Great food! Service was okay.. But overall great! Would highly recommend
Always enjoy dining at the Village. Everyone on staff is always courteous and accommodating.
Food was good. Server was sub-par; slow, inattentive, did not listen closely. Salad starters and entrees served too close in time to each other. Booth was great and they honored my request to have a booth in a nice location. Overall, excellent food and atmosphere. Sub par service.
Great food and great service! A favorite place.
Service started bad, got worse, he forgot what we ordered...served burnt chips with appetizer.
I blame management more than the employee because it was if he hadn't been trained well
What gets me is a nother employee came over and asked how evrything was...we told him our experience.
They didn't offer a dessert,
I wouldn't have taken it, or anything.
We had an app, several glasses of wine and split an entree...still spent $110.00
Lots of places that I can go, spend less, and have a better experience.
Birthday dinner for my husband at a new spot and it was amazing! Food was great!!
I came here with my best friend to celebrate our graduations. While we are both teenagers, we both work in the restaurant industry and know how to be treated within a restaurant— and we were not treated that way. From the beginning, we were given odd stares from the staff regardless of the fact that we had a reservation, we were told there was no patio seating when I watched 4 separate tables be sat outside during our hour and a half lunch (extremely shortly after we were sat when no one had left the patio), and to top off the beginning of our experience, the hostess accidentally hit my friend in the face with the menu and didn’t even say sorry! We asked about virgin drinks and were told they “weren’t that good” by our sever, were rushed to order, and then had our meals come out maybe 1 minute after our appetizer... horrible pacing. The appetizer plate stayed there the whole meal too, even when we were done. We had to ask for app plates. My friend asked for ketchup and it took a solid 15 minutes for it. While I am a teenager, I am willing to tip 25% for good service because I understand the struggle of working in a restaurant... don’t assume because I’m young I don’t know how to act and will undertip you... you took your tip away when you assumed and gave me bad service.
Excellent as always-wonderful server (Brittany)- good delicious
The experience wasn't quite what I expected. The outdoor patio is really just a courtyard with some inexpensive outdoor furniture. The seating is uncomfortable with no padding. The menu has a decent variety, wine/cocktail selection is good and the food was as expected.
Everything was great. We will definitely be back!
Our food was cold and our poached eggs were hard. And it took a long time to get the cold food.
We eat here at least once a month and have for years. Our food -chicken tacos, tavern flatbread, mixed green salad, sundae for dessert - was excellent. No surprise. Our service was SLOW! Quite a different experience. We waited for our wine. Didn’t get the salad until we got our entrees. Waited to order desert. Waited to get the bill. Waited to get the change. The waitress never came by to check or say sorry the kitchen was extremely busy or whatever the problem was. The restaurant was full, but while we waited we watched other tables who were not having this experience. Extremely disappointed.
We had a wonderful dinner and Alex our Server provided excellent customer service and recommendations were spot on. The location for me is ideal, as I live and work at your neighbor, The Encore.
Great patio and food. Wide variety but all is goods great wine list
We opted for Village Tavern as our monthly date night selection. It was our first time at this restaurant. Our reservation was for 7:30 PM on a Saturday evening. We arrived about five minutes early but there was a line a slight line ahead of us. As soon as we got to the podium, we were greeted by a friendly hostess that promptly seated us at our table. Inside was smaller than I imagined but we loved the ambiance. Our waiter was fabulous. He was very personable and polite. We started out with drinks from the bar and ordered the fried oysters from the appetizer menu. Best fried oysters I've had in a long time. The chili sauce that accompanied them made the dish flavorful. I ordered shrimp and grits as my entree and it was very tasty. My husband ordered the filet mignon well done but it was cooked medium well. That was the only downside to our meal. I tried some of his garlic mashed potatoes and they were pretty good. For dessert, we opted for the warm butter cake and cheesecake. Both were absolutely delicious and very large portions. Took them home as we could not eat them all. Very good first impression and willing to go again.
The food was amazing. The waitress was very nice but not very knowledgeable. For the price we paid I was expecting a little more upscale not a high-end family restaurant with children running all of the place. I recommend you eat there because the food was really delicious!
This restaurant is one of our favorites in Charlotte. Both had the new braised short-ribs. EXCELLENT. Delicious. Nice hint of wine. Service is always excellent. Highly recommend.
Service was very slow. Did not get drinks until 40 minutes after we sat there.
I used to love coming to Village Tavern - the food used to be great and worth the price, but the past couple times I've been, the food and service have gone downhill. This time, I ordered the Hemingway, and the noodles had no flavor. I didn't say anything to the server, and really couldn't, because no one came to check on us between when we received our food and when dinner was done.
Met with one of my oldest friends (that I hadn't seen in forever) at the Village Tavern- Funny that we both started out our young adult lives in the Southpark area in the mid 90's, and have both moved away from that area and hadn't been to the Tavern in YEARS- It was fantastic! Really cool, hip, varied age crowd, great food choices, excellent service (Harrison- a college student, was wonderful). I loved our experience there and I'll be back soon!
Usually an excellent choice. However three servers assigned to about 10 tables each. Needless to say it was a very long, relaxing dinner
I went with a friend for 1/2 price wine on Wednesday. I had one glass; my friend had two. And, my friend had a higher priced entree. The waitress asked, " separate or together." I said, "separate." I forgot to say please. The waitress comes back with one check and hands it to me and said, "Split it down the middle? Is that ok?". Not going back; maybe in a year or two. Thank God my friend didn't order the filet and that's what I get for trying a save a buck on wine.
Came here for an early dinner and we were not disappointed. Outstanding food and good wine/beer selections. Don't pass up the calamari appetizer -- the best!
Most of the food came out cold
Lots of screaming kids on Mother's Day evening..Other that that a good restaurant.
Had Mother's Day dinner there and it was excellent! The chicken spring rolls were freshly made and arrived piping hot. From start to finish, it was a great meal.
Food was great. Service was great. Not very clean. Trash can overflowing right at the entrance. Mats needed vacuuming. Some were very crooked and even not flat causing a potential tripping hazard.
Mother’s Day Dinner
It was my pre mother day lunch with my daughter. This place is nice. Very clean. Juliana was great. Good great best Mai Tai I've ever had.
It was our first time at Village Tavern and we invited clients of ours to join us. Everyone was very nice and food and drinks were fantastic. Portions were very large and everything was cooked perfectly. Our server could’ve been a bit more attentive, but overall it was a good experience.
Best food during my visit to Charlotte. Food made from scratch so great!
The service and food was good. There were not any breakfast/brunch options on the kids menu, so we just ended up ordering a regular waffle from the adult menu.
Outdoor eating is best but unfortunately the patio was booked with a private party the night we came.
Excellent as always-always enjoy dining at The Village Tavern- food consistently good!
Waiter was a little poor. No please or thank you and had a negative energy. Seemed annoyed we were there. Manager/owner came to as us how our evening went and he was pleasant. Food was good. Did bring me a Sunday for my birthday.
I like this restaurant and the food is consistently good. However the last time I dined the service was HORRIBLE. Someone was fairly quick to take our order but slow to get out food and drinks. We finally found someone (not our server) to check on our drinks and still waited. Our drinks took forever to arrive and so did our food. We could not even find anyone to ask for a refill. We were so hungry that anything would have tasted good. We finally asked for a manger and told him we eat there alot and we had never had as bad service. He was quick to apologize, said they were understaffed - this was a Saturday at lunch - and he did compensate us for our troubles. It just all left an unfortunate "taste in our mouth".
Friend recommended this place-never seen or been here before-but worth it
It was a great experience!
Food was very good, as always; however, our server seemed as though the act of waiting us was a huge bother. Probably the worst service we’ve had there. It was poor enough though to make us not want to return. Perhaps an attitude adjustment would help!
