Village Tavern - Charlotte
It was good service
Always fun and excellent!
We had not been to Village Tavern in quite a while, and were very disappointed to see the quality of food has gone down. Even the great fries are no longer great. Bummer. This place used to be a classic you could count on.
VT never disappoints. Very courteous staff and delicious food! I wish it were quieter, though.
I miss the flank steak on the menu. Our server was awesome.
I had been to VT several other occasions and had a very good experience overall. Four of us went on a Thursday night and sat for over 3 hours watching the tables next to us turn over several times. Our waiter was absent most of the night and we had to request water and bread several times during the evening. We ultimately had to seek out the Manager, who apologized for not being present on the dining floor most of the night. For some reason she was caught up in the kitchen most of the evening. They did have a very large party that night, but our waiter was not assigned to that table. We were served the wrong meals at first and one person received the wrong change for her tab. Overall, not a good experience. The Manager did present each of us with a $20 voucher and apologized for the service.
Great menu selection, comfortable booths, exceptional food! Server Kevin's attention and charm more than made up for some slight delays in the service process on this particular visit. Looking forward to our next time here!
We had a wonderful time. Friends that have worked together for years. Overall food was delicious! The Chilean sea bass was flavorful, crab cakes moist and tender. I would definitely recommend this place! Also try the deviled eggs appetizer and crab dip, both were very tasty as well.
Very enjoyable meal. Will be back!
We had dinner reservations and yet when we arrived there was discussion about what table to seat us at. Were they sizing is up??? We were escorted to a table away from the bar (less noise) and were seated. We were given LUNCH menus at 6 pm. Service was slow.
We ordered burgers cooked medium. They came well done. I don't send food back so we ate them. I disliked that their cloth napkins were heavily starched.
There was also a small area behind our table where they kept extra silverware,to go boxes etc. It was annoying. The only good thing other than the ambiance was half price wine by the glass on Wednesday.
Have no plans to return if we are ever back in the area.
The food was good and the service was great. But nothing stood out to make it better than anywhere else. It was typical American food with expected high prices.
Great Atmosphere and love the Calamari appetizer. Service was friendly and timely. My wife had the Salmon Sandwich and it was very good, she thought the Chipotle Aioli was a nice addition. While the meal was good overall, would not recommend the skillet meatballs with grits. Will try something different next time. Have always enjoyed the Village Tavern and appreciate the staff wants you to enjoy your visit.
Great place to catch up and relax with friends.
Wonderful meal and service! John does a wonderful job!
We were lucky enough to get our favorite waiter (English Andrew) and the Wedge Salad was wonderful, as always. I enjoyed the braised short ribs, but whoever made the gravy really needs to cut back on the salt! I warmed the leftovers with unsalted beef stock and they were fine.
The food and service was outstanding. We will definitely eat there again and have already recommended it to our friends.
Food came out wrong for my granddaughters calamari and it was stretchy and just not quality food. I ordered a salad with a crab cake on it and they forgot the crab cake. My husbands food came out room temperature. We’ve typically had better food but that night was a disappointment. Our server was new but she was great!
Husband and I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner out and Village Tavern never disappoints!!
This is a nice place. Good food and great service.
I meet friends here at least once a month. The tavern nachos are the best I’ve ever had. This visit I introduced my friend to the warm butter cake and she’s hooked as I am. Hannah took great care of us!
This place never disappoints. Lunch meeting to interview a candidate. Service was top notch. Food was good as always.
Food was good- very good service
Queens Feast. Food from salad to dessert and service throughout were excellent.
Typically I love this place, it’s definitely one of my favorites but this visit was not one i would recommend. The food wasn’t as good and the service was not either. Hopefully things change and it gets to how it typically is
Good food, great service and convenient location! The bar seemed to get backed up with the Friday night crowd and we had to wait about 20 minutes for a cocktail, but our waiter was attentive. The wine we ordered with our dinner seemed to come much faster.
Steak was certainly not as flavorful as last week and potatoes were more lukewarmish. Service was good just as always but food didn't seem to have the flavor.
Wonderful food, great service! Loved the experience!
Always love to eat at the Village Tavern. The Noise level is high and the activity level is high. Sometimes difficult to carry on a conversation with your companion. The people were attentive and very pleasant.
We were seated one table away from an eight top table composed of one man and the rest ladies. The man was so loud, and when the ladies got going we could hardly hear ourselves talk. A manager came around and asked how we were doing. I asked him to ask the people at the 8 top table to please tone it down a little. The manager refused and said that was bad for business. Eventually they left and what an unbelievable difference. The restaurant was still full, but now at least you could talk with the people at the table without have to talk over the 8 top.
One of our favorites. A little noisy this time. Service was slow - most unusual. Manager checked on us a couple of times. He was pleasant and helpful. Food was great as usual. Half price bottles of wine a treat!
My wife took me here for my birthday.
After arriving we were seated promptly and our dinner service began. Our waitress was attentive and professional. Our appetizer of firecracker shrimp and entrees of fish and chips were delicious.
I haven't been to the Village Tavern in ages because of a change in work location, and I now realize what I've been missing! Great service (Thanks, Mary Catherine!) and the food was outstanding for both of us at our table. Will definitely be heading back soon.
My favorite restaurant for years! Had 3 out of town guest with me this time. They loved it. Be sure to get the warmed butter cake! Oh my goodness!
The atmosphere was nice, but the staff seemed disingenuous. The food was good quality and very fresh, but also VERY bland and over-priced. I would have said something about the food, but none of the staff inquired. Would not recommend.
Village Tavern is always excellent in every way. Will be going back in a few days!
Could not believe they charged $4 each for 2 cranberry juice and club soda! Outrageous! Nothing more than a soft drink.
Great food! Laid back atmosphere and pleasant staff! We will be back :)
The steak at Village Tavern specifically the 14oz Ribeye was off the charts! Better priced and more flavorful than Del Frescos and a majority of the other steakhouses in Charlotte. Staff was great and quick on refills. My wife and I will be back! In todays cultural verbage... I was deceased. 🤤🤤🍖😎
