The meal, service and dining experience was awesome!
soup was lukewarm but tasty would have been better hot..
Server did remove from the ticket a meal that was not liked
We had a great meal. Service, food and drinks were all very good. It was a bit loud but we could hear each other ok. We will be back.
great food great service very tasty drinks all in all a great time
Lunch was very good and prepared as requested. We seemed to have a team of servers; all friendly and efficient and all making sure we were taken care of. Very prompt too.
Great food. Very very loud.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. However, it was extremely Loud and difficult to have a conversation. Next time, I hope to request a quieter area.
Second recent visit for lunch and service was only mediocre. Restaurant appears to be understaffed and servers spread thinly. Food was good, but soup and salad took WAAYYY too long. Will be awhile before I️ visit.
Took my wife and mother in law here for dinner on Mother's Day. We have been to Village Tavern multiple times and had good experiences, however, it is pretty clear they don't manage special holidays well. Requested seating on the patio, which ended up being a huge mistake. One server was working the entire patio, which had several parties of 6 or more. We ordered drinks and an appetizer quickly but server did not come back to take our order for 45 MINUTES. No refills, no checking in, though we did see him on his phone with one party he was serving. Food finally arrived and was mediocre and cold. You can do better Village Tavern
Village Tavern was very busy, and had been all day, and boisterous, very lively. The menu was large and had many good choices. The food was good, mine was excellent and the other entrees somewhat salty. Service was good considering how crowded it was. Would not be my first choice for a special occasion again.
I will preface this with saying it was mother's day but we had reservations but had to wait 30 minutes past the time in order to be seated. The service was slow and we had to ask several times for silver ware and bread plates. This was the first time I have ever had service issues at Village Tavern and given the crowd I will try to excuse my disappointment.
Wonderful food, wonderful service just a great evening overall. We had reservationsat 615 and we were promptly seated and from thenit only got better. I had the prime rib, my husband had grilled meatloaf he said it was very good and my sister had the cajun pasta. She too said it was fantastic.
I've been a patriot of Village Tavern for years. This particular visit was on mothers day and I was very disappointed.
It was Mother’s Day and we had reservations. Our waitress Rachel was awesome! However, it took almost an hour for our food to come. Kitchen was backed up. The kitchen should have been prepared for that particular day. Good experience overall.
Had chicken spinach salad. Usually very good. Chicken dry this time. Will still try again.
We have a friendly and prompt waitress, but the main issues were we had to wait for our table about 15 minutes and the food was not hot when we got it. It also seems they have changed some of the food items. WE ordered a calamari appetizer and now it has fried peppers and a Thai peanut butter sauce. I’m not big on peanut butter and would have much rather had the sweet chili sauce they used to serve. Other than those minor issues we had everything else was okay.
Excellent service! Good food and atmosphere. I will definitely dine there again.
Had reservations for Mother's day. Hostess sat us 15 minutes before time. They were very accommodating. Waitress appeared rushed, and stressed! She had a tendency to reach over family members vs. waiting for glass or plate to be handed to her . She talked about how they were not getting a break due to Mothers Day business.
Food was okay, this time. Asparagus was over cooked, and spinach dip had a ton cheese that was not melted. Food has been better during times they are not as busy.
Mother’s Day lunch
Food was excellent as was the service. Can always count on Village Tavern for special occasions like Mothers Day.
The service, food and atmosphere were all as they usually are...outstanding. I have never been disappointed with my dining experiences at Village Tavern. I would probably eat there more if it were located closer to where I live. I recommend it highly to those looking for a truly wonderful dining experience.
My boyfriend and I loved our night at Village Tavern! Their wine selection was incredible. Delicious steak & salmon.
Good atmosphere and good service. Only problem was that food was served very cold. I had a steak and didn’t have the time to get another. Got a great desert, but ordered coffee and it was cold too.
Food was very good. Service was not the best and was slow. It made the lunch meal longer than necessary. Was lt getting back to work. :(
We arrived on time for online reservations and were promptly seated. The lunch menu was varied and appealing, and affordable for lunch. The server was good, reserved, but attentive. The food was good, little filet mignon, very small was cooked well. The only complaint was the bread. I requested the complimentary bread and four cold slices with butter were served, not hot or fresh, was dry. Perhaps the bread there is not offered fresh and warm from the oven, but it should not have been dry as though it had been sitting out awhile before being served. Overall, a very nice meal for our special occasion.
Heard great things and was a bit disappointed. Why? Because they ran out of grits. Then they ran out of green beans. Not impressive.
We have always enjoyed The Village Tavern but the service has not been very good the last couple of times that we have been there. This last visit we had to ask for refills on our beverages. He didn't seem real interested in serving us especially when we told him that we wanted to split a salad but was very attentive to the couple next to us who were ordering drinks. Maybe he doesn't like to serve couples with a child. We will come back but will let the management know that day if the server is as bad as the one we had Sunday.
The Village Tavern is excellent. The service, ambiance, and food quality are simply outstanding. I would happily come here again.
Always a consistent great place to eat. Great food and plenty of room to enjoy your meal and be private enough to enjoy your conversation.
Great service from Phillip
Food was good and they did not rush us so we could catch up with old friends
I love Village Tavern. I am always down for brunch at Villlage Tavern and I love their apple walnut muffins. I also enjoy their dinner menu. I frequently get their Prime Rib .. it’s always cooked the way I like it. The service in yesterday was excellent !!
The eggs benedict came with eggshells. The second round was sans eggshells. The kitchen seemed really backed up. We had a long wait to get our food.
We enjoyed the food and experience. I wish I would have kept my appointment earlier in the day for graduation festivities. Will be returning
Best Filet and Prime Rib. Thanks for a great meal
It was ok. Group of 8 for a Birthday at 2:00 pm on a Sunday. That occasion was noted in the Open Table reservation but didn’t make any difference at the restaurant. Not sure why they even ask. Hostess directed us to our table after acknowledging party of 8. Table was for six, she pointed us to the table and walked away. There was an adjacent table set for four so we pushed the two tables together. Food and paper and straws were revealed making you wonder if they ever pull those out to vacuum. Ordered the Brie and the crab dip for appetizers, the waiter came back within a few minutes and apologized for being out of the Brie. No worries, we then replaced them by ordering the nachos. Nachos arrived, 15 minutes later the crab dip hit the table. Not the server's fault. He was great. Kitchen seemed to be having quite a few issues getting food out. Half the entrees came out and overheard the two bringing those plates say "where are the rest? I give up." About 5 minutes later the remainder of the orders hit the table. A few minutes later a server said "who had the side of fries?" Nobody had ordered fries but we were missing a side of veggies. Five minutes later they arrived. The food is ok, nothing mind blowing, server did his best and didn't penalize him for a poorly run kitchen, the rest needs a lot of work. Again, chain restaurants in BHM are almost always disappointing.
Great ambiance on the patio.
Server Christian was fantastic.
Food was great.
It was prom night so they were super busy but Sloan was still so attentive to us! They didn’t have the gluten free pasta that I had ordered so the manager came by and suggested the GF pizza, I decided to try it... Well it came out a little burnt and I didn’t eat very much of it so they took care of my pizza and our delicious creme brûlée!!! We also had the pimento deviled eggs, tuna sashimi, and the snake river pork chop... all were AMAZING! Sloan was so kind, honest, and understanding! Best service I have had in a while!
I'd give it a solid OK. The food was good and the server was pleasant. The only challenge was that she would disappear for really long spans of time and never refilled our drinks. Other than that, it was fine.
The service was excellent; our server was attentive and helpful and never annoying. She earned her tip. Our visit was a Saturday night and it was very busy but nothing took terribly long. The appetizer - deviled eggs - were tasty but not special. That goes for the entrees as well - all the food was fine but not special including the very 'mushy' grits in the shrimp and grits. Because one of us was here for a birthday and they did not have have the birthday guest's desired entree, the dessert was on the house and the chocolate torte was excellent. The experience was great but wouldn't recommend for foodies unless you're bringing a group of 6 or so in which case everyone will find something to satisfy.
Waitress was nice. Mashed potatoes were cold and she brought warmer ones. Disconnect was explanation of specials. Waitress promoted one special and another waiter we heard told two tables of a different special we were not offered. Seemed like an upsale on specials we were offered versus other tables. Nice seeing my so many prom patrons. Question??? I saw tables with bread service but we were not offered bread on patio? Is that common to not offer bread on patio?
