Village Tavern - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
This is my third visit to Village Tavern and I really enjoyed it both times. This time, however, I had a vodka cocktail which pretty much tasted like juice and simple syrup. I should have sent it back. I also order the new meatball dish with grits. Neither the meatballs nor the grits were very flavorful. I was overall disappointed with the food and drink this time.
Village Tavern is one of our go-to places. Never disappoints. Most recently we had a tavern salad which the waitress split for us. Entrees were chicken tacos and tavern burger. Sundae for dessert. Everything was excellent. Service was perfect. Attentive without hovering.
Burger and fries was delicious. Service was very poor - waiter was attentive (ie, refilled beverages) but abrupt and made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. Double Cheesecake was freezer burned and tasted spoiled, no good! We will not return to the CLT location.
The Village Tavern is probably one of our favorite "go-to" spots in Charlotte. The food is consistently good and and the noise level is good. It is nice to have the option to eat outside when the weather is nice. We love it for Sunday Brunch. Great Bloody Mary's and we like the variety of foods available for brunch. It is a always a good choice.
The food was pretty tasty. Only been here one time, so I can’t tell you the menu is amazing. But we had the hot crab dip, it’s was great. I had the meatloaf, and it was fantastic. My husband had the Cajun seafood pasta—and it was top notch.
Overall, the atmosphere was pretty chill. Modern decor, upscale, nice place. Kevin was our waiter, and he was one of the best we’ve had in Charlotte since moving here 11 months ago. Management also roamed and checked in on us in a respectful, non creapy/lurky way.
We will be back.
Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with a late lunch. Arrived about 30 minutes early, but were seated immediately. Short time before our server, Heidi, arrived to take our beverage order. She knew we were celebrating a special day - our 40th wedding anniversary. She was attentive and available for anything we needed. (This is normal for any time we dine at Village Tavern.)
Food was wonderful - as usual. My husband had the bean soup, which he said was delicious. That says a lot, since he ALWAYS gets their French Onion soup, which he states is one of the best in Charlotte. We continued with prime rib (my husband)and spaghetti squash and zucchini, to which I added grilled shrimp. Everything was prepared as requested and delicious.
When making our reservation through Open Table I indicated we were celebrating our anniversary; however, neither the hostess or server acknowledged this fact. My family joined us to help celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. It would have been nice for Village Tavern to acknowledge, congratulate, and given us a dessert to enjoy as a treat for our special occasion. Very disappointing that they did NOT!!!!!!!!
I ordered the new feature of meatballs on the menu and they were just above "tepid" in warmth but edible so I wouldn't allow our outstanding server to take them back because I was starved and my experience with all restaurants is that it may come back too overheated. She let the kitchen know but we were a little surprised there was no "comp" for the trouble...although we didn't ask.
I ordered the Cobb salad and although it's usually very good, it was way below the standards. I questioned the server and she said there was a new employee making it. She seemed very concerned but was so nice I didn't want to make waves about it. This restaurant is clearly not one to offer any comp for problems with food unless someone insists. My husband and I hate to ask since we eat out a lot and most restaurants offer when it's not good. Since this has happened a few times, we feel the servers are encouraged not to offer or ask management. Unfortunately because the meat is hormone free and there are few other choices for the same later at night when we eat, we continue to go.
