Village Tavern - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
I've been going here for years. This time, the service was a bit slow at first, so we were a little nervous. The only complaint...the server didn't know how to discuss the beer menu. There is a table-tent menu that had Carolina craft beer selections and she could see I was struggling to find a beer I wanted. She didn't offer any suggestions about ANY beers, but maybe that is because I was looking at the table-tent menu. Anyway, thought it was odd that she didn't mention the featured beers or the other beers at the bar. Luckily I thought to look toward the bar and saw the taps. MINOR complaint though.
Food is always good. And SO much to choose from. We will be back!
First time at Village Tavern and we will definitely go back. Suggest making reservations as it does get quite crowded. I had the fillet mignon and it was perfection. My husband enjoyed his prime rib but admitted the fillet was a bit tastier. Service was great as well. Highly recommend.
VT is one of our favorite restaurants. We usually have really good service , but yesterday was an exception. Our waiter only came by our table once after we had received our food. We had to scope him out and ask for refills of anything. I also had to get a take out box from the very nice hostess because we couldn’t find our waiter.
Disappointed that they changed their Tavern Rice! Madera sauce for the meatloaf is okay, not great. Would order w/o it next time. Green beans were way overcooked imo but still edible.
My son did not like the Prime Rib (too fatty) & they were gracious enough to switch it for the Chicken Marsala. Great value for restaurant week though bc portions are generous. Beet salad is delicious!! Will remember to order it next time.
I had made reservations through Open Table for 7:30, 1/25, and requested a booth if available, and being that it was during restaurant week, I did not expect to get a booth. Anyway, we arrived at 7:20 and were seated immediately and a booth was available much to my joy! Our waitress was exceptional, and our meals was as well. I live at The Encore, which is diagonal from The Village Tavern, and a number of residents have raved about the grilled meat loaf, to which I had ordered and it was truly an amazing dish. We thoroughly enjoyed our total experience with Open Table and The Village Tavern.
I had visited the Village Tavern back in May 2017 on a business trip and absolutely loved the food, the vibe, the service. This time around, the food was a little lacking. My salad was wilted and a bit soggy with the dressing, the fries were mostly dry, and my colleagues tacos were so wet that they fell apart. Service is still great and the selection, very good. I'd probably give it one more try.
We enjoyed the meal. We had a reservation for 6:45 and we arrived on time. The hostess was rude. She didn’t make eye contact for at least 3-4 minutes and when she did she just looked at me and didn’t ask why I was there. I told her we had a reservation and she said they are cleaning a table, I’ll let you know. 10 minutes later we asked again and there was a guy standing there beside her who said it was ready and seated us. Andrew was a fantastic server and food was good. Marsala chicken looked a little pink but we ate it anyway. Everything else was delicious. Need to speak to your hostess about her manners. This was Saturday night the 20th. Thanks.
We had to wait 30 min after our reservation time to be seated. Service was extremely rushed and not a relaxing or enjoyable experience. The waitress was practically running away every time she came over. Food was very good though!! French onion soup was awesome.
We have frequented this restaurant on several occasions. This visit was at the start of Charlotte's Restaurant week with dinners 30-35 dollars for 3 courses.
Service was slow and the prime ribs were not cooked as ordered so had to be replaced. Perhaps the flu had an impact on the staff.
Meeting up four cousins’ get together. Table was ready and waiting selection was tremendous and specials were varied. As a person with shellfish and seafood allergies, nothing irks me more than all seafood specials. That was not the case here! The spicy chicken was great! Our wait staff did not interrupt, but she checked on us at appropriate intervals. Still one of my favorite places!
