as we were seated and were told they were already out of She Crab Soup (at 6:30?). Shortly thereafter our waitress brought us a bowl of soup and said she was able to find one last bowl of She Crab soup. The soup was much thicker than what we were accustomed to for She Crab soup, but we didn't say anything. When I got the bill, I was charged for Clam Chowder, which is what I believe I was served. Overall, both the food and service were good. Disappointed, though, with being served Clam Chowder and being told it was She Crab soup.
Always a hit..dined there several times..one of my go-to places.
This was my first time dining at Village Tavern and I will definitely be going back! The cheeseburger was one of the best I have ever eaten and the wedge salad was fresh and delicious! The service was fantastic!
Very pleasant. Waiter was excellent and was very attentive to our every need. Our food was prepared perfect. They serve a lot of quantity of food with their dishes. Even their appetizers. I ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer thinking I would get a salad and another side with it, but it was really too much! The sweet potato fries are to die for!!! They are delicious. Great place!
We wanted one more al fresco dining experience before cold weather set in and The Village Tavern did not disappoint. We did an Open Table reservation on the way to the restaurant and were able to get right in when we arrived. They were able to accommodate our special request to sit outside. Their outside area is a wooden fenced in area with a stone fireplace along one wall , a tree that offers shade and tables that have sunny yellow umbrellas on them. During the day they help to keep the sun off of you. You would never know you were sitting near a shopping area or a busy street when you are outside. They do all they can to make it an enjoyable place to dine al fresco. Our waiter was great, as was the meal - chicken Colorado and blackened chicken Alfredo followed by the best key lime pie we’ve ever had. This is our go to place when we want outdoor dining and good food all rolled into one!
Dinner was amazing. It was a wonderful birthday with the family. Steaks were perfect, the only bad item was my husband’s Caesar salad wasn’t very good- the dressing had a strong fishy taste and he wasn’t able to eat it. Our waiter promptly replaced it with another side which was more to his liking.
Our waiter Sean was awesome, always right there when needed. No drinks were ever empty and he was very friendly and professional.
We drive down from Martinsville occasionally for an evening meal and we always love the food and atmosphere! Our servers are always very helpful and willing to please and the food is so delicious! Key lime pie is one of our favorite desserts here!
Third visit and every time the steak is flavorless and fatty. The sides are cold when they arrive. I hate leaving these comments but the third attempt to enjoy this always busy restaurant was the same as the others. Many other better restaurants in gso considering food quality and presentation.
Have a business trip that takes me to Greensboro twice a year and Village Tavern is always a dinner spot. Food is good, atmosphere is good. Place to relax and have a longer meal
We really enjoyed our meal. The food was very good, and the ambiance was just right for an anniversary. I wish they had a special dessert for anniversaries and birthdays, like some of the more expensive restaurants, but it was still a nice evening.
When you can get a nice sized piece of salmon, green beans and slaw for lunch for $13.50 all prepared properly with very good service you can't complain much about anything else. I have been eating there for many years and it's had it's ups and downs but the food is always good. I think the interior is dark & tired and there are funky odors floating around but the food and the service are predictable and as good as many restaurants charging twice as much.
Very nice evening. All food was cooked to order and served hot. Waiter was quite accommodating. When seated in a booth you feel like you can have a private conversation. Menu doesn’t change often enough although they do occasionally add a new dish or two. Would like to see more different items since we do eat there often. They do have a special soup and entree each night which usually are quite good.
Server was the reason I will probably not return. Food was not prepared as requested, minimal follow up and when she did, she did not remember requests. I understand that there has been high turnover of help in recent months. Level of professionalism is not what it used to be.
Was disappointed in the Ahi Tuna appetizer. I've had great Ahi elsewhere and the Village Tavern's did not compare. Certainly not sushi-grade tuna. I'll go back to the fried oyster appetizer next trip.
We made reservations for 10:00, which is when the restaurant opens on Sundays for brunch. They don't seem to be quite ready to handle customers upon opening. We were seated a few minutes after 10:00, but then it took another 5 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge our presence. This isn't the first time we've experienced this. We went back because their eggs Benedict are very good. Service could be better.
