Village Tavern Birmingham Ratings and Reviews
The Tavern is one of our favorite places to eat in Birmingham. It has a menu that has many food choices. The food is always good and service is very good.
My friends and I had a delightful evening at The Village Tavern. the food was good. The ambience was pleasant; and we would definitely recommend The Village Tavern to our friends.
Enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. The restaurant is a too noisy for good conversation. That is my only complaint. Will return in hopes it is not as loud.
The Beef Filet and Salmon were warm instead of hot.
The Chicken Marsala , Club, and Crab Cake Sandwich were all very good.
Waitress was excellent. Kitchen sent 1 of our dishes out 20 minutes after everyone else’s. They “comped” this meal which was kind.
Excellent food and very good service. Got a little noisy later in the evening. A bulb over our table was blown which made it too dark. Overall a nice experience. Definitely will visit again.
The service and food--both excellent. This was a birthday dinner for my husband. I called ahead of time to ask that a birthday dessert be brought to the table at the end of the meal. I was told my server would be informed. Dessert never came. The reason called early was so that I didn't have to leave the table and ask that the server bring the desert. I was very disappointed.
We had an excellent meal, with very varied palates. Steaks , seafood and pasta dishes were excellent. Highly recommend the spinach salad.
Went with friends for Friday evening dinner. Restaurant was crowded even at 6:00 PM. I was glad we had reservations. Service was great. The adult beverages were great! And, the food was tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced.
The Village Tavern is pretty much my favorite restaurant in Birmingham. The reason I gave four stars instead of five is because: 1) When we made the reservation, we requested a quiet booth. We were seated in a booth, but it was next to family with a young child who would jump up and down on their booth seat and it shook our seat. That was not the quiet seating I requested!
2) All the food was excellent except I ordered the sweet potato fries (which I love!) and when the waitstaff brought them out, they were barely warm. I was very disappointed in not having the hot and crisp fries I should have gotten and barely ate any. I didn't say anything since it was a business meeting and I wasn't comfortable in that setting. My feeling is the waitstaff should check to make sure things are correct before serving the food.
But I still love the Tavern!
Special night out with my wife! Totally enjoyed the ambiance, her favorite wine, creative appetizers, fresh salads and perfect entrees! Our waitress was so sweet and made suggestions that made for a perfect meal!
Steak was overcooked and not seasoned. Mac and cheese was undercooked. Butter cake was overcooked. Drinking glasses were dirty. Very disappointing since my visit September was the exact opposite.
My husband and I went for Sunday brunch. We love having dinner there, rthe food is always perfect, and great service. Brunch wasn’t that great, but as always the service makes up for it.
We love dining here! GREAT food, reasonable prices, and the most affordable kids menu with lots of options. And $3.50 mimosas!
Great food, service, menu was varietal, cocktails were great. The only issue I had was the very loud noise level. We were there for anniversary dinner and we had difficulty hearing each other.
We so enjoyed Amy's service. She was very knowledgeable and right on with her all of her recommendations. Our filets were some of the best we've had.
The food was fantastic. Definitely a good deal for the price range. The service and atmosphere could have been a little bit better but you can’t control how some customers act to other people. The inside of the restaurant was fairly loud but the outside dining was a good choice for a quieter environment
My daughters and I had made The Village Tavern our regular brunch place; we're Sunday brunch-goers. From here on out, though, we'll be going somewhere else.
When we first started visiting the Village Tavern, the food was always good and service was friendly and efficient. The last several times we've been, the food has been delivered cold, or the orders were incorrect (I'm not sure why it's a badge of honor for servers to try to remember orders without writing them down; I'd so much rather they be written down and gotten right), or we weren't given silverware after asking several times, or the food took a long time to arrive. My last sandwich was so bad it was nearly inedible. This makes me sad because we thought we'd found a brunch place to settle for a long time to come. We're looking for a new place now, as being served the food we ordered and having it be hot and fresh is important to us. Brunch is our only eat-out opportunity together, and it was a bummer to have it spoiled, not just once, but several times in a row now.
The filet was delicious and the service was great. The restaurant was very busy but the server did not seem affected by that. Good food quality. We will definitely return.
