Village Tavern Birmingham Ratings and Reviews
The food is usually great at Village Tavern. Had brunch this past Sunday 1/7/18 and ordered the salmon benedict. The salmon was over cooked and eggs were not poached well. They were out of hashbrowns and just replaced them with french fries without even asking what I wanted to substitute. Mario was great but the food was not up to its usual standards.
Poor wine selection. VERY few wines from France. We found a few selections by the glass, but nothing by the bottle. And when we ordered our wine, it took 20 minutes. The appetizer took 10 minutes. My wife waited for the wine to be served BEFORE she started the appetizer. We felt wine service and the selection in wines to be poor reflection of the Tavern.
Grouper Florentine was delicious! Pimento cheese dip appetizer was a hit with everyone. Village Tavern is so consistently good, that it’s become a staple when dining out with friends, family, or clients. I haven’t had anything less than a perfect meal, service, or ambiance, everytime I’ve been. Management and staff deserve kudos, and you owe it to yourself to try this restaurant.
Went to the village off of a review I read off yelp! Let’s start off the scene was very nice low lighting very nice the staff very professional very prompt and very honest!!! I order the crab dip and spring rolls as my appetizer spring rolls they where very good but the crab dip was just warm tuna with a lot of mayo the beer selection was amazing and the wine. Off too main course I had the New York strip season very well cook fair to what I wanted but can’t really complain the steak was good the price over all was very over priced I have had very epic meals very amazing dinner aka Perry steakhouse the village should not even come close to there price range is the reasoning I only rate a 3 stars very poor appetizers and cost
Christmas Eve dinner. Got there early, almost an hour before our reservation and had cocktails in the bar. Good service but a bit proud of their cocktails which were small for $10.00. Got summoned that our table was ready. Server never mentioned Merry Christmas and we had to ask for our cocktails to be refreshed. Food was good but service was only adequate. The place was very busy but for the prices really expected better service. This is one of our "go to" places so we will be back and hope the service is more up to par.
My husband and I enjoyed our date at the Tavern. The service is always great, the food delicious and the atmosphere is outstanding. We enjoyed sitting at the bar where there was live music. Also, on Wednesday you get half off bottle or glass of wine which is a plus. We will be back!
We've eaten at the Village Tavern on many occasions and generally enjoy the food and service but not this time. Service was slow and certainly not in a good mood. The air vent dripped on my friend on her side of table steadily through meal. Food took exceptionally long to get and one meal was void of the vegetable while one meal got their side after almost completing their main course.
I will give the restaurant the fact it was a holiday weekend but there are many other places that certainly do a better job in food quality and service.
We went for a nice, relaxing dinner before the ballet. The vallet option was fantastic and the people were friendly. Making reservations is a good move, so be sure to do that. The food was delivered quickly and we were very pleased. A fantastic place to eat for any occasion.
Very disappointed in village tavern on this visit. We have been patronizing this restaurant for years and it was always excellent until the past six months. Not sure if it is under new management or some other change. We had a reservation for dinner. Upon arrival we checked in and were told our table would be ready momentarily. Ten minutes past our reservation time I went back to the desk and reminded them we had a reservation. The same host seemed unsure what was going on and had not even pursued finding us a table. Once at our table, an employee came and told us she needed our empty chair even though it was holding our coats and purses. The food took an hour to arrive. Half of it was cold. Our waiter provided no explanation. The restrooms were dirty and out of paper towels. This restaurant will no longer be on our list.
