About
Both orders were delivered to the table wrong. My Ribeye steak was very tuff and the special sauce and shrimps for my surf and turf was missing. After they got the order right the sauce was cold. Very disappointed in the quality of the food.
Great experience, great food and exceptional servicer - Will.
Sat at the bar and ordered there. Ordered new pimento cheese and bacon omelette came with potatoes and muffin. Very good. Personally I thought it was a little light on the pimento cheese but it was good. Not too heavy. Also ordered shrimp and grits. Always a good choice. Husband always wishes it came with a muffin. Bartender personable and efficient.
It’s always a great experience. The hospitality and friendliness of the staff is amazing. We went JUST for dessert this time and was very pleased with the service, the time it took for us to receive our dessert and the taste of our selection.
Everything was perfect. Have dined there numerous times and have never had a bad experience.
VILLAGE TAVERN NO LONGER HONORS OPEN TABLE RESERVATIONS! Found this out upon arrival with a “reservation”. THEY NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE SYSTEM!!!
It was to celebrate my birthday. Everything was great.
The Tavern has struggled the last few months. They have had turnover in management, waitress personnel and systems. The services delays have recently been corrected but my salad arrived without poppy seed dressing and it took a long time to get hold of our waiter. Eventually everything was corrected
Upon arrival we were informed that they (Village Tavern) no longer accepted reservations made through Open Table. Imagine our surprise ! So, we had to wait ! It was our anniversary. Why don’t you follow up on this so it doesn’t happen to anyone else. Food and service were good anyway.

The best fillet mignons in Birmingham!! Also the best weekday happy hours & wine down Wednesdays in Birmingham! Love the new service manager, Russell’s, professionalism, wine & food knowledge & personality. Thanks
Anniversary dinner! We had the best time!
A favorite that was suffering apparently from being under staffed.
Friend’s birthday
Food was good - at least what of it we got. Ordered soup, which never came. Told 2 people about it and it still never came. Was promised it would be taken off our bill, but it wasn't. Didn't see much of our waiter.
Very disappointed on the service.
Restaurant informed us they were no longer taking open table reservations. Don’t reserve through this avenue and expect them to have it.
The Tavern has lost their touch. For ten years we are at the Tavern weekly. It was our go to place but the last three months we have gone three times and two of those three times the wait time for food was unbearably long. This visit it was fifty minutes before we go soup, salad and a flatbread pizza.
I overheard one waitress talking about one table that waited two hours for food. Terrible. The Restaurant was taking reservations for all time slots. We were seated and ordered in minutes. The wait staff was attentive but the kitchen could not get the food out.
I talked to one of the managers and she acted like nothing was wrong, which shows that they are not watching the clock. So disappointing. I was told they went to new software in October that has slowed down the kitchen. They need to get their act together.
Great place for a Sunday brunch. Good food and service.
Wonderful visit as always. The food is exceptional and the service was great. Will be going back.
Our server, Morgan, was outstanding. She was delightful, attentive and efficient.
Dependably good food and service. Love this restaurant and go to it regularly.
Enjoyed everything
Excellent place to dine with family, friends, or date. The food, especially the steak, is fantastic. I have never had bad service there. It's always top notch service.
Quality of food has gone way down since we were last here a couple of years ago. Food was mediocre at best but the prices high. 1st steak came over cooked and the replacement was a tough cut of beef even cooked medium rare. Even the meatballs were dry and tough. AND you know that sour smell that a dirty rag has that hasn’t been washed for a very long time? That’s what the restaurant smelled like inside. It was almost enough to make us leave but we ignored it in hopes the food would be as good as we remembered. But it was not. The bathrooms were even dirty. This place needs a thorough cleaning and remodel.
Great good and a waitress named Leigh. My wife got the hamburger with bacon jam and I got thr cajun fettuccine with scallops, shrimp and andouille sausage. No room for desert! We will definitely eat here again!
Can always rely on excellent food selection, good food and great service.
Good, attentive service but food was surprisingly lackluster. Soup of the day seemed to be just a mix of leftovers and called sesame beef soup. The “new” meatball skillet meal looked so good but severed over grits was just ok and the meatballs had no flavor.
Once again, great location, great meal, great staff makes for a great time
Menu needs to be updated. Food-ordered spinach dip came to table cold. Server was very apologetic and brought another to table, but taste of dip is okay compared to other restaurants. Call it picky, but the lemon in my tea still had the price tag on it. I did not send it back. Daughter salad was sent back due to some of the lettuce had brown edges. Lastly, we were a part of 6 and sat in the middle. I recommend you need to remove one of the party tables because it makes it uncomfortable for other guests to get up from their table and move.
It was just mediocre. The salads seemed a good bit smaller. Service was a bit slow. Nothing terrible but nothing great.
Good predictable restaurant for whatever you're up for. Never a complaint from friends or me.
Delightful! One of the managers was very kind ( Sydney ) and the waitress was very good (Sloan).
The Village Tavern is always a good experience. Wonderful food and service.
The hostesses always treat me well. I recommend The Village Tavern to all my
friends.
Our waiter was so nice and fast. We loved the food so much!! Best experience we had in a while. We will definitely be returning.
Sat in bar area. Russell did great job serving us. We all enjoyed our food. Tried the shrimp tacos, some of the best I’ve tasted. Someone else had the prime rib sandwich from the bar menu. Great deal for $8.
They had live music, guy on acoustic which was to loud. Couldn’t hear someone across table.
One of my favorite restaurants in area.
We had reservations for 7 and was accommodated as requested. Great server who was very knowledgeable about the menu and extremely nice and enjoyable with a great attitude! He seemed happy to serve us all! It was a little loud but ok because everyone was enjoying themselves. The brunch was packed out! The food was very good as well. Mimosas had the good champagne.
Great experience
Our favorite restaurant! Can't beat the fillets! Always perfect! Great servers! Your pace is their pace! Our "Go To" place!
1st time there. Service was friendly and fast. Food was good. We will be back
half my steak was burnt to a crisp. I had to watch my husband eat and eat some of his food. When my food came my steak was bloody. The manager seemed like she did care about our dissatisfaction. This was a special night for us and it was ruined.
The spring rolls were really good, but wasn’t a big fan of their burger. My husband’s shrimp tacos were great, though. Our waitress was decent. Not a bad experience, but didn’t leave me craving more.
